However, I noticed a sick/injured bird in the parking lot on the way in, and I wanted to help. I knew it was a long shot, but after some failed Google attempts, I asked the cashier if she knew of any nearby wildlife rescues. She and two others helped me to investigate, gave me a box for the bird (with air holes), and all showed the same concern that I had. Sadly, the bird passed away on the way to the rescue, but I'd like to give the employees five stars for the non-traditional customer service and for being wonderful human beings. It's nice to know there are still kind, compassionate people out there. Thanks again! Note for any senior managers who may be reading this: The store was nearly empty at this time (I may even have been the only customer there), so the help I received did not affect these employees' normal duties in any way.

I've always taken a photo of my coupons and had the cashiers scan them when going to the store. The…read moreinitial woman who helped us was very kind, however the manager Phil, made us aware that they 'typically don't' let people use them like that but asked to see the coupons and then said no. Why ask to see them? We told him already exactly what they were. I have never had any one say we couldn't, as we are frequent shoppers. We were going to spend well over $150, but left all of our items there. If this is a new policy the manager should have said "unfortunately the new policy is...blah blah blah" but that's not what happened. We will go to Milford from here on where they don't have managers who want to see frequent customers walk out unhappy, without purchasing anything.

We shopped around at a couple of places to figure out what we liked, but neither of them really provided much in the way of customer service or worked very hard to earn our business. The last place we visited was Bedding Barn (North Haven), and although Richard was a initially a little gruff with the sales pitch (that was fine with us, we're fine with getting to the point), his attention to us and customer service were top notch. He faithfully did a price match, saving us a couple hundred on the mattress we selected, and provided us with great information about what we asked for, without trying to "oversell" every sheet, comforter and pillowcase. He was so confident about our selection and experience in the store, he had all the paperwork ready for us when we returned later in the afternoon. Even the delivery service was flawless. Our mattress was delivered within 2 days, they called when they said they would call, and showed up when they said they would. One last kudo - the delivery guys helped us to figured out that we had been charged for a mattress set when we only needed the mattress (misunderstanding with the price match). Bedding Barn took care of refunding the difference with no hassle at all. I still recommend shopping around to find the best mattress for your needs, but do yourself a favor and check out Bedding Barn before you purchase!
