This is a gem of a breakfast place hidden in a strip mall off Hwy 55. They do all your breakfast favorites well - I love the omelettes and skillets while my bf is a huge fun of the pancakes (especially blueberry or banana nut). You will almost always be greeted by the owner when you walk in. The staff works hard to keep things moving but note on the weekends it gets busy! On Saturdays there is a nice farmers market in the parking lot too. read more

Came for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. There was a line at the door and we were all seated quickly. Great service from all the people who waited on us from the hostess to the waitress. Even a waitress that wasn't ours made sure we were ok. Food was flavorful. We got the patata frittata, a huge pancake (with soft butter that actually spreads) and hot syrup, perfectly ripe fruit, and a Mediterranean plate of salad, marinated chicken and beef with pita triangles and what tastes like homemade tzatziki sauce. And none of that minute made/Tropicana orange juice. Even the juice was great. EVERYTHING was delicious for $28. We have leftovers due to the generous portions. read more

I had been hearing great things about Benetis for awhile and, believe me, I wanted to try it but, really, how often am I in RTP? As luck would have it, I was picking up a friend from the airport at an ungodly hour and 147 North was jammed up so I figured, "Why not?" Benetis is in the same shopping center as Thai Lanna, Papa Mojo's, Sarah's Empanadas, etc. and, as a result, might be easy to overlook. Doing so, however, would be a mistake. Pro tip: At Benetis, omelettes will typically run you about eight dollars. Between 7:00am-10:00am, they're on special for five dollars and change. Naturally, I went for the Californian omelette with a side of fruit and an English muffin. As expected, the food was great, the portions were large, and the staff friendly. Oh, and my friend I picked up from the airport? He's not an egg fan but ate his omelette like it was his last meal. read more

Prior to moving to Durham to attend a blue school, I'd lived in a small town in Ohio for the past twenty-four-ish years. In that small town, fast food was still a relatively new invasion, with most of the typical McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, and places of their ilk being confined to one main street. Some of the more quality (or at least memorable) places to eat were off the beaten path, tucked away into unassuming plazas and on forgotten back roads. One of these places, Kelly's Deli, was your basic greasy spoon - cheap-as-heck breakfasts, salads the size of a small city, and American cheese as a staple of the dairy world. Essentially, comfort. Cheap, easy comfort. Benetis isn't Kelly's Deli. In fact, it's like Kelly's on Greek steroids. I don't know if those affect muscle groups the others don't, but at least here, something's in the water when it comes to kind, genuine friendliness. The waiters and waitresses are constantly grinning their faces off, hugging & getting hugged by repeat customers, or making you feel like you're an old-time regular there as soon as you walk in the door. I'm terrible with names, but I assume that the lady who's remembered my family in the two visits we've had after our initial visit appears to be in charge. She's super-awesome, consistently spending time checking in with us, asking about our girls, and ensuring that our needs are met. There's never a sense of pushy socialization here, so I assume that if you're of the schizoid or paranoid personality disorder realm and desire nothing to do with other human beings, you'd probably be treated just as kindly (but given ample space). Basically, this place is comfort. Not cheap comfort, mind you... not on the level of Kelly's. A breakfast for my wife, two girls, and I still cost us just over $20, but then again, most of the world doesn't really believe that a place exists where three eggs, two sides, toast, bacon, coffee, etc. will really only run you $5.00 or so. That place does exist, but it's in Ohio. I'd describe Benetis as fairly priced for the quality and taste of the meal you're getting - as noted elsewhere, their pancakes function as a blanket of delicious love for your stomach. Their egg scrambles are crazy-good, too. We've yet to get there for their Greek buffet, which goes on only during the week, but from everything I've heard/read/been told by random people walking by me on the street throughout Durham, Benetis' Greek buffet rules hard. We recently purchased a Yelp Deal for Benetis, which (I think) essentially gave us $10.00 worth of tasty for $5.00 - always a good move in my book. This place is a regular go-to for us. Not a weekly go-to like a place in Ohio was (after all, I'm a freaking graduate student, which translates into small expenditures), but definitely an at-least-once-a-month place. One of these days, I'd like to have "a place." Meaning a locally owned business, where the owners/management were actually present, personable and where the employee turnover rate weren't changing every month. Living where I do just outside of Atlanta, such is not going to happen because the only thing near me are two Waffle Houses, a handful of gas stations and a few McSubways. But for those in the RDU area, a place like Benetis might just be the "place" you could be looking for. I've been here a few times whenever I visit the area because my friends have friends to whom this is "their place," and whenever we decide to meet for breakfast, we always end up at Benetis. It's slightly out of the way on the outskirts of town, but it's really easy to get to. Not being from the area, I couldn't tell you what it's like during the week, since I've only ever visited on Saturday mornings, but I'd never had any troubles getting there, as it's off of 540, and just a few miles down 55. There's plenty of free parking, even if the local community farmer's market is taking place. Upon entering it's a clean and cozy interior that has a welcoming feel about it. I can't explain it, but it has that atmosphere of a relaxed breakfast place, where there's no annoying beeps and chimes of excessive automated cooking machinery or phones ringing every four seconds. The people I go are obvious regulars and know every single person that works there, and again I feel a little envious that I don't have a place like this remotely available to me where I am, but am endeared to the personable relationships the employees at Benetis have with regulars. Needless to say, the service has always been outstanding whenever I've been to here, and never does my coffee pitcher or water glasses go empty, nor has there ever been a salt or pepper shaker that wasn't ready for use or a ketchup bottle that was too close to empty for comfort. The reason I don't give the place a five-star rating is that honestly, the food is good, but it's nothing that blows me away or makes me have Pavlovian cravings. It's pretty simple, basic breakfast food in general. Don't get me wrong, it's certainly not bad food by any stretch of the imagination, it's all clearly freshly made to order using good ingredients, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm just not that big of a breakfast person in general. I mostly enjoy the company I'm with in the nice pleasant atmosphere. Personally though, food can honestly be somewhat overlooked if the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is good. With that in mind, Benetis is a wonderful place to have breakfast, and make "your place" if you're somewhat local. It's a clean, comfortable and charming restaurant that's easy to get to, with a good staff of people, and good food. You really can't go wrong with a place like this for breakfast. read more

