Avoid these clowns. Their M.O. seems to be to low-ball you on the front end to get you to sign a contract, and then doubling the price once the move is over. Oh, and if you want meaningful insurance, you have to pay for it and it is not included in the original quote. Neither of the guys they sent could speak English, which obviously made communication difficult. They wrapped a Ralph Lauren coffee table with a blanket and tape, and pulled off the finish when they took the tape off and just shrugged when I pointed it out. In the quote, they ask for the size of your storage unit, and then after jacking up the price after the move, they said the storage unit was too small for the amount of stuff in it. It could have easily held twice what was in it. Anyway, they suck. Don't recommend. Avoid with extreme prejudice. read more

I used Bellhop and while i was happy with the movers-except that the original mover called out sick so i had to wait 30 minutes for the back up who was awesome. When I booked, the online estimate was a little under $600 for 3 hours, one truck, 2 pro movers. It ended up costing a little over $1000 vs the $600 that they estimated on their website. One additional hour for the truck would have cost $108 and then for the two movers $61 at $30.50 each. So if anything an additional $169 is understandable. But instead it ended up costing me $917 ($300 more than I expected!!) with a discount from an apartment finder company. Also why am i paying for the truck to idle while the the first mover waited for the back up mover to arrive? he told me he couldn't start moving until the 2nd mover arrived. Like holy cow. I tipped the movers $60 each on top of all that. And not only were they not upfront of their charges (i took 4 hours to move and the rate they estimated is for 3 hours) they overcharged my card and now i am waiting for $175 to get credited back to my card. At this point, I could write a dissertation about how absolutely horrendous Bellhop is, but since I don't have the space, let me give you some bullet points: -The two trucks assigned to us were 1.5 hours and 3.25 hours late respectively on the front end of the move (because they took other jobs to make more money), and an hour late on the back end of the move. -Only one person in the crew of people assigned to our move on the front end (Austin) had any idea what they were doing. The other people were college kids who all admitted it was their first or second time doing any moving, and it was clear they'd received NO training. They dropped and broke furniture in front of me without apology. They didn't bother to pad or wrap most of our stuff. And they packed the truck with no care or thought whatsoever (example: a heavy guitar amp was placed on my keyboard case despite it saying "Fragile" all over it) -On the back end of our move (Denver), we were supposed to have 6 crew members. Only 2 showed up. After they frantically called as many people as possible, eventually a 3rd person came, and maybe an hour later a 4th person came, but he was so high he might as well have not even been there. -When the trucks were opened at our destination, the crew members were so appalled by how they were packed, they took pictures of all the damage to make sure they wouldn't he held responsible for it. Lest you think they didn't cause any damage of their own, they took the mattress protector off of our mattress and dragged it on the concrete and also dragged a velvet couch on the concrete, causing permanent damage to both. -The main truck driver made incredibly misogynistic "jokes" to me and my partner, including telling me after I took off my jacket to reveal a crop top that, "If I had known you were going to be stripping, I would have brought my ones." -A valuable item was stolen from my partner's backpack, which had been placed aside in the primary bedroom closet. We had to file a police report, and Bellhop had to instigate an internal investigation, which went nowhere. Bellhop also refused to take any responsibility for the crime their contractor committed. The worst offenders were the customer service people at Bellhop who I dealt with after all of this happened. I spent weeks negotiating with them to get damages paid and a refund, and the most they were willing to pay out amounted to about a 60% total refund (including what they'd pay in damages) for the move. But when they sent over the legal agreement, it contained a non-disparagement clause. In case you were wondering how they have such good reviews, it's because people who they pay damages to are legally barred from saying anything negative about the company. I told them I wouldn't sign the agreement with that clause in it, and they refused to take it out. So I filed a claim with my bank under the Fair Credit Billing Act and eventually won a full refund. Unfortunately, that barely begins to cover the cost of the damages they caused to all of our stuff, but at least I can speak freely about my awful experiences with Bellhop. Do you REALLY want to know? First thing, the people they use are piece-mealed together. None of the crew that moved us had ever worked together before and most of them seemed like they didn't have any true mover experience other than having a pulse and the ability to lift more than 