Mike went above and beyond to help us when our previous contractor completely botch the job, took our money and left the job site a complete disaster. Mike takes the time to review all aspects of the job. He went with us to pick out finishes, he is knowledgable with every product available and is able to walk you through the pros and cons. He has a great eye for finishes and product detail. Mike does a large portion of the work himself, his long time crew is incredible clean and conscious of being in your home and treating it with the upmost respect. Mike helped finish our kitchen remodel, he had to demo and redo 2 bathrooms, a primary bathroom and a 2nd bathroom, he had to fix a lot of plumbing and electrical work along with tile and trim work. He has an excellent fabricator as well. Mike has been in the business a long time and it shows through his extensive knowledge on construction and material. He uses a detailed construction app that helped him and us track every step of the project. Mike makes himself available even after the project is complete to check on things and make adjustments when needed. I cannot stress enough how great Yamane Development has been for us over the last couple years. First, they are not cheap but we get what we pay for. This company does the job right the first time, up to code, without cutting corners. **If something isn't right or needs to be fixed in the house, Yamane will either get it done right, or refer me to one of their reputable sources who will do it right.** We have used this company for the following projects: - new electrical panel - general annual household maintenance - masonry - custom built ins - disaster clean-up - seepage solutions - painting - drywall - roof patching - demolition and remodeling **My only 1 star rating would be concrete work that they contracted out to Merit Concrete who redid our front stoop last spring. We thought the work looked horrible (as did friends and family) and now, almost a year later, after 1 winter, the steps are beginning to crumble. The reason Yamane is keeping their 5 stars though is because upon noticing the crumbling steps the other day, they said they would make sure the concrete company corrects the problem. read more

When I lived in the Chicago area, I made the mistake of hiring this "company". They used the cheapest materials, didn't keep to a schedule, treated me and my family like dirt. They kept asking for extra money, though the job was nowhere near on schedule. When they FINALLY finished, it was so poorly done, we had to hire a REAL contractor to get it fixed! I am a carpenter and despite my pointing out all their obvious "mistakes" and cutting corners, they laughed it off and did what they wanted. The only thing that kept me from kicking them off my property was the deposit I'd paid. In hindsight, I wish I'd sent them packing and taken them to court to get the deposit back. DON'T HIRE THESE PEOPLE! You'll regret it! read more

We moved into a house with a fireplace that was less than spectacular - horrible. Pink brick 20 feet up in the shape of a tombstone - to say I hated it is an understatement. It was hard to even know where to begin on how to get rid of it and have our living room one to enjoy. Mike and his team worked their wonders and we now have the most beautiful hand made cherry wood mantle I've ever seen, not to mention they were able to box over the brick and install a secure mount for our TV. Yamane Development is the Best contractors ever. I know that is a bold statement but they really are. I had lots of water damage from an upstairs neighbor's water heater. Mike and his team made a nightmare situation not nearly as bad. Mike communicates well so there are no surprises. Since I was living in my condo as they made repairs, his team did a great job keep my place clean. What contractors do you know, that clean while they work. NONE, that is why you should hire these guys. My place looks better than before. I can go on all day, but the bottom line is if you want a contractor who does great work at a fair price, is on time, clean, and friendly, Yamane Development is the way to go. read more

I've owned and rented a few places over the years. I've worked with 15-20 contractors and vendors throughout the years, Yamane is hands down the worst, and the only one I've considered taking to court. They were by no means cheap, but since they were recommended by my plumber I gave them a chance. $2500 later the bathroom repair is much worse than if they never showed up. Mike has lots of excuses but no interest in righting the wrong. I would run, not walk to the next vendor. And I highly doubt that previous review is real....keep looking and good luck. read more

Yamane Development renovated our kitchen and first floor bathroom. Mike was the first contractor to say to me, "whatever we find, Yamane is up for the job" when we were talking about knocking down a wall not knowing what we would fine. He was confident and creative when working with us on ideas. I have found Mike and his team reliable and efficient. His responsiveness during the entire project put me at ease on a daily basis. The job was completed within the projected timeline and he communicated regularly with us along the way. Our kitchen and bathroom are absolutely beautiful and we love everything! I definitely feel like Yamane is a company I can go to in the future for my home improvement needs, including, but not limited to remodeling jobs. I have worked with Mike over the years on a few big home improvement projects and beyond being personable, timely, efficient, and accommodating...he does AMAZING work! He did a lot of custom cabinetry work for me years ago that changed the entire aesthetic of my apartment (for the better). He and his team (Justin who is also great!) recently remodeled both of my bathrooms and completed extensive drywall work to close off lofted space in my home. Everything looks fantastic and I am 100% pleased with the work! They do not cut corners and are extremely communicative as the project progresses to ensure you are getting exactly what you want.
