Zero stars. I scheduled my day around movers arriving between 8 and 9 AM. No one showed and I was never contacted at any time as to their whereabouts. I tried to call customer assistance (a number I was not provided in my confirmation email but had to find online) and received an AI virtual assistant who sent me directly to voicemail. I sent multiple emails and not until two hours after the agreed upon pickup time was I contacted by a human being who told me that be had sent a "replacement team" who would be here in ANOTHER hour. This operation is an understaffed, unreliable farce. Beware. read more

DO NOT USE. (For reference, this was in LA - it seems that it's maybe better elsewhere where they actually have a general manager. I don't normally leave bad reviews but this deserves it). The day before my move, 2 of the 4 movers I hired cancelled because of "injuries." I was not offered any replacements and was told by the service center that I should just reschedule my move. Day of, we were running late so one of our movers decided to simply leave. That left us with one mover, Leroy - who was AMAZING. Leroy did a fantastic job, he was so helpful and efficient. However, that doesn't excuse from the fact that Bellhop left me with 1 out of 4 movers on the day of a big move where we had scheduled a different team to meet us on the other end (150 miles away). Because of the Bellhop team's incompetence, our move on the front end was an absolute nightmare and we were delayed in our move, screwing up the back end. This company charged my credit card for a move that I cancelled and that they never performed. After multiple phone calls and emails and reassurance that I would "receive a refund in several days," my credit card was charged without my permission for a third time. Never, ever trust your money with this company as they are unbelievably disorganized, unprofessional and will continue to steal from you as long as they have your information. read more

STAY AWAY is my advice. I've moved 15+ times in the last 15 years and 6 times since Covid started, and this move was by far the absolute worst. San Francisco to LA. Items already packed and in storage. SF-side loading was seamless. LA-side is when all the bad surprises started. I had confirmed several times with the sales person my requirements, including furniture assembly (and agreed to waive liability), unboxing of packed furniture items (not packed "stuff" boxes), and getting rid of all packaging. Day of move-in, first the team is mostly late; then I start hearing "we don't do that" about every single request. The team didn't even have basic items like cutters or assembly tools (thankfully I had inventories my boxes to quickly find my tools). After a lot of back and forth and mostly non-responsiveness of headquarters, thankfully the team on the ground wanted to help and got some of the stuff done, and then I had to patch the gaps last minute with other service apps, leaving me at the end of the day with much more stress, larger expenses than planned, and exhaustion than any other move for one that was relatively simple to start. My beds assembly was not well done (and they had thrown out a set of screws that they complained was missing, only to be found later by the diligent junk removal team from another company), we couldn't find my TV which they had thrown with art pieces and claimed they didn't unpack, only for me to find out weeks later that it was there after I'd purchased a replacement (and the original TV was broken). Learned that the service quality in LA fell abruptly as they don't have a local GM and instead it's managed by someone in a faraway state who has no idea what's on the ground. The final payment charged showed a lower amount than what was on the original bill so I appreciate what I assumed was goodwill and let it go. TWO MONTHS later, after I already filed my relocation expenses and having gotten a "Final" bill immediately after the move, I get an email informing me that they charged an extra $900 to my card without even my approval or heads up. I responded, giving them 48 hours to respond back before I escalate -- no response. A week later I disputed the charge with my card provider and 10 days later I decided it's time I share this experience publicly. Save yourself all the stress and pay a tiny bit more for real professional moving services. read more

