However, I noticed a sick/injured bird in the parking lot on the way in, and I wanted to help. I knew it was a long shot, but after some failed Google attempts, I asked the cashier if she knew of any nearby wildlife rescues. She and two others helped me to investigate, gave me a box for the bird (with air holes), and all showed the same concern that I had. Sadly, the bird passed away on the way to the rescue, but I'd like to give the employees five stars for the non-traditional customer service and for being wonderful human beings. It's nice to know there are still kind, compassionate people out there. Thanks again! Note for any senior managers who may be reading this: The store was nearly empty at this time (I may even have been the only customer there), so the help I received did not affect these employees' normal duties in any way.

The last place we visited was Bedding Barn (North Haven), and although Richard was a initially a little gruff with the sales pitch (that was fine with us, we're fine with getting to the point), his attention to us and customer service were top notch. He faithfully did a price match, saving us a couple hundred on the mattress we selected, and provided us with great information about what we asked for, without trying to "oversell" every sheet, comforter and pillowcase. He was so confident about our selection and experience in the store, he had all the paperwork ready for us when we returned later in the afternoon. Even the delivery service was flawless. Our mattress was delivered within 2 days, they called when they said they would call, and showed up when they said they would. One last kudo - the delivery guys helped us to figured out that we had been charged for a mattress set when we only needed the mattress (misunderstanding with the price match). Bedding Barn took care of refunding the difference with no hassle at all. I still recommend shopping around to find the best mattress for your needs, but do yourself a favor and check out Bedding Barn before you purchase!

My friend said his parents got their bed at Restopedic so we gave it a shot. When we parked, we weren't quite sure we were in the right spot as it looks, I'm sure, exactly how it did in the '60s. (The main pic on Yelp is exactly how it looks - like a nondescript factory-ish building). Inside there's a small 'show room' area with about 8 beds. Kathy, the saleswoman, was helping another couple but told us the two beds to try out that were on the firmer side. We sort of hopped back and forth between the two and my back felt better on one so we decided to go for it. I couldn't believe when I read the price tag that this locally made, king size bed was $950. Similar ones at Jordan's would be running us $1500+. This place isn't super modern but that seems to work in the customer's favor - we paid tax on the mattress, but no delivery fee! They make the mattresses right there in the factory portion of the store (visible from the 'showroom' area). We've only had the bed a week so we're still getting used to it. The biggest positive is that, since they make the beds there, if you're not happy, they can take it back and add/take away some layers to make it softer or firmer. At this point, you would pay a delivery fee to have it brought back again, but still a deal. The place in Branford had no exchange, no refund, etc. so if you hated it, you were stuck. Jordan's is $150 if you want to swap out your mattress. So far, I am happy we only paid about $1000 and can get it altered if necessary. Kathy was very pleasant to work with and I'd highly recommend going to this place to check out their mattresses! The one we got is also flippable (meaning the top side and the bottom side are identical).
