I spent over $1,000.00 on pots and pans in the past couple of years to build a collection (that is not completed). This soup pot cost $250.00. The rim was defective so I brought it back to the store. The owner, an older Indian man told me they no longer carry that line because there was a total recall for that product so he had to send it all back. He also advised me that I should not use my pots and pans because of the recall. So I asked him where does that leave me. He told me that there was nothing he could do for me and I was out of luck. I asked him if he can resend all of my pots and pans back that I purchased from him and maybe he could get my money back too. He told me no. He then became Extremely dismissive towards me and would not continue to speak with with me to try and resolve my issue of being out over $1000. The older Indian man (the owner) walked away from me and dismissed me. I then asked to speak to the manager, and the manager, gave me back to the owner. It wasn't until I became loud and demanded a contact person for the company of my pots and pans. (Swiss Diamond Cookware). The owner gave me an old brochure with the number on it. I contacted customer service told them my problem and they did not hesitate to send me a new pot. Swiss diamond cookware customer service also told me that they have sales going on the year round as well as coupon year round and I could buy directly from their company with free shipment. Customer service also told me that there is not a recall on their products that cooks nook just does not carry their products any longer. I can guarantee you the way I was treated and misled. I will never give that company. Cooks nook another penny of my money. read more

Wow. This place has everything for cooking and it is orderly and brightly lit. I've been to a lot of cooking/kitchen supply places and often they are an adventure to navigate to find what you need. Also, some are more commercial kitchen or restaurant supply-oriented. Cook's Nook is clean, well-lit, and well-organized, and it has a broad selection of quality cooking tools scaled for HOME COOKING and even the odd specialty implements you would never find at a big box retailer. Simply the best cooking store around. I like to shop locally and this place makes it easy. I consistently find everything I need and the customer service is with the kindest, insightful help. They have huge inventory and a well rounded selection. I've been going here since they were on Connecticut Avenue. The staff has mentored both my kids when they worked on all of their cooking projects. Now that they are out on her own this is my go to place to get them everything for the new apartments. I've been able to find beautiful table cloths, oven mitts, dishes, pot scrubbers, colanders, Knives, Le Creuset, serving utensils, Nespresso pods, dish racks, kitchen appliances.... I went there for the first time today, looking for a specific item which they carry. They are super friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. I try to avoid buying Chinese manufactured goods, and this store has an extensive selection of top quality products, at very competitive prices, from many manufacturers in Europe and USA. I checked Amazon, Williams Sonoma, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Sur La Table, and this store is in line or less on price, plus it's so fun to browse around and see what else I need. They had everything I wanted and more. When I got home, my husband was very impressed with what I got and he wants to go too and even bring our culinary friends. I can't wait to stop in again. If you cook or bake and like excellent tools, this fabulous kitchen equipment store is for you. A couple of weeks ago I went into the Norwalk Cook's Nook looking for "The Chef's Secret Weapon", an 11 and 7/8ths inch carbon steel skillet. Lisa McManus had described the delights of this steel skillet, that is "so nonstick that fried eggs slip around in the pan", in the September & October 2015 issue of Cook's Illustrated magazine. After reading the article, I was convinced that I needed this amazing skillet. I charged up to the store and asked the knowledgeable owner if he had the Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan. I sort of expected a blank look, but the owner's eyes lit up as he acknowledged that regretfully he hadn't got that item, but did know about it. He immediately got on the phone and called the U.S. Headquarters location to see if he could get one. Oof! Sorry, not available to independent stores until the end of the first quarter of 2016! I left a little deflated and disappointed, but consoled at the lengths the owner had gone to get one. How'd he know the phone number of the Van Nuys, California Mafter Bourgeat Headquarters for the Americas anyway? Impressive! Wouldn't you know it but my wife needed a turkey baster for our bird today. She's very organized and is rarely caught short on cooking needs. But she'd forgotten that she had chucked her old baster after last year's Thanksgiving. 'Dear', she said, 'would you mind geting one for me?" Are kidding me? I leap at chances to get stuff for the kitchen, whether ingredients or equipment, especially if it'll please my stymied wife. After a quick check on the internet for store hours, I called the store. Sure enough, the owner answered. And it was still before store hours! "Yes", he said, "we're open until mid-afternoon". Now my eyes lit up, as I headed for the car. I was mildly surprised to see the owner when I walked in. He immediately said "I got in a few of the pans you were looking for two weeks ago!", as he led me into the store's depths to the area where he has skillets and high-end enamel cookware. Yippee! Sure enough, I found the exact one I had been looking for and snatched it up so fast the breeze of my reach fluttered the nearby papers. So here're the positives: the owner recognized me, had the pan in the size I wanted (as well as several other sizes), and the price was only slightly more than the one described in the Cook's Illustrated article, and substantially less (by hundreds) than anything I could find on the internet. Not even my mother-in-law could get the smile off my face today! Mission accomplished: I got the baster and my fry pan. Happiness!! read more

This unassuming store has everything upon everything. Name a cookie cutter shape, and they have it. An amazing array of every day cookware to hard to find items. They carry Oxo brand through the very high end. Price wise it is not the best deal, especially since many items can be purchased for less elsewhere but this is a family run business and you will get lots of personal attention. I was in Norwalk for a weekend and I went for a walk (yes, I was the only one strolling through suburbia) and stumbled upon this GEM of a store. The labyrinthine boutique is filled to the brim with the best cookware out there, well selected and beautifully organized. I have a weak spot for beautiful bakeware and cookware and I've had the good fortune of shopping for my kitchen all over the world and this is one of the best places I've ever set foot it. They have the selection and quality of the finest stores in Paris but with lots of ingenious gadgets added it and very lovely people running the place. My shopping expedition was thwarted slightly by my lack of a car (I got here by train from New York) but I would go out of my way to come back to this lovely little establishment. If you want wide aisles and the cheapest things out there, you should stick with bed bath and beyond but if you want excellent quality at great prices and to be helped by knowledgable and lovely people, stop in!! read more