While getting the truck serviced across the street I looked up on yelp for a close place to grab a bite. While the shopping center is old and with many closed store fronts this place had a solid 4.5 rating so off I went. Upon entering all I could think of was the wonderful years working in diners in the early 80s when we scrambled real eggs and cooked potatoes to order. I was not disappointed in fact their potatoes were inspired (perfectly cooked and seasoned). The eggs were fluffy and the English muffin was extra crispy , just the way I ordered it. The corned beef hash was canned and I love canned hash but I may have shed a tear during my meal if it was made in-house. I meet the owner and she and I shared some restaurant stories. It was a great meal and I will come back every time I get the truck serviced. read more

So pleasantly surprised by this place. I definitely wouldn't have found it without all of the good Yelp reviews. I came for brunch and ordered the vegetarian frittata, which came with toast and hashbrowns, as well as coffee. The coffee came first, and it was a whole thermos! Awesome. Not the best coffee in the world (nor was I expecting it), but the quantity and ease of self-pour was nice. Then, the entree came out faster than I could believe it. And it was huge--I even took a picture of my leftovers so folks could get a sense of the size. The frittata was one of the best egg breakfast items I've had in my life (not joking, not even a little bit). It was full of fresh vegetables--tomatoes, broccoli, peppers, and onions--and had a perfectly melted layer of cheese on top. The has brown potatoes were also great--skin on and all--perfectly cooked. They had the right texture of being somewhat crisp while still tasting like potatoes. And, the presentation on the plate was really nice, which I wasn't expecting for such a casual place. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was a bit lacking, definitely a step above a diner, but a mom-and-pop type of place with booths and minimal decor. Fine by me. What a hidden gem! Also, as a note. It's a pay-at-the-counter type of place, so bring cash to leave your tip on the table. read more

We've been coming here for just over 10 years after relocating to the RTP area from around NYC in 2005. This is the closest breakfast food to a NYC area diner we've been able to find in this area. But what really makes this place is the service. Spectacular. Mary Joe (owner) has always been here, she always remembers our names and background. Even the servers have been here for years. IMO this is a hidden place likely because of the location but we drive and have been driving over 10 miles regularly to get here. Definitely check it out for breakfast. read more

