5 STARS!!! A friend and I stopped in Bell's Mansion for drinks and appetizers the weekend of 11/21/2020. Walking into this beautiful old mansion is like stepping back in time (at least a century plus). The interior of the mansion is all well kept dark wood. The mansion has beautiful antiques like an old typewriter, an old 78 record player and an OLD radio and with knobs! The mansion had outdoor seating with a bar covered by plastic tenting. The hostess informed us to scan a menu. We were then escorted to a table. Drinks, we ordered Yuengling and a French Martini. The server brought the drinks along with some bread. The French Martini was divine!!! Next, we had 2 Super Wonderful Appetizers: Potato and cheese Pierogies and a Satay Trio which included shrimp, steak and chicken. The flavorings in the appetizers were excellent. The appetizers were so filling that we weren't even hungry for an entrée. We were about to ask for the check when our server brought around shots of Nalewka Babuni- a honey dessert fruit wine. We totally loved the flavor of this honey flavored wine I definitely recommend this place for great customer service, drinks, food, parking and unique atmosphere! read more

Bells Mansion is a hidden gem! Fantastic food, service and an amazing atmosphere. Excellent menu choices including GF and Vegan. Perfectly prepared cocktails from a very nice list. The Calamari was outstanding! Very fresh with the perfect homemade seasoning. No red sauce given or needed. The beef Wellington was perfectly prepared with a fluffy crust and mouth watering grilled asparagus. The chicken Joshua was tender and very tasty. Nice large portions. The fresh baked bread on premises daily was OUTSTANDING! Great flavor with a nice crust. Desert menu was just as good with a nice variety. The Banana Flauta was delicious. Enough to share. Very reasonably priced with sterling service provided by our server "Jennifer'. The is one historic restaurant not to be missed. Covid protocols in place including a QR menu. We ate at, not dined at Bell's Mansion last night. First time there and definitely last time too. We drove an hour to get there. I have been looking for a beef wellington on a menu outside of NYC and AC. Well let me tell you. This place was a total letdown. Had the pierogis for an appetizer and calamari. The calamari were ok, the pierogis were literally tasteless. I didn't eat but 2 of the 6. Server said should I wrap them to go? I said no thanks they were tasteless. My wife buys Mrs.T'S at shoprite and they are much better. I tried adding salt which I never ever do to anything, still sucked. My wife ordered the Pappardelle pasta with shrimp and lobster. This dish was really bad. Wife sent it back. Server took it off check. I had the beef wellington which is why we drove an hour to have.. omg, this was probably the worst filet mignon I have ever had.. not even close to a beef wellington. the asparagus under the beef was not cooked it was hard to bite into.. Very sad and a waste of money.. this is a real review from a real person who ate there. The wine list is very reasonably priced, but that's where it ends. Never going back. I had a date with a lovely lady and decided to take her to Bells Mansion because they had an established outdoor dining area. I have to say I was blown away with why lower patio. We sat by the fireplace with Dragon Lilly's next to our table. Hummingbirds we're visiting while we sat and had a wonderful and romantic experience. The staff were polite efficient and so obliging. I asked about the need to turn the table over and Mya, the waitress said there was no concern how long we stayed. We had a couple drinks from their delightful bar menu, I have to say the watermelon sangria was outstanding. They bring bread to the table and the chef should be proud because it is a major achievement!!! Light fluffy tasty and the perfect crispy crust. You have to try their pierogi appetizer!!! They were great and it was obvious the bread master knows how to make scratch dough. If you like sour cream with pierogis ask for more on the side thought the do a plate smear thing to make it a bit decorative as there is not enough to go with the generous pierogi dish. My lady friend had the cedar plank salmon and I did get a taste it was made to perfection served with a sweet potato mash and fresh sautéed zucchini. I enjoyed a delicious red snapper with a weird but delicious strawberry sauce and coconut rice. This is a cool spot. The building is 100 years old. The food is generally okay. They make homemade bread daily which is kinda their thing. Music on the weekends outside on the patio. Bring your date there... improve your chances of getting lucky. read more

Very noisy inside and out. Actually had to remove my hearing aids at our inside table. I used to love the food but now find it hit or miss. Apple guacamole last night was a miss. Usually very good. I had rack of lamb. Very Very fatty. Tasted old. Tiny portion. A waste. Slow service. My dinner companions similarly felt their food was only fair. One had duck breast, featured on the menu. It was drowning in what looked like a congealed gravy. She asked for French fries rather than roasted potatoes. Did not even finish her request before the waitress snapped " we don't do substuitions." Itcwas suggested we order them as a side dish, so we did. The third in our party had the Maryland crab cakes. Said they were OK. Served on a dry mix of white rice and peas and carrots, likely a frozen mix. The only other time we had been unhappy with Bells was also on a Sunday. Maybe the chefs are second strong. If so, they would be better off closing v that day. read more

