La Madeleine is a beautiful French bakery with a charming and inviting atmosphere. The service was very good, friendly and attentive. However, the food itself was not amazing. The pastries were not heated up when served. Even after requesting them to be warmed, they still were not heated properly, which took away from the overall experience. On a positive note, the hot chocolate was good and comforting. Overall, it's a lovely place to sit and enjoy the ambiance, but I do wish there was more attention to detail when it comes to serving the food as expected.

Fantastic breakfast- freshly made to order and very tasty! Love how they stay true to French cafes. I had to wait a bit for my coffee but it was an inordinate amount of time it just had me thinking coffee was self serve so I wound up with two coffees which was a little funny

They sell old food and just put a new label on the expired label. I thought under new management they would do better.

Best chicken sesear salad sandwich I've EVER HAD!!! the employees are super nice and patience, I order a sachet Torte Parfait and it was so good and it's the best restaurant in the DC 10/10 would recommend.

It was hot and humid and late and we wanted something quick. And we saw this place. The service was great. It was also relatively cheap compared to other offerings in the area. The food was just ok. The French onion soup resembled what we had in Paris but the sandwiches were just ok at best. There's a Tatte cafe a little further down the street which we had the day before and we thought was far superior in terms of food but then they probably cater to different people.

Nice, large space. We were greeted upon entering and placed an order for two lemonades. After waiting 15 min, no drinks! When we asked about the status the guy behind the counter had no idea the drink orders were put in and had to ask what the order was. The hibiscus strawberry lemonade had a good flavor. Downsize, it was mostly ice.

I've enjoyed every La Madeleine location I've visited, and I recently visited the one in Old Town Alexandria again and really enjoyed it! The Old Town location is warm, welcoming, and spacious! I visited on the morning of Alexandria's annual Scottish Christmas Parade, so it was really crowded as the restaurant is right outside the parade route. Seating was still available, as this place has ample seating. My favorite things to order at La Madeleine are their delicious and famous tomato soup (so good!) and their Linzer cookie. Our table ordered the following when I visited recently: -Avocado Toast -Tomato soup -French country breakfast (this is a hearty meal!) -coffee This is a fast casual place and you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. Silverware is located in little cups at the front, and it's basically a no frills place. Prices are super reasonable, and the food has always been fresh and delicious whenever I've visited. I will certainly visit again in the future!

I love this La Madeleine! It's my favorite location. The staff is friendly and do their best. It is a busy place in Old Town! Especially during breakfast and lunch when I've been. I always get the chicken friand and the tomato soup. The epic tomato soup is warm, cheesy, thick, and delicious! The chicken friand is crispy and that mushroom sauce is to die for yummy! I love the French bakery feel and the cute French farm-style decor. There is a big parking lot nearby so that went well. Don't forget dessert, The chocolate eclair and Sacher Torte are amazing, a must try!

Food was great. Service was great. It is an adorable cafe in the heart of King Street. Highly recommend. The Nutella muffin was delicious as was the Quiche. The country breakfast was made fresh.

This is probably a 2.5 since I wouldn't come here unless someone made me. I've been to this la Madeleine a few times and always felt it wasn't good TBH but I decided to try them again. This time, I had: Pumpkin Streusel Muffin - Dry (how is this possible with pumpkin), and lacked flavor (again, how?) Potato Galette - Sounds good, right? It's shredded potatoes. No, you would be wrong. Again, where is the flavor? Berries & Cream Individual Cheesecake - Saved the visit, kinda. This was good but nothing special. At least it was flavorful cream cheese, tasty graham cracker crust, and fresh berries. As I said, I wouldn't go back unless someone REALLY wanted to. Even then, I'd probably try to persuade them to go to any other sort of fast casual place in the vicinity.

Great food and great service at a reasonable private. Maybe not a gourmet meal but it is great for what is essentially fast food.