10 pounds. They weren't in-sync with each other and as a result, they damaged a lot of our belongings. They literally damaged items of furniture that were brand new and some of it was very expensive furniture. The crew was so disorganized and did not maximize the space in their truck. They ran out of room in their truck and told us that they weren't going to have time to make a 2nd trip to come get the rest of our things that they couldn't fit because they had another move after ours and they couldn't delay the next customers. This is when I tried to get ahold of someone from their customer service, which was nearly impossible to get through to anyone. After having to call several times and waiting on hold for up to an hour, I was finally able to speak to a representative who never seemed like they had the answers and had to consult with their supervisor. Because of this, they said that they would have to call me back. When they never called back, I had to call them AGAIN and get placed on eternal hold once again. Meanwhile, my time clock is ticking away and I had to be out of this house by the end of the day because we moved on the last day of the month. After being with them on the phone for HOURS, they basically said that there was nothing that they could do and would not be able to get me a second truck and crew for several days, at an additional cost to me, of course! When I argued with them that it was their own fault that they ran out of room on their truck because of wasted space and haphazard loading, they wouldn't budge and left us hanging with 90% of my belongings moved and 10% remaining at the old house. Also, their moving truck leaked about 2 quarts of engine oil on the BRAND NEW driveway of our $1.3M home. They said we had to file a claim to seek reimbursement, which was a whole other fiasco. After following their instructions and jumping through all the hoops that they make you jump through to file a claim online, they DENIED reimbursement for the damage to our driveway and only offered to pay us pennies on the dollar for the very expensive furniture that they scratched, gouged or broke into pieces. What a slap in the face! We ended up having to hire a different moving company to come move the rest of our stuff that Bellhop could not move. This, by far, was THE WORST moving experience that I have EVER had in all the moves I have done in my 51 years on this Earth. I DO NOT RECOMMEND EVER USING BELLHOP FOR YOUR MOVING NEEDS. This moving company is an absolute joke. Quotes me $600 to move. I only had 8 items going 12 miles down the road. I was moving from a two story house so to make things easier I brought everything down stairs. The movers showed up on time however after an hour and 15 minutes had passed all they had loaded was a mattress. They continued to milk the clock. The move ended up taking 6 hours instead of the 3 quoted and I was charged an additional $500. Absolutely insane. $1100 to move 8 items 12 miles when I had done the hard work at the start house. So convenient and fairly priced! I found it annoying with other moving companies requiring to call to book and get a quote. I loved the simplicity of having a general idea of the cost and the ability to book online on my own time without feeling pressure. Once you put in a requested date/time slot of your move, a team is assembled and you will be alerted of who is assigned. I was nervous because the only move date we could do was on Fathers Day but we still got a group of great guys to help us! Our time slot was 8am and they arrived about 10 minutes early. They give you a call ahead of time when they are on the way with an ETA. They worked so quickly. They ended up being quicker than the estimated time they gave so we paid less than expected. Do NOT trust this company. They make you feel so comfortable and then when you have items missing they will do NOTHING for you because they believe their movers. I regret bringing them breakfast, I regret being nice and helping them move items, I regret telling them to take a break if needed, I regret trusting them. I should have run the operation like boot camp and maybe things would be different. I'm a single mom and had to move on a Friday. Rather than scrambling to round up friends and family along with vehicles to make this move from one apartment building to another, I hired this company to help. There was no physical way for me to supervise 3 men at once. One guy stayed in the truck while the other two moved my belongings. Unless I stood at the end of the loading ramp for the ENTIRE process, there's no way to monitor every move. Did I mention how they did not only arrive in the moving truck, they brought a personal vehicle as well? Sure they showed me the packed truck and later on an empty truck but did I think I needed to check their personal vehicle or the cabin of the moving truck as well? No, but you better believe I'll never make that mistake again. Now that I'm doing inventory of all my belongings but it's outside of the 5 business day window after the move, this company will do nothing about the fact that I have kitchen items and paintings missing. Not to mention how 5 business days would also overlap holidays and I HIGHLY doubt the company would have responded any differently. The