Bellhop was able to accommodate my request for a moving helper to help load and unload a truck I also had to rent last minute. Patrick B was a great guy, quick, efficient and punctual. Normally they request 24 hours advance notice, but I called at 10:00pm last night and I was able to get someone at 9:00am this morning. Although not required, I made sure to give the guy a 20.00 tip, he earned it! If I need help again you will be the first place I turn to. Good guys, didn't mark up my walls and my stairwell is tight. Keep in mind not professional movers so your truck/pod/whatever may not be packed in exactly the best way to maximize space. They worked the whole time in super hot/humid conditions. I felt it was a great value for what I paid. I would use again for any kind of moving/lifting labor. read more

I used Bellhops for my move from one second-floor apartment to another just down the street. I hired two Bellhops to come help us with the heaviest lifting and I was pleasantly surprised by their service! They were on time and moved two beds, four dressers (including one very, very heavy 6-foot oak dresser), tables and chairs, and some other heavier items for us without a single complaint, even when the snow started falling. This was a great move! The only reason I am giving four stars is because some of the hardware to my furniture that I have to put together is missing. I specifically asked that it be wrapped onto the piece, but I think it just got lost in all of the hustle and bustle. All of the guys on the team were great! This was my worst moving experience by far. I booked a team of two with Bellhops 3 days before my scheduled move. One day later, I received an email confirming my appointment and scheduled time: Saturday at 5PM. Great! Now I can make my 24-hour, cross-country drive with peace of mind that when I arrive, I will have help moving my things into my new apartment. I arrived at my destination a couple of hours early (3PM) and gave Bellhops a call to inquire about whether they could come earlier than scheduled (5PM). I spoke with a young gentleman who reviewed my appointment and politely informed me that they could not come sooner than 5PM. Okay, no problem. I wait until 5PM - no one has arrived. Perhaps they're running late? 5:30PM - still nothing. I start to wonder if maybe they got backed up with other movers. No problem, that's understandable. But, no call to let me know? 6PM - no one has called nor arrived. I finally call the Bellhops line and ask about my appointment. The young gentleman informs me that he "doesn't know why my movers never showed up", apologizes, and says that he'll speak with his Operations Manager and call me back in 30 minutes to an hour. Now, by this point, I'm frustrated. The young gentleman (Chris) could not offer any logical reason for why my movers did not show up. Fine, maybe that team of two just didn't get the memo? These things happen. I'll just wait for the call back. 7:15PM - no one has called me back! Not only was my scheduled appointment disregarded, but once I have made the company aware of the mistake, I was forgotten again. Extremely poor customer service. I call the Bellhops line back and speak with Chris again. He apologizes and tells me he "forgot to call back, totally my bad". WTF. Chris is supposed to be finding my movers and updating me on the status of said movers. "My bad" doesn't exactly convey that. Continuing with the excellent customer service... So Chris now asks me if he can reschedule my move to the following day. Unbelievable. I just finished a 24-hour drive, I'm trying to move into my new apartment and now I'm being asked to wait another day when it was the fault of the company. I informed Chris of my situation and the need to get the trailer unloaded ASAP (the UHaul trailer was due back first thing in the morning, pending an additional charge; not to mention my whole life is packed away in the trailer behind a Queen size mattress that I couldn't move by myself). Chris says he will do his best to find a couple guys to come by that night, and if not, at 8AM the next morning. He then offers to call me back that night regardless of whether or not he was able to find movers, as a courtesy, to let me know when to expect a team to arrive. I say "that would be great, thanks" and we hang up the phone. Can you guess? No one came that night AND no one called me back that night! Making claims to your customer and then consistently failing to come through summarizes my entire experience with Bellhops. And in case you're wondering - no one ever showed up at 8AM the next morning. In fact, no one ever showed up at all that next day. I finally received a call from Bellhops (around 3PM) - and keep in mind, this was the FIRST call I had ever received from them throughout this mess - from a young worker who told me they would be at my apartment in the next hour or so. Really? I told them their services were no longer needed (I had paid the neighbor's son some bills to help me move my things into the apartment). When I told the young worker this, there came the infamous "my bad". Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Complete disregard for scheduled appointments, total lack of interest in making things right and correcting mistakes. I will be sure to never use nor recommend Bellhops again. read more