We went here for lunch today as my introduction to the fine foods of RTP. I'm a Greek food lover, and all in all - this place isn't bad at all. I really wish I could do 3 1/2 stars. I may have to go back to order a full plate, but I was coerced into ordering off of the buffet, as it gives you a sampling of all of the standard Greek fare. I wanted to try a little bit of everything, and overall, it was tas-ty! I always have to comment on the blamb - it was definitely the good stuff made just the way its supposed to be, and cut into generous portions. They give you squares of pita bread on the buffet, so you can create a little gyro. The Tzaziki sauce was more onion than cucumber, but I thought it was a really nice twist. The moussaka was appropriately gelatinous (custard!), and the hummus delightfully garlicky. I'd give the place four stars - but the vegetables, dolmas, olives, pasta and chicken dishes didn't win me over. And yes, I left completely stuffed. The best parts - the staff was really, VERY nice, very sweet and even gave us to-go cups for our drinks. The place looks kind of like an old Greek diner, and has some charm. Its a comfortable and relaxed setting. I'd definitely go again to eat from the full menu! We have frequented Benetis for the past year and have never had a bad experience. I agree with Chris K.... it "doesn't get enough kudos." Although we have never been for brunch, lunch, or dinner, I can say that Benetis is a great place for breakfast. Even when the place is packed, the food comes out quickly and just as ordered. The owners and staff are always friendly, and my family feels appreciated at every visit. Let me just say that for some of the meals, they are so large that my husband and I share! The amount of food for the money is impressive compared to overpriced joints in the area that are packing them in for prestige. Benetis ranks as my top choice for breakfast in the Triangle. Give it a try and you'll see why. The prices are reasonable and the breakfast menu is excellent. I usually order a waffle with eggs, bacon and a side of grits. I find it hard to believe that Benetis isn't voted as having the Best Breakfast in the Triangle because the food and service are always good. You can wait an hour to eat at the other breakfast serving restaurant that starts with a "B," but the food at Benetis is so much better. read more

I had the lunch buffet today, and I was generally pleased. The buffet included items such as gyro lamb, grape leaves, and roasted chicken. The idea of unlimited grape leaves will probably bring me back again. The service was very good. They were attentive and very friendly, kept the drinks refilled, and clarified things for us when asked. The only negative item I can think of is that my friend's chicken seemed a little cool. I guess there may be an issue with the buffet table - by the time I tried it out, there was a fresh batch that was warm. read more

Two words: yum...breakfast! Had breakfast with some coworkers here on a Friday morning. It's very quiet at 7:30 AM on a Friday...only two other tables were occupied. When we left at 8:15 or so, it had started to get a bit busier. The waitress was friendly & kept us full of water & coffee. I did the pancake combination special (2 pancakes or a waffle + 2 pieces of meat + 2 eggs) for about $6. The pancakes were ginormous and tasty! I ate half of my pancakes and was full. Sad, b/c they are so delicious! My 2 pcs of bacon & 2 eggs seemed more like 3 eggs and 4 pieces of bacon. Definitely value for the money. I'll definitely be back...hopefully I'll get a chance to try it for lunch next trip. read more

Holy seafood scramble. Benetis was a real surprise. Their hours have changed from what's listed on yelp, but fortunately I was close enough to the real time that I didn't take off to tastier places. In hindsight, that would have been hard to do since Benetis blew away the nearby competition for breakfast. I've varied between the seafood and the California omelets, both of which are excellent but for different reasons. The seafood scramble has shrimp, real crab, and cream cheese in some perfectly scrambled eggs. The Hollandaise is served on the side, which I prefer. The only reason I haven't tried the greek omelet is that it says it's made with creamed spinach. Something about that doesn't sound right. Anyway, rounding it all off, whatever breakfast you get, also comes with the standard side dish choices, but the coup de grâce whenever I've been, is the super-nice staff. At that hour of the morning, I'm impressed when anyone can be cheerful and smiling when they're dealing with people who sometimes aren't. Next time I try Benetis, it might have to be in the evening for some of the interesting Greek / Mediterranean dishes, their specialty. read more

Support the little guys!! It's always nice to go to a mom and pop restaurant and this one clearly fits the bill. We popped in here after church on sunday, were promptly seated, and the food arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering, despite a moderate brunch crowd. The breakfast menu is vast and we were happy with our skillets (pile of breakfast potatoes, cheese, eggs, and various toppings). The service was efficient and our entire brunch experience lasted around 45 minutes. Overall, not bad for a quick, filling meal. If they ever decided to drop some $$$ and spruce the place up, I think they could beef up their crowd and turn it into a nicer dining experience. read more

Well, whatta you know! This place is a little hodge podge of everything, but it's yummy and a great little find. Say you want breakfast and a co-worker wants Mediterranean! Perfect... here is your place! I hadn't been here in years and the decor reminds me of a typical $1.99 beach breakfast place, but their $7.99 Mediterranean buffett was a welcome change for lunch. They had a nice healthy salad, some lamb, fish, and chicken entrees, and fresh fruit on the buffet. Oh, and some of the best stuffed grape leaves I've had in a while. These were super fresh!!!! We were stuffed after 1 trip and were pretty surprised at how good the food was. The presentation didn't match the quality and taste! Check it out! Where else can you get this little combo? This restaurant needs a bigger space. Seriously. Knock the walls down and EXPAND already! They managed to squeeze together 3 tables to accommodate 10 of us. On Mother's Day, aka huge graduation day in the triangle. No reservations accepted, so we got there before the post-church crowd and waited (fairly) patiently. Everyone found something good, even the 2 weird ones- 1 who eats nothing but pancakes, pizza, and peanut butter sandwiches and 1 who has a (self-imagined?) food sensitivity problem and limits herself to probably 5 foods. Anyway, everyone got something. I got the strawberry waffle, because, well, I love them. I could not finish it. I gave the rest to my guy, who was more than happy to assist in the demolition of its Belgian goodness. A couple side orders were delayed, but since there were 37 people waiting, and I don't even know how many people packed into that place already, it was pretty understandable. Plus there were 10 of us. 10. The bill ended up at about $10 per person, which, I have to say, was really a bargain for an excellent brunch. read more

