Visited this cute & cozy spot on a Saturday afternoon. There was a constant stream of customers. The front of the restaurant is small so if more than 10 people are waiting, it could start feeling crowded quickly. There's a lot more seating available in the back. I was waiting for my cousins so I grabbed one of the coveted seats in the front. I enjoyed my piping pillowy soft beignets & iced dirty chai (they were out of matcha). I also appreciate the option of free dipping sauce. The strawberry sauce had more of a jam consistency. The vanilla had more of a traditional sauce texture. They offer other baked goods too, but the menu is not expansive.
This is a must go for a sweet treat while exploring Old Town. The beignets with powdered sugar and raspberry were perfect for two to split with coffee. I brought my coffee with me but noticed they had a few options there. My sister was not crazy about her chai latte but loved the beignets! There are four chairs in the front to enjoy some people watching and additional seating further back.
This sugary treat was delicious. They are a little small in size but worth it. The cinnamon is my favorite with the raspberry dip. The restaurant is nicely decorated, cozy, and clean. The service is fast and friendly. The powered sugar beignets are sure to mess your clothes up. So grab plenty of napkins if you opp for this selection. The cinnamon is the safest option yet super delicious and pairs well with the different dips in my opinion. These beignets remind me of a jelly donut that are best eaten when hot. Your sweet tooth will surely be satisfied.
This place used to be a pizza spot that I used to go to during the pandemic. I love the rebranding and new decor. The food was very delicious ! Also wide hallway for my massive stroller is a plus!

Okay... having been to New Orleans and tried the fabulous beignets at Cafe Du Monde, I can say these are so much like them. DELISH!!! The seating is few only 4 chairs at a table by the window, conducive for people for watching. However, we sat there and enjoyed thoroughly our coffee, hot chocolate and my fav chai...mwah so good. Along with 4 orders of beignets, no dipping sauce required, as they should stand alone, and they did. Jae was awesome in referring us to thus place and the service was spot on very good. I so plan on going back again if I'm fortunate enough to be back in the area. Definitely recommend.
Got the cinnamon sugar benyays was tasty. The white icing and strawberry is delicious. Definitely worth the travel. Employees were nice and friendly. Space is kinda small very homey.

I didn't ask for any sweetener or flavor in mine which is how I knew it was off. The staff member quickly replaced it and offered another drink for my friend. The beignets were good but hollow on the inside, not as thick and fluffy as I would've expected. Taste was good! Black owned too!
I ordered the powdered sugar beignets with chocolate sauce, and they were really good; fresh, warm, and perfectly sweet. The chocolate sauce was a great addition and paired well with the beignets. Ben YaYs itself looked nice and well kept, and the service was good and attentive. It has a dining area in the back with tables and chairs. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I'd definitely come back to enjoy them again.

Wow, I am actually surprised how good these were! I've been to New Orleans so many times, and although the beignets are not exactly the same, they were still delicious and airy. We bought 3 of the powdered sugar and 3 of the cinnamon sugar, but we ended up buying more! The store looks small from the front, but there are more seating and tables in the back. I will come here again when I crave beignets!
Beignets were good but not amazing. They were more airy and hollow than authentic beignets but nonetheless they taste good. I would come back but I wouldn't make a special trip
Once I heard that there was a Black-owned beignet restaurant in Alexandria, I had to make my way over after brunch. You can feel the New Orleans-style vibe throughout the restaurant with various artwork and beads. The prices can't be beat either, with 3 only costing $5.95 (even though I got 4 with my order). While all 4 were inconsistent in density and thickness, the flavor and crunch were definitely there. They were nice and hot as well, with a generous amount of powdered sugar. I can only imagine how well they taste with coffee. Next time.
My middle child watched The Princess and the Frog at camp last week and came home determined to try beignets. Naturally, Mom had to make it happen. So Sunday morning, I pulled up to Ben'YaYs with the whole crew ready to see what the hype was about. When we walked in, there were already a few people inside, but it wasn't overwhelmingly busy. The young lady working the register was absolutely wonderful. She was patient, attentive, and even let my son take over the ordering process when he started telling her exactly what our family wanted. One thing I really appreciated was her recommendation when I started ordering multiple individual orders of beignets. She suggested that we get a box instead, which was actually the better deal and saved me some money. Listen, I love when somebody helps me spend less money without me having to ask! We went with a box of the original beignets plus two orders of the cinnamon sugar beignets. Since we got the box, we also got three dipping sauces. And if you have kids under 10, you already know that anything they can dip is automatically more exciting. Our order came out pretty quickly, and let me just say... THESE BEIGNETS WERE GOOD. Like, everybody was already talking about coming back before we had even finished eating. Four of the five people with me had never had a beignet before, so they had nothing to compare them to. But I've had beignets in New Orleans AND locally, and I can confidently say these held their own. Light, delicious, covered in that glorious powdered sugar, and the cinnamon sugar ones were a fun addition. The front area is on the smaller side, but thankfully there's a back seating area where you can actually sit down and enjoy your food. That made a big difference with my family. And let's talk parking because this is important! Street parking is pretty sparse, especially on a Sunday during church hours. Thankfully, there's paid parking behind the restaurant. I paid about $3, which was well worth not driving around the block 17 times looking for a spot. Would I come back? Absolutely. The kids are already asking when we're going again, and honestly, I'm not mad about it. read more
Love, love, LOVE this place! We ordered a dozen Ben yay's and all the sauces: vanilla cream, chocolate, raspberry, and strawberry. My daughter bought them one time and brought them home - and they are not the same as eating them freshly made at the cafe! You have to eat them fresh!!! They're delicious even without any of the sauces. Can't wait to go back when I visit my daughter! 10 out of 10 for me! ENJOY! read more