Our bellhops, Jarreck, Damon, and Jarron, were very kind, professional, and kept a great attitude despite the rain and extended time. They successfully moved our 4 piece sectional, 200-300 lb solid wood dining room table, solid wood bed set, in addition to many many boxes and other furniture. I will preface this review with the fact that we were moving in and out of small city row homes, which I know are not the easiest to maneuver even small furniture into, but our bad moving experience went beyond the limitations of door widths. The bellhops were courteous and hardworking, which is why this is a two star and not a one star rating. First of all, the truck was almost 2 and a half hours late! Which in my opinion is unacceptable. This is a business where we pay for promptness. Moving is set to a schedule-people need to be in and out of places at certain times. When asked if 'that was ok?' the only response we could give was that it was our only option as we had to be out of our house that day. What else can you say to that?! We had conflicting reports as to why they were late from the drivers and the people back in the office, so who knows what actually happened. There was no talk from the schedulers as to how they would remedy the situation other than that they would tell the movers they had to be there at 3:30 (already 1.5 hours after they were supposed to show up). One of the 2 bellhops we had coming showed up right around 3:30, but could not do much of anything as the moving van still did not arrive for over another half an hour. Once it finally got here, everything was going pretty smoothly, until they tried to get the sofa into the new house. One of the movers was definitely not used to all the heavy lifting and was having trouble lifting it in order to get it in a very tight doorway (albeit with a railing thrown in there too...because nothing is easy in the city). In the process two holes were torn into my sofa. I will not recommend this company to anyone looking for movers. Not because of the movers, they were worth the amount paid. What I am most disappointed about is the way the office/schedulers handled our situation. We were charged for the extra half an hour the one bellhop stood around waiting for the moving truck and were not helpful in finding a solution to get a truck to us ASAP. They basically gave a response that said there was nothing they could do and we would just have to wait. In an industry where promptness is part of what you pay for, I find that attitude unacceptable. When asked what they were going to do to compensate us for having to wait over 2 hours, they basically said they could do nothing. We have to go through a claims process on the holes in the couch, so time will tell if that ever gets resolved and how. read more

After reading several reviews on Yelp I thought Bellhops would be perfect to move our furniture. Yesterday when only ONE of the gentlemen arrived did I learned Bellhops is NOT a full service moving company. When the one young man arrived I noticed he didn't have a truck. His counterpart never showed up. The young man who did show up was very polite and he attempted to call Bellhops to inquire about a truck. I was informed AT THAT TIME this was a labor only service. I never read that on their website! No one from Bellhops called me to confirm I understood this was a labor only service.The young man left and I decided to cancel the order. Later their customer service department calls me to see if I wanted to reschedule so I opted to cancel. I was then informed I would still have to pay for the gentleman who actually showed up. I asked to speak to manager, his name is Nathan. Nathan informed me the young man still needed to be paid; however, I indicated there were no services performed and their website did not state this service was labor only in my market (that was his justification, its labor only in my market). He said all customers signed the agreement; however, I requested him to locate the agreement I actually signed. He agreed. I told him I did not authorize him to charge my card. He emailed me a general agreement and NOT THE ONE I SIGNED! He was not honest about sending the agreement I signed and after several emails of me stating, "This is not the agreement I signed. We just spoke and you agreed you would provide the agreement I signed. You're website when I booked did not indicate labor only for a local move it just said local move. Also if this was a labor only job someone should have called to confirm my understanding. Also, the one gentleman who did show up called to arrange for a truck. So it couldn't have been labor only if trucks are available. I DO NOT authorize you to charge my card and I will report this as a fraudulent transaction to my credit card company." HE CHARGED MY CARD for the gentleman who actually showed up and his mileage; however, no services were rendered. I WILL NEVER BOOK or REFER this service to anyone. If you need labor only then maybe it's for you, but I've never heard of a LABOR ONLY moving company. read more