check has not arrived as of yet which has been over 35 days. They told me the first check was sent, but it wasn't. Then was told the person who had to approve the check was not available. But I have had the worst experience with Bellhop and it continues to get worse. We planned to use them as our movers because they had a great price per hour and amazing reviews. Everything was great getting everything for our love set up. Super easy website to use which is great. (This is why they are getting 2 stars) But come moving day, they just...... never showed up........... We had our entire move planned around the movers coming the day before our lease ended so we would have time to clean. And they just never showed. It caused us so much anxiety and SO much money to get everything figured out and having to call last minute movers the first weekend of the month was actual hell. The only thing they offered to make it right was to move the move and get 25% off. Absolutely do not trust Bellhop for your moving services. I had my two movers booked for a Saturday morning move-and 12 hours before my move, they pulled out the rug from under me. Twice during the week leading up to my move, i asked for contact info for my team to confirm time and location and was told they couldn't do that, and they would reach out to me the day before. After hours on Friday, they sent me an email stating they had tried to call and leave a voicemail (they didn't), but they were unable to fulfill a team for me the next morning. Their solution was to push my move 48 hours to Monday morning for a 20% discount. After explaining that 1-I already have a truck booked and it's after hours and too late to cancel it, 2-my lease ends Sunday so waiting till Monday would be a lease violation requiring extensive fees, and 3-that moving to Monday would force me to take off work as well, they had ZERO answers. A measly $150 if I did go with Monday to go towards my lease violation. An email, late on a Friday night, after ignoring attempts to be proactive with communication, cancelling my move 12 hours beforehand, absolutely insulting and unacceptable. My ex hired Bellhop to move her furniture out of my house and when I got home I saw several scrapes, dents, and gouges in my walls and ceiling. Upon contacting them I was sent a settlement claim for $150, but in her name. I felt this was enough to have my home fixed, but spent the next 2 weeks trying to get a hold of the one person who could put the check in my name since it was my home that was damaged, but my ex who hired them. After numerous calls, being put on hold, and replying to emails, the guy I had to talk to said sorry, the check has to be sent to her, so arrange to get the money from her. If you tell them how specific items need to packed, they will ignore you and do whatever they want. Driver arrived four hours late to new home and was annoyed that he had to complete the delivery. They canceled after "introducing the pros" who were supposed to move. After a phone call with an unhelpful support representative, I was promised that instead, my move would be guaranteed to happen the following day (Saturday). I should've known better.. Not even 24 hours after being promised the Saturday move, it was pushed to the following MONDAY. I picked my move to back up exactly with my lease ending, this has screwed my move completely. I have yet to see real support offered, or even decent financial re-coup for the delays not only for myself but many others. Let's start at the beginning. On 01/27/2020 I created a reservation online for 02/01/2020. I was concerned that my request wasn't clear thus I called to confirm what my needs were. I was planning a move within the same apartment complex from one building to another (one bedroom to a studio). The agent I spoke to confirmed that she had "fixed" my online request. The day of the move two young men show up (no truck, no equipment) because evidently that's what was requested after the phone conversation... a "labor only" request. I immediately asked if they had a dolly to which he replied, "no but I should buy one". I showed them the items that needed to be moved and he assured me it would be taken care of within the 2 hour window. During the process i placed many items on the porch for a quicker/easier retrieval. At approx the end of this two hour window myself and my partner started carrying items over as it was evident this estimate was grossly inaccurate. The employees actually asked if i still wanted a part of the couch moved that remained in original space. Yes of course. I hired movers for a reason. The entire process took just short of 4 hours and many items remained in the original apt. I contacted customer service to address all of these concerns. I was advised I would receive a return phone call. Instead I received an email 10 min before the end of the business day advising me that the original review of my complaint was accurate and all charges would remain the same. After a second attempt, again which i was advised I would receive a phone call I got another email saying "45 min would be removed from the charges". Long story short. The kids who work for the company did their best. However there are many areas for opportunity. Do yourself a favor and hire another company. read more