I went to Ben'YaYs on a Wednesday afternoon to do a little work. The front where you place your order is a small room with a few bar height chairs at a bar at the window. But there is a much larger room in the back with a variety of tables, chairs and the restroom. I sat on a long cushioned bench with a couple of different tables by the big window. I wanted to sit at a small table in the back but the speaker was right above the table and was playing music a little too loudly. I also wanted to be near an outlet and didn't see one by the tables on the wall closer to the restroom. It wasn't super busy, but a few folks came and went while I was there for a couple of hours. But I was comfortable and able to work well. I ordered an Americano to support the business. Parking is street and mostly paid, unless you walk a couple of blocks south to free 2 hour parking. I would return here, both to work and to try their beignets. It was tough to stick to my diet while everyone around me was enjoying some! read more

Worth the hype & worth the parking hassle. Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria off King St. is this beignets cafe. The beignets are either powder sugared or cinnamon sugar based with multiple dipping sauces to choose from. There's a variety of coffee choices to pick from. There's an additional seating area in the back to dine in. Great customer service. read more
Perfect day for beignets! Perfect corner spot to stop after our lunch date. Small clean café with seating in the back. Two difference seasoning (powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar) and 4 sauces (raspberry, strawberry, vanilla, dark chocolate) to choose from. I was pretty excited to try the beignets here, as I have been meaning to come here for a while. When we came in and ordered, the worker was somewhat rude, and just seemed a little bit annoyed or mad. We ended up getting 2 orders of the beignets with powdered sugar, one with the vanilla sauce and the other with the chocolate sauce. The beignets were pretty tasty, albeit inconsistently cooked. Some of them were hollow while some were more dense. The sauces were thicker than I expected them to be, but I thought they were a good addition. I definitely liked the vanilla better than the chocolate though. There is a decent amount of seating in the back, and I could see this being a good place to study. I would recommend this place for good beignets! read more
Beware all people wearing black, but don't let it stop you! You've got a choice between the OG powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar beignets, and a chocolate, vanilla, or jam sauce. The service was fast and I got my order in less than 5 minutes. The beignets were warm, perfectly puffed, and a tower of powdered sugar on each. With a mocha and tip, my order came to $14. I found it easiest to drizzle the sauce into the beignet after taking a bite. There's extra seating in the back and a small bathroom to clean up any mess leftover from the sugar. Don't be scared of the mess, it's worth it! read more

Great beignets located in old town Alexandria. Stumbled on this place a bit on accident and was impressed with the beignets. I go to New Orleans every year and these were on par with the ones there. I like my beignets a bit more doughy on the inside and thick. The was beignets were more airy and cooked a bit longer than the ones in New Orleans. Still delicious. The beignets come with a sauce of your choosing. I don't think the beignets needed the sauce but it's free so why not. Service was friendly and it's located next to other shops and restaurants in the area. read more
Popped in to grab an order of the regular powdered sugar beignets & was met with friendly and quick service. The beignets were fresh and hot and delicious. As a Cafe Du Monde frequent flyer, I'd say these beignets, while smaller, are quite tasty too. Didn't love the chocolate dipping sauce though- it felt like plain chocolate syrup, which really isn't necessary on a truly good beignet- but hey, I love having the options to dip! We were excited to try out this newish spot in Old Town, Alexandria as we love New Orleans and Cafe Du Monde. Nice corner spot within the hub, with counter service in front and dining-in area in the back. There is a counter also at front window with bar-stools. The decor is nice and Customer service was friendly. We did a coffee (not as hot as we like) with an order of both types of Beignets (powder & cinnamon) with raspberry & strawberry sauce. It was not crazy crowded which we were worried about, but the wait was longer than expected, so not sure if they were swamped how it would go. Tables needed to be wiped down, but just powder sugar from Beignets and a young lady was coming to do after we left so maybe short-staffed. Restrooms are available (one was out of order), but clean & stocked which is a plus in Old Town. Beignets were decent, slightly crispy, but fluffy on inside. Paired with the sauce made for a nice treat to go with coffee. Overall, not bad, kind of pricy but it is Old Town. Not overly excited to visit again, but did make us miss New Orleans. read more