I moved into Manhattan Beach- I highly recommend requesting Laphair, Francis, Sergio, James! They were so strong, on time, fast, respectful and friendly and professional. They had to be a bit clever and smart to figure out the upright piano up a narrow long flight of stairs outside. I'm giving 5 stars for the movers themselves. My only complaint is that the Bellhop Company didn't communicate to the movers there was a piano. They should have done that so they could bring the proper dolly and equipment to move a piano. I've moved a lot; something like 12-13 times mostly in nyc. This is by far the worst experience I've had with movers. I am a seasoned mover; I put everything in boxes/bags/suitcases and am ready to rock and roll when movers arrive. I only expect them to wrap my furniture, which there is not a lot of, and disassemble/reassemble one bed frame which I will admit is not the easiest but they're "professionals" right? Wrong! They did arrive right on time which is a first for me with movers. Except short one mover which I was not alerted til after the entire move was completed; and then in the follow up customer service email one of the other movers apparently left 4 hours early! I had hired 5 movers to move my 2bd about half a mile and thought 3 hours would be adequate given my previous moving experience. So I really only had 3 movers. It took them nearly 7 hours to complete my move and they did not even reassemble either bed frame I had. They broke an expensive west elm flower pot, solid wood/metal side table, the solid teak bed frame they didn't reassemble was very scratched with tons kept missing bolts/pieces needed to reassemble, and the headboard which is cloth was extremely dirty. I had to repeatedly tell them to be gentle with boxes labeled very clearly "fragile". They ended up charging me double what my estimate was, and after complaining about everything i mentioned above they gave me a "discount" that was still above the maximum agreed payment in the contract. I was charged the 5 mover hourly rate despite only really having 3 for the majority of the move. I am beyond disappointed. I've done a move like this many times with 3 movers in nyc and had it done in 3 to 3.5 hours. In walk ups. The team lead was lovely; I think his name was Saul. But he seemed to be trying to herd cats with the people working for him. No one seemed to have initiative or organization skills and when he was busy trying to disassemble the bed the other movers were largely absent and needed tons of direction. They arrived to the new apt around 1pm after they arriving at 8:00am to the first place. I expected to be totally done with my move at that point. They were not done moving things in until 3/330 with most of the wrap still on my furniture and my bed frame I usually sleep in not reassembled. Based on my experience I would not recommend them at all. Customer service was "responsive" but trying to charge me $1400 (before their $400 "discount" for this absolutely substandard "professional" service is highway robbery. They used the 5 man hour rate for the hours they billed for working too. I just can't. I always have low expectations with movers hence my over preparation with packing but they somehow lowered the bar even more. They did make a lot of pricing "adjustments" during the process after which was still about 80-90 bucks above the estimated amount. Oh well. It's over... read more

BAIT-AND-SWITCH TACTICS, MOVER BEWARE! Moving my mom In St. Louis, MO: Quoted me via email at $200/hr for the job over a month in advance. The day before the move I received a call from a company that is not Bellhop but told me that they "picked up the contract through Bellhop". The next day the movers worked out well but then charged me $1150 on a $750 quote, a quote that Bellhop had provided. Instead of $200/hr, they charged $250, plus extra fees for the truck rental, all of which I was made aware of AFTER the move completed; I had no reason to think that the estimate had changed. Single bedroom, in city move, 3.5 hours and 3 people with a truck rental. I just did a similar move in Sacramento but with a 2 bedroom and it cost me less than that. Bellhop is saying that they have no record of the transaction and that it isn't their responsibility. I still have the voicemail of the movers saying "Hi, this is (moving company name), we picked up your contract through Bellhop..." Check some other reviews, their backend systems (CRM) don't talk to each other (so they can claim there's no accurate record of your transaction) and their customer service is an insult to paying customers. I'd give no stars if it was an option. read more

Bellhops is a company that employs college students to assist people with their move. When you hire bellhops you are only hiring physical help. You will have to get your own truck and moving supplies. In any case, the price you pay for Bellhops is great because there is no minimum number of hours or movers that you have to book, which is usually the case when you go with other professional moving companies. So if you are trying to arrange a cheap move, Bellhops is the company to go with. I hired 2 bellhops for a one bedroom move. My bellhops were nice and they arrived on time. The only downfall of hiring a Bellhop is that you arent hiring professional movers which means that it may take them a little longer to move because they arent experts in packing the truck or getting that extra long bed through a small hallway. However, they follow instructions very well and move pretty fast. read more