Bellhop proposed a claim settlement that was ridiculous! First off their claim form couldn't even handle all of the damage that was done. I kept getting messages that the file was too large. I had to send pictures via email to get around the system that isn't set up to handle the amount of damage that was done. Now the offer they have proposed is insane!! They created thousands of dollars of damage including damage to fabric chairs and scratched and dented Washing machine and scratched high end bicycles. The amount of the settlement that they offered wouldn't even fix a small portion of the damage they created. They didn't use enough of the blankets I provided and now they don't believe that they should have to pay for the damage that they created!! I didn't do enough due diligence when looking for help to move our things into 4 pods going from Austin to Colorado. I called Bellhop and asked if the people they send were trained specifically for moving, wrapping etc. I also relied on the positive reviews. The guys that showed up were nice enough but it was clear they were not professionals and this was a gig. At that point I should have considered stopping them. I didn't and paid for it. I spent time going in and out of the house to try and watch, but some of the pods were closed before I had a chance to see how they stacked things. I had bought moving blankets and while they were loading went to get more, but they didn't use enough and didn't wrap a lot of pieces that got scratched, dented or in some cases completely destroyed. We had our pods in storage for a month before taking delivery of them and when they were opened and we looked and found a lot of damage. A metal bed frame had been placed on top of a large expensive wood cabinet and the end of the frame severely scraped it. A king bed was dented, scraped and has some broken pieces - parts of it were just places on top of everything else in a pod, no blankets covering it etc. I have someone coming this week to try and repair that damage which will probably cost $500. Boxes labeled heavy were on top of others that said "fragile do not stack anything on top of this." It was a mess to be honest, and as jumbled as things were I'm a little surprised more wasn't broken or damaged. I would never advise anyone to use them for moving purposes. Contrary to what I was specifically told they are not professionals and if you have anything nice there is a very good chance it will be damaged. As others have mentioned you have a limited time frame to make a claim and then you will have to fight for the pennies per pound they insure for. In our case after they were loaded we didn't see our stuff for over a month. Seeing our possessions in the state they were in after opening the pods was depressing. We were angry and we are still upset a month later. Maybe hiring some young inexperienced muscle works for other tasks, but I would reconsider using them to move anything of value. read more

Lucky that I called ahead to inquire if the loaders would need special moving equipment for the piano, otherwise we would have been in real trouble the day of the move. This is a long and honest review. If you're considering bellhops PLEASE read the whole thing. We found bellhops and saw they had amazing reviews so we chose them as our movers. Now we have little kids so we wanted a speedy move so we rented crates, packed everything up, stacked it all in our garage so it would be easier for the movers to take all of our stuff. Only the big furniture and appliances were inside the house. So we expected maybe 4-5 hours max of moving time. Boy were we wrong! It took them 9 hours. The things I dont understand are: -Why they would bring 1 experienced person and 3 people who have no experience. -Why they won't wrap your appliances or furniture. We found so many damages and dirty marks EVERYWHERE. -Why it took them 2+ hours to get our regular two door fridge out the door -How they managed to completely drop our fridge on the ground during the process -How one of the workers try to bribe my husband by saying if he didnt file a complaint he'll just try to buy him the broken part (there was obviously more damage internally but he was trying to get away with just one external part) -How they completely destroyed the door frame and weather strip at our new place when bringing in the fridge -How they left some of our stuff outside on the street and when we asked what this stuff was doing outside they were clueless -How they just completely ignored all of our suggestions on how to move our stuff and eventually wrecked a couple items And the list goes on. Honestly I do NOT understand how this company gets good reviews and ratings. I moved 20+ times and this was by far the most worst experience I've ever had. Customer service was at least ok. They responded quickly and tried to be reasonable. But still, for the damaged items it's only 60 cents per pound so please read your contract and rethink if you are considering this company. However, the last two times I've used them it seems the company has gone downhill. One item was damaged by the movers and a replacement of it would be $579, after filing a claim I was offered a settlement of $72..just 12.5% of the cost to replace.