He was in the mood for Lahmacun (sounds like Lahamajoun) super thin, crispy pizza topped with a mixture of minced meat with peppers, tomato, herbs, and spices. More fine, light, and delicate than the typical American thin pizza. The service, drinks, and food were beyond stellar in Narman. We felt like the only customers there and were waited on by many staff. The highlight of the day there was their pizza and their beverage presentation and flavors. We came on a weekday night and were the only people there in the end. My husband was impressed at how upscale the restaurant was and it was the finest Turkish restaurant he ever visited. He said it was similar to the hotel dining place he lived at in Turkey. This was our first restaurant in downtown Alexandria and one of our best experiences in Alexandria. The Lahmacun was the finest Turkish pizza my husband ever had. He ordered three of them! Each pizza was served on a large wood board with extra toppings on the side like lemon wedges, cilantro, and onions. They are so fine and thin that you can roll them up to eat. We had to put some of the last pizza aside for take out. I ate the takeout piece and was very impressed how delicious it was after being in the fridge overnight & re-heated. I loved the flavors of the Lahmacun and I don't even care for pizza that much. It is my most preferred pizza in my life ever next to the Crazy Ex in The Thirsty Goat in Clarksville, Tennessee. I ordered a Turkish dish with a rich and ancient history, Hunkar Begendi, or "Sultan's Delight." It dates back several centuries, and it was prepared for the sultans and high-ranking officials, and was served during special occasions and celebrations. The Hunkar Begendi had lamb and velvet soft eggplant with spices. I ordered it with a side of rice. It was very delicious and unique. Yet the Lahmacun despite its simplicity stole the show and cost 1/3 of the price of the Hunkar Begendi. For my beverage, I ordered The Elma. It has a stunning presentation in a smoke filled glass box. The Elma is a beverage with Bourbon, Peach liquor, vanilla maple, Apple butter,Lemon juice, and Apple cider. You have to watch the videos of how it is presented at the table. At the end of our dinner, they played happy birthday and surprised my husband with an ice cream and pumpkin dessert with a candle. So wonderful & heartfelt. It was a fascinating and flavorful dish. The pumpkin tasted like sweet potato & was different. This is a must see place for Turkish cuisine and the finest restaurant service. Prices are low to fair for such high quality food and service. Five Stars.

The place can get quite busy so I would highly recommend making a reservation first. We ordered some cocktails which all tasted amazing, I enjoyed the espresso martini the most. The tuna tarate was refreshing and tasted really good as well. I highly recommend ordering the fish curry or their scallop entree. My wife and I arrived around 1:20 p.m. on a Thursday. The lunch crowd was still going strong, which only reinforced that we had picked a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately. When we walked in, there was no hostess to be found. After waiting about four minutes, she finally appeared and offered us a choice between a small table in the corner or one by the bar. Given how busy the restaurant was, we took the table by the bar. About seven minutes later, someone finally came by to offer us water and explained that our server was busy, but she would help us in the meantime. No problem. We ordered the Avo Goddess Salad and asked that it be split so we could share it. A few minutes later, our server arrived, introduced herself, and we let her know we had already ordered the salad and were ready to place our lunch orders. She was very helpful in guiding my wife toward the Old Bay Shrimp Burger. I was excited to order the Shrimp and Grits until I learned it contained Andouille sausage and, according to our server, couldn't be prepared without it. Since the restaurant highlights that everything is made from scratch, that surprised me. I ended up ordering the Ahi Tuna Salad instead. So far, so good. Then came the frustration. We spent the next 20 minutes slowly picking at our salad, growing increasingly hungry and confused. You know something is wrong when guests who were seated after you begin receiving their meals before you. Finally, at 2:10 p.m., our food arrived: my Ahi Tuna Salad and a Pulled Lamb Sandwich for my wife. Except my wife had ordered the Shrimp Burger. When we pointed out the mistake to what was now our third server, she quickly assured us it would be corrected. A few minutes later, our original server returned and took full responsibility. She explained that the lamb and shrimp items are next to each other in the POS system and she accidentally selected the wrong item. She assured us the Shrimp Burger would be out in two minutes and suggested we enjoy the fries that came with the lamb sandwich while we waited. Unfortunately, another ten minutes passed before the burger finally arrived. Here's where things became truly disappointing: the top bun was still cold--almost frozen. My wife ended up removing it entirely and eating the sandwich with just the bottom bun. At best, the Shrimp Burger was decent, but certainly not worth the wait and frustration. As for my Ahi Tuna Salad, it felt like something I could easily make at home, especially considering the $25 price tag. I'm also not entirely convinced the tuna was particularly fresh. I can't bring myself to give Matt and Tony's one star because the atmosphere is genuinely cool and inviting. So I settled on two stars--mostly for how I felt before the experience unraveled. And listen, I get it. Mistakes happen. We're all human. But as someone who eats out frequently, here's one piece of advice: when a restaurant makes a significant mistake with a customer's order, consider taking that item off the bill. Sometimes that gesture is the only reason a guest decides to come back.