This was the first time that I have ever hired a moving company, and with a recommendation to try Bellhop, I figured I would give them a shot. I recently had a surgery that made me largely unable to do the move on my own, and so I was trusting them to do the job for me - I am happy to say that I was not disappointed! I set up a move to begin at 1pm; at 12:58pm I received a text from the team lead, Jason, letting me know that his team had arrived on site and was ready to begin. I personally love when a company has good communication, so this was a good sign. Jason was joined by Delvontae and Commaree; the three of them got right to work after I gave them an overview of what items I would need them to move. Everything was padded, wrapped, and moved to the truck quickly and with care. They were friendly and helpful through the entire packing process. When we arrived at my new home, they set everything in the new place even faster than when we packed up. Not only did they put everything where I asked them to, but they were great about helping to rebuild the bed and the couch, and even set somethings up for me without being asked. I had the most horrific experience with this company. I booked with someone over the phone named Lillian. I told her I had a 16 ft Pods storage container being delivered on June 21st and being picked up the next day, so my whole house and all of it's furniture needed to be moved into the unit that evening. She booked 3 movers for 5PM, took my credit card information and even texted me a booking confirmation. Well... NO MOVERS SHOWED UP! I called Bellhop to see what was going on and where the movers were (PS: you have to leave a voicemail and hope that a representative will call you back). When someone did call me back, they had to transfer me to another department... And then the new department had to transfer me back to the 1st department. It was a never-ending game, and no one had answers! They said they didn't see any booking on their end. Like, what?! Such an unorganized company that ended up costing me 3 times the price to find movers last minute. STAY AWAY FROM BELLHOP! A huge disappointment. read more

I used Bellhops service recently to move furniture inside my home to prepare for remodeling work that was scheduled. The original move went well, the bellhops who arrived were fast, courteous, and efficient, and nothing was damaged. At the time I scheduled the service, I informed the staff that I would need to have the bellhops return after the work on the house had been completed, and that ideally I wanted to have the same men back as there was an antique bed that had to be reassembled in a particular way and they were familiar with it. I called the office on a Monday, spoke to Richard, and scheduled the return move on Wednesday of the same week. I repeated the request for the same movers, and Richard said he did not foresee a problem. I received a call at 6pm on TUESDAY evening, the night before the move was scheduled, ( and confirmed by email ), and was informed that the requested movers were not available. I asked if at least one of them was available for continuity purposes, and agreed that the second man could be a substitute. The appointment originally scheduled for 9am was thus rescheduled for 4pm of the same day, and again, I received an email confirmation. I received a phone call at 3pm, ONE HOUR BEFORE THE SCHEDULED MOVE, and was told that Bellhops had no one available to help me. This, after I totally rearranged my schedule for the day to accommodate the company. In my opinion this is a company who is not ready to provide the service they describe on an efficient basis. They expect their clients to work around their schedule, and then they do not even show up when they confirm a time slot. I suggest that if you are in need of this kind of service that you shop around for a company who responds in a more professional and reliable manner. read more

I just needed help with big furnitures (bed/desk/couch etc.) and purchased a groupon for two movers for an hour from Bellhops. They were awesome with great attitude. I have moved couple times previously, and used different moving companies. Some movers I had definitely had a shittiest attitude ever with a higher price. My experience with Bellhops was different. The "captain" Luis and "Wingman" Sergio both really knew what they were doing. They didn't damage any of the furnitures/boxes I had. I never write reviews, but I felt compelled to let everyone know what a great experience I had with Bellhops. I did a lot of research before I chose our moving help. Bellhops movers are back round checked and insured. After booking my move, I received a prompt email confirming my move details. The day before my move I received another email with pictures and details about the movers. Luis called the day before my move to check in and verify details. Luis and Alec were an awesome team.