Okay let me start off that this review is not about the front staff it is about the food and the ones who make it. If you enjoy a place that has very little seasoning to their dishes then this place is for you. If you think a satay is not to be served on a skewer like traditionally then this place is for you. If you like a very gummy steak that is served warm then this place is for you. I was very disappointed in my food. The only thing I enjoyed was fried chicken wings but even those lacked flavor. I don't know who is cooking back there but I was begging for something to have flavor or seasoning. I came here for my birthday and even though I was treated I am still sad that someone had to pay for the lack of quality we received. My waitress was lovely but everything else was a let down. This place prides itself on its historical back ground but can't provide in person menus to its senior patrons either?! That is crazy to me. Even my drink, lemonade was lacking flavor and watered down. This is only a good restaurant for people who think black pepper is spicy. So disappointed will not be going here again nor recommending it to anyone. read more

A truly exceptional meal and Mother's Day celebration! We have been here before and knew it was the perfect place to celebrate and enjoy. Our waitress Katie was so kind, funny and personable. From the moment we walked in it was an amazing vibe. The martini menu is out of this world. We had the Bells Cosmo and X-rated. . I highly recommend the Ossobuco. There are amazing options but this is too delicious not to get. We got the clams and chorizo, pierogis and shrimp toast for appetizers. However, our "rack" of ribs was merely two bites of lamb. typically a "rack" is 8 ribs which is technically half of a full rack. the "Rack" of ribs served here was expensive, tasted good, but was only 4 ribs. In my opinion that's false advertising and should be adjusted to properly reflect the minimized quantity of food in the meal title. all in all the place is great but calling that dish a "rack" is misleading and unnecessary read more

Overpriced, food was lackluster. Paid $17 for only 5 coconut shrimp in the appetizer, we were in shock and disappointed to say the least. Then for the entree... "Jumbo Lump Crabcake $36" There were 2 small cakes, barely any crab because it is heavily mixed with breadcrumbs!!!!! I had more chunks of breadcrumbs than crab. We waited an hour and a half for our meal, the waitress did not come back to follow up and we had to search for her to get our check so we could leave. We can't seem to win when going out for our anniversary. Bell's mansion seemed like a safe bet. I discussed ordering the Ossobucco with the waitress but decided against it since she was not sure about garlic in the dish. Both my husband and I hate, an I mean really hate garlic. I changed to the berry red snapper, spouse had the duck. When the overcooked red snapper, without berries, arrived; underneath it were green beans with raw garlic. We picked the beans out of both dishes but the garlic was inculcated into the rest of the dish. The waitress offered too replace the beans with another vegetable, we declined. Who wants to sit around for a side dish of vegtables. My husband ordered the duck. It was good. The service was fine, the waitress very nice. We were offered an after dinner, Polish cordial, it was spicy and quite good. We keep running into this garlic issue. It would be nice if restaurant would serve the garlic laden sides on a separate dish. Overall the restaurant is better than last years bummer restaurant Farmers Daughter in Newton. read more

Patio: 5 stars; Food and Service: 2 stars Came here last week for the first time in several years. The patio is gorgeous-- tons of shrubbery, large umbrellas, and a nice bar. We enjoyed the setting. Our server was very nice, but the service was some of the slowest I have ever experienced anywhere, despite the fact we went at an off-peak time and it was not crowded. It took almost 45 minutes to get our salads. We all ordered different salads-- each of which was "missing something". All of the salads could have used a few more fix-ins (nuts, cheese, fruit, a different veggie, etc.), as they were all very boring and on the bland side. The pierogies were also incredibly bland-- much prefer those from the frozen food aisle at the grocery store. Would come back for the patio/drinks, but never for the food or service. read more

My family came for Mother's Day brunch hoping that we would be experiencing "fine dining". Unfortunately, the experience was far from that. We had a reservation and still ended up waiting 15-20 minutes before being seated. We dined for close to 2 and a half hours which was quite the while (not to mention we were dining in the afternoon far past the morning brunch rush). There were long gaps in between when food was served and hospitality was sub par. The food was nothing spectacular. The Chicken Franchaise was bland, and dessert was a little sad. We've lived in the area for 6 years but never knew about this comfortably old-school restaurant. A few friends had recommended it so recently we went on a Thursday evening for dinner and a few drinks. Drinks were generous, staff was friendly and accommodating, the bread was fantastic, and the meals were very good. While it wasn't crowded when we arrived, it was bustling by 6:30,:so reservations would be recommended. Definitely worth a few repeat visits. read more

I waited a couple of minutes and it appeared as if they were merely talking to their friend. I went around them to let the young hostess know we had a reservation.
