Noel the owner was great and the movers were great. It was a small apartment move (less than 1 bedroom) to a one bedroom across the street. They didn't have the proper moving equipment and it took 4.5 hours! They had one small dolly. The hallways were long so you needed a moving valet which is a huge box with wheels. You can take so much more at one time. They had to make so many trips with the one dolly. Move should have been 1/2 the time. read more

Ok everyone -- if you are moving, THIS is the company to use ... they were AWESOME (and, I'm not getting paid to say that!) I flew down from Connecticut to help a relative move from Austin to Houston yesterday. He had hired Spaceman. I was shocked and concerned to find out that he didn't have a signed contract in hand the day before the move - after all, who does business without a signed contract these days? Nowell (the owner) sent a simple contract upon request, but noted they've been around awhile and normally just go by word of mouth. I was praying they'd show up the next day but ... sure enough, two movers promptly arrived on Moving Day. They were courteous, respectful, helpful, and most importantly... professional, efficient, and focused! The movers -- Dakota & Jade --. worked incredibly well together. Wow, what a team! They tackled the move with utmost efficiency. I was impressed and grateful to be working alongside them. They were so kind and couldn't do enough to help with even the littlest things. For instance, I was having difficulty removing a nail high up on the wall ... Jade came right over and said, "Let me help you with that, Ma'am." There were several challenges during the move-in in Houston but they never complained or got dismayed. Instead, they quickly figured out the best way to tackle each challenge. Throughout, both men pressed forward to load & unload as quickly as possible, knowing that labor was being charged hourly. Flexible, accommodating, professional, and honest. This was our first time using professional movers. I chose SpaceMan based on the Yelp reviews, and since they are based in 78704, as we are. Nowell, the owner, was quick to respond to my inquiries and last minute request for an additional mover. The rates are very simple ($50/hour/mover + $50 1-time destination fee). We had three movers pack up our 4/3, 2200 sqft house. They loaded the truck up, with some help from my wife and I, in about 2 hours. The unloading was a little quicker but with travel, the total time was 4.5 hours. This is about what we budgeted for. Nowell was nice enough to show up at the beginning of the job to outline the packing of the truck for his guys. Out of our stuff, only one item was damaged (rain gauge) and was mentioned to me with an apology. It wasn't destroyed, just cracked. In all, not a big deal. As far as a comparison, I cannot honestly say. However, I can say my wife and I have moved 8 times and this was the most pleasant and efficient move yet. The owner, Noel, is helpful, kind, and answers questions promptly. They charge per guy per hour plus a reasonable travel fee. This was the VERY best moving experience I have ever had (and I have moved 7 times in the last 10 years). I will most definitely use them again. They were the most conscientious (and conscious) movers, treating each box like it contained my great grandmother's china. They were friendly and very calming in a somewhat stressful situation. This is a case of paying a little bit more to get a LOT more. We've owned 12 homes in 20 years & used these guys for 2 recent moves. They are the best we have ever seen. They show up on time, dress neat, are courteous, professional & fast. The crew leads really know their stuff & will get more into your truck or storage space than humanly possible. They are very careful with your belongings, don' damage floors or walls and most of all they do not stand around or talk on the phone. Yes they are a bit more hourly, but they are twice as fast as most crews, which will save you money. Nobody enjoys moving. It's super stressful. One of the worst parts, to me, is finding people you trust to move your belongings with care. I've had some less-than-savory experiences with movers in the past, ugh. BUT! The dudes at Spaceman totally took the anxiety and difficulty out of moving our big items. We were just moving from a house in Hyde Park to a new place in Windsor Park, so not a far way to go, but we have some big pieces of furniture that we needed expert help transporting. Nowell and his team are so awesome. They got everything in one truckload. They lifted, packed, and unpacked all our furniture - including a super heavy oak desk and a giant entertainment unit - without any complications. It took way less time than I thought it would, and seriously, these guys are SO NICE and funny. I love these guys. I didn't want to hire movers because I didn't think it was worth it, but I knew it would be as soon as I talked to the owner. He was so nice, and I never felt uncomfortable during the entire move. The guys were awesome, they definitely know what they're doing. I will never recommend this company. They took 11 hours to do a 4 hour job., constantly stopping to make calls and talk on the phone. I was so fed up I started helping them move and was injured in the process. It was the worst experience I have ever had. I had a two bedroom 11 hours is absolutely ridiculous! Would have been fine, but it took 2 MONTHS after telling the owner of Spaceman to have the problem finally resolved. Price - Competitive. I finally decide to move and I was able to talk to Ryan. It was easy to get in touch and schedule an appointment. They came a couple hours later but I didnt mind. They kept me posted on their whereabouts and time of arrival. What's really important for me was the way they handled my things. They carefully carried and made sure not to damage any of my old but precious cargo. They also have a system to their packing. I didn't have any issues unloading afterwards. They did a great job. I had a 1/1 apartment. It took less than 2 hours to get it in the truck. Its a bit pricey but I'm willing to sacrifice a couple of dollars for some help. He also waived the travel fee since I just needed help to move my things in the truck. All in all I was satisfied. read more

We've used Spaceman moving two times in the Austin area and both times have been a breeze. The movers were professional, polite, and fast regardless if the weather was scorching. My husband stayed in the house with the movers while I took my dogs on a walk. By the time I got back, they were pretty much finished with maybe 15 minutes to go.
