Cinnamon
Nikki R.

This sugary treat was delicious. They are a little small in size but worth it. The cinnamon is my favorite with the raspberry dip. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is nicely decorated, cozy, and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is fast and friendly. The powered sugar beignets are sure to mess your clothes up. So grab plenty of napkins if you opp for this selection. The cinnamon is the safest option yet super delicious and pairs well with the different dips in my opinion. These beignets remind me of a jelly donut that are best eaten when hot. Your sweet tooth will surely be satisfied.

This place used to be a pizza spot that I used to go to during the pandemic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the rebranding and new decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was very delicious ! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also wide hallway for my massive stroller is a plus![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally, we came to this spot when it was not crowded and the lines didn't extend all the way outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] lol. We got half of the powdered sugar (not in the photo) and cinnamon sugar. Both were good, but I recommend getting the powdered sugar. Also, got the chocolate dipping sauce. I honestly like eating the beignets by itself, but its boils down to your preference!

Okay... having been to New Orleans and tried the fabulous beignets at Cafe Du Monde, I can say these are so much like them. DELISH!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating is few only 4 chairs at a table by the window, conducive for people for watching.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, we sat there and enjoyed thoroughly our coffee, hot chocolate and my fav chai...mwah so good. Along with 4 orders of beignets, no dipping sauce required, as they should stand alone, and they did. Jae was awesome in referring us to thus place and the service was spot on very good. I so plan on going back again if I'm fortunate enough to be back in the area. Definitely recommend.

Cinnamon beignets with vanilla dip

We stopped in on a weekday mid-afternoon. Ordered: - cinnamon sugar beignets with vanilla sauce - chai latte - friends order - oat milk latte - my order [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat in the back (larger and more comfy than the front) and waited for our order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I picked up the order with a small tray. The drinks were labeled on the bottom. I drank mine, it was too sweet. Come to find out they mislabeled it. lol! I didn't ask for any sweetener or flavor in mine which is how I knew it was off. The staff member quickly replaced it and offered another drink for my friend. The beignets were good but hollow on the inside, not as thick and fluffy as I would've expected. Taste was good! Black owned too!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Quick food, friendly service and a great seating area in the back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love how many topping options there were beignets were soft and hot. Coffee was delicious.

I ordered the powdered sugar beignets with chocolate sauce, and they were really good; fresh, warm, and perfectly sweet. The chocolate sauce was a great addition and paired well with the beignets. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ben YaYs itself looked nice and well kept, and the service was good and attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a dining area in the back with tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I'd definitely come back to enjoy them again.

Erika J.

Beignets were good but not amazing. They were more airy and hollow than authentic beignets but nonetheless they taste good. I would come back but I wouldn't make a special trip

Once I heard that there was a Black-owned beignet restaurant in Alexandria, I had to make my way over after brunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can feel the New Orleans-style vibe throughout the restaurant with various artwork and beads.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices can't be beat either, with 3 only costing $5.95 (even though I got 4 with my order). While all 4 were inconsistent in density and thickness, the flavor and crunch were definitely there. They were nice and hot as well, with a generous amount of powdered sugar. I can only imagine how well they taste with coffee. Next time.

Wow, I am actually surprised how good these were! I've been to New Orleans so many times, and although the beignets are not exactly the same, they were still delicious and airy. We bought 3 of the powdered sugar and 3 of the cinnamon sugar, but we ended up buying more! The store looks small from the front, but there are more seating and tables in the back. I will come here again when I crave beignets!

Camryn K.

I was pretty excited to try the beignets here, as I have been meaning to come here for a while. When we came in and ordered, the worker was somewhat rude, and just seemed a little bit annoyed or mad. We ended up getting 2 orders of the beignets with powdered sugar, one with the vanilla sauce and the other with the chocolate sauce. The beignets were pretty tasty, albeit inconsistently cooked. Some of them were hollow while some were more dense. The sauces were thicker than I expected them to be, but I thought they were a good addition. I definitely liked the vanilla better than the chocolate though. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a decent amount of seating in the back, and I could see this being a good place to study.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would recommend this place for good beignets!

Worth the hype & worth the parking hassle. Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria off King St. is this beignets cafe. The beignets are either powder sugared or cinnamon sugar based with multiple dipping sauces to choose from. There's a variety of coffee choices to pick from. There's an additional seating area in the back to dine in. Great customer service.

