I am leaving this review for anyone thinking about working for this company. Mike and Casey are the most arrogant and disrespectful pricks you will ever meet. I was honest during the interview process about my experience/knowledge, and they seemed laid back and willing to teach. Instead I got screamed and yelled at during my entire employment. Run! My 2014 Jeep Cherokee was shutting itself down and I couldn't find an available mechanic or Jeep dealer for several weeks so I took a chance and tried here. Big mistake! They tried to get me to buy a new gas tank saying that a value needed to be replaced. Thank God I called a mechanic friend who said this was BS. A few weeks later I finally got into the dealer and found out the issue was a manufacturer problem under investigation to possibly become a recall and the recommendation was to replace the fuel pump, purge valve and canister. read more

Have been taking my vehicles to Bellingers since the early 70's. Hugh and Allan Bellinger were the original owners. Tom, one of the son's is owner now, and he has Mike, Manager, and Casey working on the cars. These two are excellent and honest mechanics. Will not trust anyone else with my car!! I was referred to Bellinger by an associate. My vehicle didn't sound right, almost sounded like a diesel. Stopped by, Casey quickly diagnosed the vehicle as needing a new water pump. They are a small busy shop, couldn't get to my vehicle for three days. Got the estimate via email shortly after my initial visit. I called two other shops, one was about the same amount, the service department at the dealership was about $300 more. Easy to drop off before they opened. Michael the mechanic who replaced the water pump called to let me know the vehicle was ready. The total bill came in ~$40 under the estimate. Friendly shop, felt like I was working with a competent group. My only gripe is about their hours, they close by 2:00 on Friday with no service on Saturday. They are good, I have no hesitation about recommending them. If I'm not back as a customer its because on their hours of operation (perfer Saturday service) and location, its a bit of stretch for me from the house and work. read more

4 star review because..... I've only had service here once and it was good enough to return. I imagine if the service is anything like last time, I'll be very happy and then we'll bump it up to a 5 star. Today's service- I brought my car in a week ago and had them look at the rattle in the front end and there was some issues with my shifter. The told me the issue could be my struts and that they lubed up the shifter cable. Charge...nothing. Most places you take a car to, they charge you $80-100 just for pulling it into the garage. Thanks for not charging me. Also, I called yesterday and was able to slip into an open spot for today's repairs of getting the struts replaced. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. read more

I cannot recommend patronage at this shop. After 6 months of getting work done on our Volvo and spending nearly $3,000 in recommended services, we had a fuel injector service done based on their recommendation. The day we took it home it was noticeably sluggish. After a few days the sluggishness on the gas grew worse until the check engine light came on. The code was, Fuel too Lean. We brought it back to Bellinger and after an entire day of our car being at the shop, they would not diagnose it. All they repeated was that fuel injector service had nothing to do with fuel too lean codes, and that they "never make mistakes". A few conversations with other mechanics told us that fuel injector service could most definitely be related to the problem and it would unlikely be a coincidence. After a couple of weeks we decided to email Tom Bellinger directly to see if they would actually diagnose our vehicle, based on a friend who said that Tom would not let this happen in his shop. After carefully drafting an email plea for customer service, at 5 PM today, the only reply I received was 'thank you for your patronage'. It is clear that this shop's only goal is to recommend services that they will fail at, so that you are forced to bring your car in again. Now we are taking our vehicle to a dealership for a complete diagnosis and repair for whatever work Bellinger has done. read more

Great shop close to Capitol are. Checked out some issues with my suspension and brakes. Friendly staff, easy to schedule a time. Great first experience here this week... I prefer to patronize locally owned shops whenever practical. More of my money stays in and supports my community that way. The assessment of my tires was fair and straightforward which lead me getting a new set. Casey asked me about my needs and what i wanted out of the tires and gave me three well thought out options. He was able to answer questions about the pros and cons of each. They were able to order the tires that day and perform the work the next (tires/alignment/and oil change). Prices were very reasonable. Casey was always friendly and never pushy as many service writers can be. A quick check of the quality of the work and attention to detail showed it to be fine. I received a call as promised when the work was completed. I received that call during the window in which I was told the vehicle would be ready. I was very impressed and hope that this visit was the first of many and that I have found my "local auto-repair shop" that will replace the one I used for many years in my old city of residence. read more

I used to speak well of Bellingers, but something has changed over the past few months. It has mostly to do with their scheduling and communications. I have twice attempted to use their website scheduling form. Once, there was no response over four days when they were supposed to have confirmed or not well in advance of the appointment time I selected. I fortunately was able to quickly get the car in to another service who did the work well. Very recently, I tried to use Bellinger's scheduling form again. I provided detailed information about some work needing to be done. I received an email later that day asking what service I would like. I didn't want to repeat what I had provided, so I referred them to the order form. They sent me back offers to provide "recommended services," none of which were what I was asking for. When I took the car in, they still didn't know what service I wanted. Today, I took the car in for an appointment to replace two tires they scheduled for me. When I arrived at 7:30, they first checked to see if the tires had been delivered, and said that they had been. 30 minutes later another employee told me that they didn't have the tires and that I could reschedule for tomorrow. Tomorrow AM is the time I rescheduled today's 8 AM appointment so that I could get the tires. Additionally, I always take my own synthetic oil in for oil changes since I save some dollars on some spendy product by doing so. They routinely would return the approximate 1/2 quart that remained in the container which I would eventually use for oil replacement as needed. Then, one day about three months ago, I was leaving after some maintenance, and the container was not in my car as usual. I went in and asked about it, and to my surprise, they rolled their eyes and said they would give me a 1/2 qt of oil to make up for it. It was strange to be treated that way when I asked about something they themselves had always done. To their credit, this past Friday when I had the oil changed in another car I recently bought, they did return the unused oil as had been routine in the past. Their mechanical work is good. But I don't know that I can afford to keep reserving times for appointments they are not prepared for. I have recently found other good mechanical service that is further away, but at least they have been ready to provide the scheduled services. read more

First time in Casey cleared some trouble codes for me free of charge. Boom - customer for life right there. The dealerships will charge you $100 to clear a Check Engine Light when the only problem is a loose gas cap. These guys at Bellinger are one in a million. When we moved to Salem from Portland we were afraid we would be driving back to Portland to have our 2004 Volvo V70 serviced. Boy were we wrong. The guys at Bellinger fixed some issues caused by my favorite shop up in Portland (I had new end links put on in Portland but the guys in Portland forgot to tighten them.) Casey has done quite a bit of preventative maintenance for us and we've been 100% satisfied. Everything has been fair, quick and straightforward. Decent, honest, trustworthy mechanics can be hard to find. We're lucky to have Casey and Travis here in Salem. I'm happy to give them my money -- they deserve it. I won't take my car anywhere else now. read more
