After searching for a couple of months and being frustrated by no callbacks and outrageous quotes I contacted VRC Management and couldn't be happier that I did. Jozef and his team were extremely attentive throughout the entire process, completed the work in a very reasonable time frame, and had competitive rates. Jozef even walked me through a couple of additional items that made a huge difference in the remodel including painting the cabinets instead of replacing (I don't know how they did it but they turned out perfectly), moving a cabinet for better sight lines, making a waterfall edge to update the counter, and putting a light in the newly installed stand up shower in the bathroom. All of the work is extremely high quality including some of the best tile work I have seen (and there was a lot of it). In the end I have an entirely new bathroom and kitchen in a place that now feels brand new. Thanks to Jozef and the entire VRC team!

Top of the line personal designer and service, he knows his stuff and is a good guy (most GC's no one ever trusts). I had a very bad experience using Jacob. My initial impression was that he was highly professional,…read moreand since he talked a big game I expected he would be very competent. His quotes were expensive but I've used a lot of contractors over the years in rehabbing my homes and serving on association boards, and know the value of paying extra for high quality help, so Jacob stood out. Unfortunately Jacob ended up having the terrible combination of being the most expensive while providing the worst quality work of anyone I've ever used. Jacob replaced a broken sump pump along with electrical changes to improve the setup. He was to provide me with a primary pump and a backup pump with "Battery back-up system w/ charging units to be installed for primary pump and secondary pump". Basically, the primary and secondary pump were supposed to both work with AC and DC power from a battery. The primary pump he installed only works on AC, so in a power outage it is worthless(exactly what I wanted to avoid). The backup is a much weaker pump and only works on DC. When I followed up with Jacob he insisted that the primary was just AC, but that it was also backed up, which makes no sense. I wasn't sure if he knew he was scamming me or just didn't know what he was talking about. After getting a chance to research the model he used, it is notorious for being cheap and unreliable. Worse, the electrical work was of embarrassing quality and I'll have to replace it before I could ever sell, and he actually charged me $300 extra due to some "surprise". There are multiple code violations and this job looks so terrible I've attached pictures of it. His reasoning is that I shouldn't care how it looks in my laundry room, and insisted it would pass inspection. Just as a finishing touch, he reused a 17 year old check valve instead of providing a new one, which saved himself ~$25 and threatens the integrity of the whole system. I had other contractors confirm my suspicions of his work and the pumps he used, as well as replace another sewage ejector pump at 1/3 the price of Andrew's quote for a separate project. Now I know I wasn't Jacob's favorite customer, as I was looking to use him for immediate help rebuilding our finished basement after a flood, and all of my other trusted contractors were busy and he was not. I went through different options with him to get the cost down, but at the end he was 50% more expensive than the next highest option, and his scope was much more limited (I was providing most of the materials myself). I had a bad feeling so I cancelled a few hours after telling him we were ready to go. He exploded with insults against me. I felt bad about what happened and know that business owners are competitive so I didn't hold it against him. I apologized and asked him if he would be willing to move forward with the sump pump work described above. This was my biggest mistake. He apologized back and agreed. Maybe his crap work was payback to me, but it is still his unprofessional work and exactly what you are paying to avoid when paying Jacob's prices. You can get quality work using licensed insured contractors that are much less expensive than Jacob. He has a few 5 star reviews out there, but he was so bad for me that I promised myself I would warn others as soon as I got a few moments to write a review.

We're happy with the results and feel great. AC made lots of suggestions we hadn't considered which turned out to be very helpful. This message was perceived as intimidation rather than an attempt to resolve the issues. *Another update (post Florin's reply) - Even Florin's reply to this review shows his retaliatory nature. His comment confirms exactly why I felt compelled to warn others. It is clear his reply is not intended to clarify facts but to retaliate after I posted my experience. Steer clear of Florin. He is an excellent salesperson upfront, but once the job starts, everything changes. He repeatedly emphasized how "honest" and "transparent" he is, yet my experience was the complete opposite. He missed deadlines, cut corners, and insisted on doing plumbing work himself that was far below acceptable standards. The issues started on day one. Despite assuring me he would protect all flooring, he placed his tools and bathroom demolition debris directly on my newly finished hardwood floors. That should have been the first sign - especially considering he had already collected a significant down payment. As a professional contractor, he structures his billing so he is always far ahead financially, making it extremely difficult for customers to stop work and hire someone else once issues appear. Things worsened when he improperly removed a radiator, causing a major flooding event that resulted in water damage from the upstairs bathroom through the main floor and into the basement. The drying and repairs dragged on for over a month, repairs that were only necessary because of his mistakes. The project ended up being more than six weeks late from the timeline we originally agreed upon. Even after all the delays, he still could not get the plumbing functioning. The vanity, faucets, and shower were all left incomplete and unusable. Despite this, he demanded payment and went as far as threatening to place liens on my property for work that wasn't even finished or functional. Looking back, a red flag occurred at the very beginning: Florin strongly encouraged not pulling permits so he could "expedite" the project and get started immediately. I now understand why. His work repeatedly failed to meet even basic standards, and it's clear he would not have passed a village inspection. This was one of the most stressful contractor experiences I've ever had.
