    - I went for the dessert Summer Tasting Menu: $75 includes tax, gratuity, and all fees, which is a good deal. It was the right amount of food, and a very nice experience. I recommend it. They have one big communal table, and a few seats at the window bar. - They do not yet have a liquor license, but you can byob. I highly recommend stopping at Woerner Liquors 2 blocks away to get chilled champagne to bring in. - Knock on the door; they keep it locked. - As of July 2023, they operate Saturdays only; they plan to expand to Fri/Sat/Sun. They also plan to offer an a la carte menu in addition to the tasting menu. There were two fails and five wins: 2.0/5: Beverage: Mandarin and apricot shrub soda to start. It had a muddled, weak flavor, and got worse as the ice melted. All the more reason to byob. 4.0/5: Intro bites: Vegan milk bread biscuit, berries, salted butter, Pickled bites. The Biscuit was heavenly light. Pickled items were ok. 2.5/5: Snow peach sorbet with soft meringue, chopped peach, light syrup, violet petals: The texture was ok, but it lacked actual peach flavor: it was generic sweet, and skippable. 4.5/5: Fig leaf panna cotta with hazelnut ice cream. Who knew that fig leaf tasted so good. The hazelnut ice cream had an extra kick of caramel, which was brilliant. 4.8/5: Souffle bread pudding: a sweet simulation of a savory dish, using vegemite, caramel, coffee sauce, and black truffles. Sauce is phenomenal. Souffle is light but flavor-packed. 4.8/5: Viennetta semifredo with cookie: The semifredo had dried cured black olives, which are almost like savory shaved chocolate. The chocolate chip cookie is super-dense and decadent. 4.0/5: The surprise take-home gift was a fudge-like square covered with caramel topping.

Tiramisu bomboloni $4.50 Limited edition flavor

The tiramisu bomboloni is spectacular!!! If you love tiramisu, donuts, or food in general, you need this in your life. It tastes exactly like tiramisu! Filled with mascarpone cheese, a coffee drizzle, and dusted with cocoa powder. The other flavors are winners as well, but this is a limited edition. Lucky for me, otherwise I would turn into a bomboloni from eating too many. https://48hills.org/2021/03/good-taste-snack-attack-tiramisu-bombolini-loaded-spuddy-buddies-tamale-care-packages/

It's been a little over a year since my first time trying B&C, and things have definitely changed…read moresince then--in a good way! I definitely feel like the team implementing the 7:45AM start time to line up has helped a lot. Not only is it better for the neighbors, but it also makes the whole experience feel a lot less chaotic compared to showing up super early and scrambling to get in line. Everything feels much calmer and organized now. As for the pastries: To be honest, it really depends on what you like. I'm one that gravitates towards pretty much anything with meat and chocolate. Because of that, most of their savory/meaty and creamy pastries are always a must for me. They're super flaky, flavorful and decadent. You can really tell how much time and effort they put into making everything as high quality as possible, especially since you can see them making everything from the window while waiting in line. All in all, I think there's been a lot of improvement over the past year with some trial and error. Their pastries have always been delicious and I personally think it's worth the wait. I recommend getting to the area closer to 7:45AM so you have a better chance of being towards the front of the line. If not, it's still better to come before opening, I just wouldn't recommend getting there right before they open. By then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything you want since they do run out depending on how many people are there.

This is my favorite cake shop in the area and should be the bar for cakes everywhere…read more The buttercream on the cake is the best. It's soooooooooooooooo smooth and buttery. I would eat the cream by itself if they sold it that way. Good thing I don't live nearby. I saw one review say that some of their chocolate flavor or cookie flavors weren't as good, which I understand. I had a cookie cake and didn't taste the smooth, buttery taste I was looking for. I highly recommend cakes that let their vanilla frosting shine without mixing too many flavors. Flavors: - Raspberry & lychee was amazing - Key lime was a little too tart for my tastes, but I still loved the buttercream - Cookie was just ok

Very modern industrial, no seats, pickup only. Everyone was very nice as I pretended to fit in as someone who could splurge on $50 (4-6 little servings) worth of cake. I only got a taste of this cake from a friend of a friend's birthday cake leftovers. The chocolate dulce de leche one I initially tried was divine, but not available when I went in the afternoon a week later, so I settled on the lemon one, not bad. The buttercream was the best i've EVER had, and that's a big statement. These cakes are definitely designed for someone of a different income bracket than me, but if you want to treat yourself to a LUXURY slice of cake, ride your squeaky bike or cybertruck over to the Dogpatch (still a trip how upscale it's become the last 20 years) and feel like you're Marie Antoinette without a care in the world!

I ventured to Juniper during the late morning rush, and while there was a line out the door, it moved quickly and the bakers were hard at work keeping the pastries stocked throughout the morning. As I waited in line, I admired the impressive selection of sweet and savory croissants. Since I visited during the summer, many of the pastries featured fresh tomato and stone fruits. While I was tempted to try one of each, I was on a mission during this visit to try the black sesame kouign amann. When I placed my order at the counter, I was served a fresh-from-the oven kouign amann - this rarely happens! I couldn't resist trying a piece as I left the bakery, and it was indeed exquisite. The black sesame kouign amann from B. Patisserie is my gold standard, and Juniper's version is a close contender. While the black sesame flavor is much lighter and the texture fluffier than the B. Patisserie version, I liked the abundance of the crispy edges (as well as the year-round availability). I will certainly be back to try more of Juniper's pastries.

They still had all their items in stock, including the seasonal fruit danish and elote danish. I opted to try the cubano croissant since it was labeled as award winning on the menu. I was surprised to find a decently thick cut of pork inside the croissant, since most croissants are typically rolled with thinly sliced pieces of meat. The croissant was flaky and buttery. Definitely a must try for a savory option. There are a few tables at the back of the bakery to chat/eat but it can get crowded when people are waiting for their items. Solid spot for delicious pastry items!

I arrived at the bakery before it opened on a weekend morning, and there were already a couple of brave souls in line. I waited only about 25 minutes for the bakery to open, and once doors officially opened to customers, I was in and out in no time with my fresh pastries in hand. I enjoyed my almond croissant as soon as I got back home, and now I fully understand why Arsicault is at the top of everyone's SF bakery list. The almond croissant was still warm, the inside struck the perfect balance between fluffy and gooey (from the almond paste), and the exterior was nicely crisped. The almond filling is super rich and decadent yet not overly sweet. I also noticed - and appreciate - how Arsicault's almond croissant doesn't include toasted almonds on top, since these can often get over-baked and taste bitter. I definitely agree this is one of the best pastries in SF now.