As a tourist visiting the area during the winter, this was a great place to get warm and fresh beignets with a well made espresso macchiato. A little overboard with the powdered sugar in my opinion but nothing a little tap can't resolve :) My order came out fairly quick and staff was great at helping me pick an option when I mentioned I had never been there before It looks small when you walk in but there is a hallway that leads to the back area where there are much more seating options read more
This place offers the fried dough and bitter beverages classic to New Orleans in another old European area. The space is narrow, has some dated window AC, and could use an update, which to be fair is pretty authentic to the New Orleans experience. They offer either powdered or cinnamon sugar on the beignets and a variety of sauces. Vanilla seemed like a wasted choice, but I was sold on it and it was worthwhile, especially with the cinnamon sugar. A chicory cafe au lait was quite bitter, and of course the reason this combination came to be is that the sugar of the beignets and the bitterness of the drink are meant to be a contrast. I still wouldn't be in a hurry to order it again, but I could see the point. read more
My friends and I were feeling snackish while walking around Old Town this past Thursday afternoon so we stopped by Ben' YaYs for some beignets. I've also seen this cafe on my Instagram feed, so it was already on my radar. BEIGNETS - 5.99 Each order comes with three beignets, which is the perfect for a small bite. Each beignet was topped generously with fine, powdered sugar. I had to be careful to not inhale the sugar, which would have been a choking hazard. The beignets were fresh, warm, and lightly sweet. However, we agreed that it could have been lighter and fluffier. Overall, solid snack choice if you want something small to share. read more

You can get the original (powdered sugar) or cinnamon sugar beignets, and your choice of sauce: chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, or vanilla. To drink: a variety of hot and cold freshly roasted Ethiopian Coffee (drip and espresso-based), teas, hot chocolate, and bottled drinks. I grabbed the OG with an English Breakfast tea. The crispy outside with soft/ hollow center beignets came piping hot in a bag, and I decided on the rich chocolate dipping sauce. Amazing cafe with bengeits that certainly live up to its name. The food and drinks here remind me of Tiana's cafe at the start of the movie with delicious desserts. The Chai latte both hot and iced is absolutely delectable that puts Starbucks and Pete's coffee to SHAME. Every employee there is nice and the service is similar to Starbucks and there are multiple places to hang around in. The environment and ambiance there is super chill and is inspired by a New Orleans type of vibe. My favorite place to sit is the booth right by the big window where the sun hits perfectly in every time and makes it very beautiful and perfect for photos. They also offer books that you can borrow and read which their selection is actually pretty good and this has to be my favorite feature. read more

I came across this restaurant on Yelp and immediately wanted to try it. I've had beignets at different locations but never at a dedicated beignet bakery. They were so soft, pillowy. I enjoyed the cinnamon and powdered sugar beignet with a matcha. The matcha was basic and little too milky for my likening. Service was alright. They were quick and to the point. We seated ourselves in a cozy booth. The restrooms and overall facilities were clean. Adding this to my visit again list. read more

This is a great spot for a quick treat and a cup of coffee. I had a classic or sugar beignet. You get a couple in a bag and I suggest you grab a couple extra napkins, because the bag is loaded with powdered sugar and there's nothing wrong with that! They also have a decent amount of seating (for Alexandria) and they serve a great cup of coffee as well. You can expect the vibe or the motif to feel a little bit New Orleansy and it does feel that way but I would describe it as modern, clean and cozy. It won't set you back an arm and a leg so please don't forget to thank the staff for the delicious food and beverage. read more
Immediately walking in, the smell is mesmerizing. We ordered both the powered beignet and the cinnamon sugar, both orders coming with 3 each. I also got a dirty chai. Although the chai was not my favorite, the beignet were delicious! A bit smaller than those in New Orleans but the softness and flavor were not lacking. Service was quick and lovely.
