Inviting strangers into your house to make a lot of dust and noise can be stressful, but the whole crew was very nice and trustworthy which alleviates a lot of stress. Hiring AC as our contractor for 2 bathrooms, demo, framing/finishing, floor refinishing, plumbing, electrical, tile, project management, and CAD and cleanup restoration was a great value. We're happy with the results and feel great. AC made lots of suggestions we hadn't considered which turned out to be very helpful. At the same time they consulted with us and digested our direction very well. The BUILDERtrend app was also a great way to communicate during construction. Jon's company Artistic Construction is very thorough in their quotes and the work they do. What is best is that they are trustworthy! They are kind of like a good mechanic...when you find the one you are comfortable you stick with them. The rates are fair and the work is of the highest quality. I've seen work Artistic Construction has done other than our own and I have always been blown away by small projects and large ones alike. Give them a call...you really won't regret it. This was a large project on an old house, with all of the typical complications and unexpected 'surprises' that brings. We couldn't be happier with the results. We hired Jon and Artistic Construction to install 17 windows, a new front door and two new sets of patio doors. This was a big project with many custom sized windows, conversions from glass block, etc. Jon and his team were reasonably priced, in constant communication and went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. I can't say enough about Jon and his work. HIGHLY recommended. He's the only contractor I'll use. And his subcontractors are top notch. Everyone is courteous, friendly, and really good at what they do. Most importantly, he amazingly nice and stays on time/budget. I bought a VERY run down 2 flat investment property. Total gut rehab - stripped down to studs and floorboards, required new HVAC, roof, walls to be moved, electrical/plumbing, etc. Jon is thoughtful, professional, and always gave me options for balancing quality, aesthetics, time, and cost. We got permits to begin demo in mid-June. True to his word, he had it ready for renters on Sept 1... crews worked 10-12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week. Jon is onsite everyday, very responsive to phone calls/emails. One thing to note - he will not be your cheapest bid; for 2 reasons.. (1) You get what you pay for in this business. I've heard horror stories of other contractors who disappear, go way behind schedule, do crappy work and you're stuck with it, etc. Jon is top quality, his sub-contractors are top quality, and he stays on time. (2) he gives an honest bid up front rather than surprise you with budget overruns on the back end. I had 3 other contractors low-ball the bid to win the work (30-50% less than Jon). It was clear they would never get it done for that budget. Jon stayed on budget and was right about all of his assumptions of where we were likely to have "issues" in a 100 year old house. If you get a bid from him and it seems high, sit with him for a line-by-line explanation as to why. He's great at breaking things down. I couldn't be more happy with the job he did on this property. I plan to have him work on my primary residence this spring. read more

But with a complicated remodel job in a 100+ year old home I did not want to leave it up to anyone but a professional. Jon was helpful from the initial proposal to the final walk through. He explained all my options and the pros and cons of each choice. He was very helpful in sorting through and selecting fixtures and finishes that complimented our style. His crew members, Muñoz and Rick, were outstanding, very professional and extremely helpful and polite to my wife who was often home while they were working. By the time Jon & his team were finished with the job, they had even painted hallways and rooms adjacent to the project area at our request for no charge. We moved into a new condo and wanted to redo the kitchen. We had a vague notion of what we wanted to do, but didn't know much on the details. We spoke with a few contractors about it, and Jon immediately stood out in his creativity and problem-solving skills. He gave us some ideas we liked, he listened to us and changed the plans based on what we wanted, and the pricing was fully transparent. We knew when we wanted to do the fancy island that it would cost us more (and how much), and he worked with us to make sure the project fit our budget and our family's needs. I can't say enough good things about Jon and his crew. Here are the highlights: 1. Communication is phenomenal. Jon communicates (phone/text/email) honestly and professionally on appointments and plans, and he is up front about problems that are anticipated or that the team encounters. 2. Clean-up. We could use the surrounding rooms every day because the crew vacuumed and cleaned the entire area, every day. This made a huge difference in ensuring that the project did not cause a greater disruption than necessary. 3. Professional group. The crew is great, respectful and kind, wonderful with our dog (that we should have boarded while they were here..... sorry!). They take ownership as if it is their own place. They know their limits and embodied the sense of measure twice and cut once. I joined Yelp to write this review... I don't write many reviews, but such an excellent experience deserves one. Jon and the Artistic Construction team are the most professional, timely, efficient and responsive construction company we have ever worked with. We received an estimate and construction started as soon as we approved it. We could check in everyday to their software and see who was coming which day, doing which task. I could see when my payment due dates were and keep tabs on how my estimate was looking. The actual cost and estimate remained true. Anytime their was any slight deviation in the schedule, we were not just notified but consulted. All of the workers were polite, respectful, and engaging. As a female, I sometimes find that people assume I don't understand things like plumbing, electricity, building, etc. However all the staff for Artistic Construction explained things thoroughly and openly, and I just could not be happier with my interactions. Any remodeling job is stressful, but Artistic Construction is so detail oriented that they go out of their way to relieve this stress for customers. Everything they did was aesthetically perfect. I was told "good luck with your project" OK... They don't even know what my project entails since I never spoke with anyone. Good luck with your projects 2!! I guess, I would've appreciated if they called back and said we will be available to start on a project in september, are you interested in waiting? Late fall 2013 I had Jon out to bid the rebuilding of my back porch. He told me he was really busy with work but would be able to fit in my job before winter got too bad since it was small and he was working near by. He had great ideas, took pictures and measurements and I was very excited to work with him. I waited and waited to get the proposal to me, but it never arrived. I never even heard from him again. He didn't return my phone messages. Completely blew off my job. I guess my job was too small for him? Very bummed since the reviews on yelp have been outstanding. read more

I worked with two different contractors on upgrades to my new condo, and Jon and his team were far and away the better of the two. I hired Jon to do all of my grout and tile work, and another group to do the painting, and I wish I'd had Jon do the painting, too! He and his team were totally trustworthy, polite, and did lovely work. I am all about attention to details, and they have it - there isn't anything they did that I was unsatisfied with. Also, they were super clean. They took the time to lay down a lot of protection over my floors and counters, and cleaned up after themselves better than any work crew I've ever used. I also really liked that he had an online project management site to track the work and billing, so there was no guessing. The other thing is that I felt like the painter I used wanted to nickel and dime me a bit and slacked on the project because it wasn't high bid. Jon was absolutely not like that. He was very clear and upfront about costs, and I feel like I got the same high quality of workmanship for my small project as I would've if it was a full house job. This is my second review of Jon and his company. They recently finished a big garage demolition/construction project for me. Words cannot express how amazing Jon is to work with on a project. He is responsive, professional, has incredible ideas, stays on schedule and the end result is amazing. I thought I knew what I wanted to do, how I wanted it to look, but after talking it over with Jon he came up additional creative ideas that I wouldn't have thought of before. He turned a potentially stressful time (design, demolition, construction) into something wonderful. I never thought I would love a garage, but every time I open the door I smile. Strangely enough, we have even had a few strangers come by and compliment us on the beautiful work! I think the biggest thing is trust - after being burned by past contractors, I have been reluctant to get needed work done, but now I actually look forward to construction projects with Jon and his team! read more
