They took it for a test drive. You could almost push the brake all the way down before it would stop and it didn't stop very well. We were expecting the worst but after about half an hour they put the tires back on and came in to talk to us. They said that they adjusted something on the brake and now it was so much easier to stop and also it would give us a lot more time before he had to spend money on new brakes. What was the charge, I asked? No charge they said. We walked out of there like we were walking on clouds. What could've been several hundred dollars ended up costing us nothing. A mechanic friend of mine recommended Hillyer's, It took a few weeks to get in, but they quickly and correctly diagnosed the issue (failing wheel bearing and bent steering knuckle). The knuckle had to be ordered so it did take a few more weeks to get the repair done, but when all was said and done they fixed the issue at a reasonable price, no more sticky steering, vibrating, and clunking. They also subtracted the $75 diagnostic fee from my final bill, which was appreciated. I would definitely recommend Hillyer's, and they will be my go to with any future suspension, alignment, or wheel issues.

Everything went well except for the part about the drive shaft bolt retorquing. There's a bolt on the drive shaft of AWD Carmy's that Toyota requires retorquing every 10,000 or 15,000 miles / 12-18 months (depending on driving conditions). Toyota service centers do the retorquing every service they do. But when I talked to the service rep at this location, he didn't know anything about it. My point is that you'll probably be happy here if you just want basic car service. But if you want to make sure you get manufacturer-specific things done for your car, take it to the dealership.