Breakfast with a diner-like feel. Surprisingly appealing menu. Food was a toss-up between 3 and 4 stars, nice service and friendly owner @ the register take it to 4 stars. Preferable to Brig's? I give them an edge for having no wait. My wife still likes Brig's omelettes better, though. To be fair, I think a surprising proportion of Benetis menu had spicy things in it. They use really good ingredients, give an entire carafe of coffee, and have really good service. Really good, but a bit short on flavor to be great. Very nice spot for breakfast , brunch, lunch. We were lucky to have found it. Breakfast for us was very tasty and reasonably priced. I had an omelet which was fluffy and filled with veggies and cheese. Only comment is that the coffee was only fair to my taste. But I am a coffee nut and look forward to my morning cup a lot. My husband and I have tried Benetis a few times now and I have always been pleased with the food, prices, and service. The decor and space itself is nothing wonderful, but that doesn't matter because I'm always happy with my waffle :) Every time I've ordered the waffle it is the perfect texture and very yummy (seems like that'd be an easy thing to get right, but my old diner in New York constantly messed up my waffle). My husband has enjoyed an omelette each time we've been and really liked the sausage that was in his last one. The prices here are extremely reasonable and they often offer a $5 for $10 deal here on Yelp. We always walk out paying less than $20 for two meals (sometimes three!). The staff is also friendly and prompt. The only thing I don't really care for his the restaurant's hours! I tried to go here for dinner one evening but they don't serve dinner apparently (I come from New York where diners are open ALL the time)...so I was left to get my waffle at Waffle House (not nearly as good!). read more

They don't seem interested in serving customers. I've heard the food was decent so I wanted to check them out. Came as the 2nd shift opened. The sign says they open at 4. I was here at 3:55 and they were closed. Tried again at 4 and they haven't opened yet, which is to be expected. I waited until 4:10 and the door is still locked with someone inside looking at me. I gesture to see if they are opening today and they completely ignored me. She even came to the door to double check the doors were locked without acknowledging I was even present. Benetis is the most unexpected delight I've come across in a long while. We stumbled in here one day after a long night of drinking, after hearing a friend of ours rant and rave about how excellent this place was. Well let me tell you, he did not disappoint. When it comes to breakfast and brunch, there simply isn't a better place in the Durham area. They WILL service your needs! Are you looking for a wrap? No problem, they've got it. You want some delicious Belgian Waffles? Come on down, and pick your topping. A tasty omelette? Served piping hot, any way you like! The best part of this place is absolutely the quality of their food. Everything tastes amazing. The service is top notch. The prices are totally acceptable. I have nothing negative to say at all. You can enjoy both and compared with each other. Food: I always was longing for a great brunch or breakfast here but life never goes what you would project. I left here and now I ate lunch here. Had gyro, platter. GREAT is the only word I would like to say. It is tendered and the pita is roasted well. The only complain I would have is the portion of salad is small. It was all about fat and protein in that dish. So, do not think about being on diet while eating the gyro platter. Finally a great breakfast for a great price. So disappointed in Another Broken Egg, so this was a great find. Nothing fancy really, but for $5.99 you can get a wonderful omelet, home fries or fruit, and toast or english muffin. I had the California omelet and it was amazing. There was a lot of avocado, which makes me super happy, and the tomatoes were fresh. Perfect amount of cheese, and it was piping hot. I got fruit, which was a nice diversion from potatoes, and an english muffin. My mom had a senior breakfast, and her eggs (over medium) were absolutely perfect. This is another lost skill. It is very typical for cooks to get that wrong. The potatoes were yummy (not greasy). Again, everything on the plate was hot. The only thing that was a bummer is the fact that they only have jelly (and orange marmalade) for the toast. I much prefer jams to jellies. But that is a small thing. Visited for the first time for a nice Sunday brunch. The food was very good, and the staff very friendly. The only downside was that due to the very busy Sunday crowd; seating / staff to client ratio was a bit hairy. We waited a good bit for food and the check. The seating was also a bit crowded. All told however, a good RTP lunch spot and good alternative to more commercial establishments. read more
