I received a gift card for my birthday to Bellacures. I called a few days ago and made an appt so I could go with my friend. They were considerate to make sure we had side by side chairs (nice and plush). They brought a tub with a liner so I didn't worry about foot health. Pure was the nail technician and she was great. The ambiance is lovely, it's calm and quiet, with more lounge music than pop (Frank Sinatra not Lorde--not that Lorde is bad--just giving you the vibe of the place). It's more expensive than I would ordinarily be able to afford, so it will remain a "splurge" place. And their "package" deals do not seem to be less expensive than it would be if you ordered a la carte. In fact, everything seems a la carte, according to the menu on the wall. Still they were respectful. No one tried to upsell me. They wished me a happy birthday and even gave me $5 off for my birthday. I will definitely go back and ask for Pure. read more

I rarely review businesses on Yelp , but I could not pass this opportunity up. The reputation/buzz about this place has made me want to try it for a while just to see what the hype was about. I bought some prepaid gift certificates at a school's fundraiser. Put it to you this way, I have enough credit to go back again and I won't. I don't even imagine giving the gift certificates to a friend. So they'll probably end up in the trash. The few upsides: free valet parking, online scheduling system, and the chairs were very unique for a salon in that i felt like you were getting the services in your living room. It was also pretty clean. I spent $75 on a mani-pedi and I'm all good with throwing down that kind of money if I'm getting what $75 is worth; meaning knock your socks off customer service from the time I walk in until the time I leave. I could live with the actual treatments being average if I'm getting the illusion like my money and patronage is appreciated. Maybe I'm a snob, but I really do not want to get my nails done in a place where the technicians that are not working are lounging on the client chairs across from you, reading magazines, speaking another language, and giggling like high school students. It came off as unprofessional. I was never offered a magazine or water or coffee at any point during the service. It's just my personal preference, but I like to relax when I'm getting a service and it was not relaxing between the other customers talking on their phones (some on speaker phone) and the music choice of top 40 piping into the salon which included Nikki Minaj, Selena Gomez, and Maroon 5. I like those artists, just not when I'm trying to be pampered. So the treatments themselves were not that much to write home about either. It was your regular mani/pedi that you could get anywhere. If I could do negative stars, I would. My friend and I were going to get our nails done today. My sister was late for her appointment and they charged me $80 for a no show appt. When I asked the owner why they were charging so much, they said, "we are an upscale salon. There are no ASIANS trying to talk to you." I have been a long time customer of Bellacures since they first opened the Robertson location. I am a fan, really! This review and 2 star rating is strictly for my visit on Saturday 11/9. I decided to splurge and try them for a Gel Manicure. I had just gotten my first ever gel manicure at a hole-in-the-wall place in Joshua Tree two weeks ago and so I needed gel removal and then reapplication. I called at 6:15 and they said they could take me in 15 minutes. Score! I headed over and after picking out my polish, they promptly seated me and got started on the manicure. The polish removal went well, it was painless and easy. Then the filing and shaping started. It was the usual, totally uneventful, aside from my complaint w all nail salons...they all use the thick, coarse files to shape nails, so they are always rough and catch on clothes when I get home. But even still, my manicurist took care to cut and shape them in the way I wanted. Polish application was also uneventful. Even though it was nearing closing time and I was the last person in the salon, she asked if I was happy with 2 coats of color or if I wanted one more. I knew that would take longer and 2 coats was adequate so I told her she could go ahead and apply the top coat. After the top coat was applied, she started filing the sides of my nails to remove the clear coat that was on my skin and this is where I am having to dock a couple of stars...She used one of those long, extra thick coarse files and started sawing back and forth VERY rapidly and in a blink, she had sawed through my skin creating a very painful gash along side my thumb nail. It bled in the salon so she applied a burning astringint to it to stop the bleeding. I may sound like a baby, but it hurt like a mother ALL weekend, if I even so much as touched it. Because the gel removal process is so drying, instead of the cut knitting together, it split and got wider apart, making it even more painful. It leaked plasma all weekend and is just now starting to crust over and look like it is healing (but it's still sore.) For a $50 manicure ($60 with tip) I just find such carelessness to be pretty crappy. I loved my manicurist in every other way, She took so much time with me, even after closing, but I HATE those thick, coarse files (they always leave my nails a little rough too) and I can't for the life of me figure out why they don't use the thin, fine files that are also available. If it had been one of those kinds of files, this wouldn't have happened. I'm posting a picture too. It's the red painted thumb nail with a gash along the side :) I'll be back, I would even go to this manicurist again, but I will be bringing a thin, fine file and I will be insisting that it be used instead! read more