The kind where one cookie can easily be shared (or not lol ). They're rich and sweet, so if you're someone who loves a heavy dessert that feels like a treat-treat, you'll be in heaven. Easily a 10/10 for that category. What really stood out to me was the variety of flavors. I tried the strawberry matcha cookie and was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. It had a really nice balance of flavors and didn't feel gimmicky at all. It's always a risk trying something a little different, but this one definitely paid off. Another thing I appreciated was that they had a section of cookies discounted because they were made the night before. I love when places do this...it's a great way to try more flavors without spending a lot, and honestly, the cookies were still really good. Service-wise, the cashier was super helpful and patient, especially when it came to explaining flavors and giving recommendations. That always makes a difference when you're staring at a case full of options and can't decide.

Not because of the flavors, but the ways you can get your sweet treat (like, cone, cup, sundae, etc.) and other various options (like ice cream, sorbet, custard, etc.) I sampled a couple of sorbet flavors and ended up with a small cup of those two flavors. A small cup is two scoops so it was perfect! The flavors were Lemon Lavender and POG (pomegranate, orange, guava). At first I think I liked the lavender best, but as I continued to eat, I think POG stole the show. They were both refreshing and flavorful and I appreciated the blends to give my tastebuds new flavors. Del Ray is such a cute neighborhood too. I sat outside at the tables/benches to eat. If you're planning a visit, their website is pretty slim and doesn't list all the options for getting a sweet treat. I do think it would be helpful for it to include those options. But others have posted pictures of their menu so you can search for that.

The server person was clearly impatient with him but made me a little uncomfortable. I got the "Kit Kat" ice cream sandwich. It came in an Oreo wafer and was chocolate custard and was hard as a rock, plus was bland. I had to go back in and ask if it was actually the right thing, since it was so unrelated to KitKat. The cashier guy said yeah, it is KitKat. I told him it was nasty. It was $7.70 when all was said and done. Don't be back.

On this day I was in The Dairy Godmother and noticed that Just Fine was also located there, so it was a good opportunity to try. It was a Saturday night almost 9pm and I didn't realize they were about to close. When I ordered my donut, I asked if I was getting ice cream too, should I pay separately or together and I was informed that since they were about to close, the donuts were free! And they asked if I wanted to try any others. So I got: mango tajin, chocolate cake (not pictured) and chocolate glazed. The chocolate cake was dry and didn't have much flavor. The chocolate glazed was my favorite. The donut was cakey and reminded me of some sweet treat from my childhood that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe some of the Entenmann's donuts? Anyway, it was really good for being a simple and plain donut. The manjo tajin wasn't bad. It's a plain vanilla cake donut with the mango and tajin in the icing. The flavors were good, but it wasn't worth me finishing. I love donuts and I love specialty donuts. While they may have some, this wasn't a place that I will include in my regular donut rotation, but I'm glad I finally got to try them.

Either way I just found Lily's Chocolate & Coffee while venturing up and down King Street, and well with the help of Yelp because this was a plan to visit later in October. But, I decided my kiddos needed a treat. Located on a corner you walk into hues of pink, florals and the smell of chocolate and coffee. I became immediately distracted by the toppings and melted chocolate. But, when I snapped out of it, I was able to place my order. I opted for the Dubai chocolate inspiration over strawberries. If I remember correctly it was around $20 five or take. The cafe is so cute. It is small and if crowded be prepared to navigate that. There is bathrooms inside but, I do not know if it is for customers or not, as they were locked when we were there. The staff were just starting for the day. But they were helpful, kind and ready to roll. Once we received our order we sat down and dug right in. The strawberries were fresh, large and draped over in chocolate, pistachio cream and katifia. This is not my first time having Dubai chocolate or Dubai inspired chocolate. I thoroughly enjoy it over strawberries. There is just something about chocolate ad strawberries. Overall a wonderful place. I highly recommend visiting

After taking a look at the candy, gelato and desserts, we settled on key lime pie. The key lime pie was pretty good, though it was perhaps a little too sweet and the filling rather dry. Because we were first time customers, the shopkeeper offered us each a piece of complimentary candy. The candy had a shell filled with a confection containing Japanese citrus yuzu fruit. The shell was coated with dark chocolate. I'm just going to say this was the tastiest, most delightful candy I've ever sampled. Dolce & Bean also sells attractively designed packages of candies. These would make good gifts. We absolutely will be back for more candy and want to try the gelato. One minor thing is that the shop was chilly and I had to put my hoodie on. But heck, aren't most restaurants and stores around the DMV freezing cold in the summer?