We rented out Bellacures as the venue for my daughters birthday party. The girls had so much fun getting their manis and pedis, they were in paradise being pampered. The staff was so nice and accommodating, they answered all my questions in a timely manner and made our party run so smoothly. The technicians were so quick and were able to get all the girls their services in a timely manner. We brought in our own food and they allowed us to bring in a face painter as well as a charmsies artist. We would highly recommend having Bellacures host another party for us, next time we might do a moms day event. read more

One of the worst pedicures I have ever had. For $30 the entire event lasted about 25 minutes in a filthy setting. I feel like I need a shower after sitting in fabric chairs with nail clippings all over them. A kid next to me has their dirty uggs digging into another chair that some poor person has to sit on next. In regards to the actual pedicure, it was the most rudimentary pedicure ever and just a plain old nasty experience. Boo. read more

I love this place. It is clean, new tools are used with each customer and everyone is very friendly. I have been here on many occasions and have never had a problem. i really like that they don't use the pedicure spas (since those are known for creating bacteria). they use tubs with disposable liners, and it is great. I just had my first visit to Bellacures. I booked an appointment online which was so easy! I booked a pedi and a polish change. I arrived 15 min before my appointment time and they were able to take me! I wouldn't say the place is dirty but I wouldn't call is spotless either. I picked my polish from a great selection of colors and brands and headed to my comfy chair. I am a little scared of those pedi chairs with the bowls attached because of the cleanliness so I love that they use a chair and bring a pedicure tub to you. No dirty jets to worry about here! While one gal started on my nails another started my pedi. The royal treatment ;). My pedi was great. It was a basic clean up and an awesome polish job. My polish change on my nails could've been a little better. She did not paint all the way to my cuticle and left what looks like a few day grow out. Not a deal breaker I will just be sure to watch more carefully next time. All in all it was a great visit! read more

While they do what I expect to have done in a manicure/ pedicure, it does not warrant the price. The nail polishes are average and what you see anywhere (no high end polishes like Chanel, Butter, etc) and there were no extras to justify the price. They put me down on the wrong day for my appointment, the chairs were shabby, nothing extra in the foot soak and the water wasn't warm, limited massage, I was never offered a beverage, etc. If you want more pampering and something worth the price, a day spa will give you a lot more for your money. read more

The girls at the reception desk are so rude. I will never go back there. I walked in and they were having a personal conversation. They continued talking without acknowledging that I was waiting. After a while, I had to butt in to their conversation to say that I was checking in. One of them looked at me rudely and just said yes. They then disappeared and my friend and I were left standing there not knowing what was going on. Eventually someone else came over and I asked her for help. The nail technicians are fine, but the receptionists are awful. Don't support these nasty people. read more

I treated my daughter and myself to mani/pedi's.....when I went to pay it was $200. I have never had to pay extra to have my callus' removed from my heels. It has always been included in the price. I had said I didnt need it done and they said "yes, I did". I didn't know I had to pay an extra $30 for us both. The upselling is annoying....they said how dry my arms were...big deal! That was another $15 for the paraffin treatment. Amy who did my fingernails (shellac) was very sweet, but I would never return. I live in Canada and with the exchange it cost me the price of my flight.....$260 plus a $25 tip.....I am very upset with them....relentlessly encouraging more services and not disclosing any additional fees. It is a manipulative sales technique where the client feels they are being taken good care of and all the while these extra serves are being tacked on your bill, at exuberant prices - $15 for callus removal?? Everytime I walk into Bellacures it's always so clean and pleasant. The front desk girls are all so nice and greet you and would even help you choose a color if needed! I get gel manicures which are a little on the pricier side but it's totally worth every penny. Amy is the one who does my nails and she's amazing and she gives the best massages that are so relaxing. Been getting my nails done in Sherman Oaks for almost forty years, and I could write a book of my experiences. I have high standards, but they are reasonable. This is THE MOST overpriced salon I've been to. I don't mind paying more for a good job, which is why I avoid the bargain-basement nail salons on every other street corner. Bellacures charges high-end prices, and their work is like every other cheap salon on the Boulevard. They speak a foreign language constantly in front of you (very rude!), the salon is filthy (couldn't even think about walking on their floors without putting my sandals on), my mani and pedi lasted twenty minutes, the polishes were old and a poor color selection, the chairs are dirty and they use plastic tubs for their pedicure rather than a comfortable spa chair. They do run on time with their appointments, and you can easily book online and get text reminders. But again, the work is sub par and their exorbitant prices leave you desiring more. Take your money elsewhere. At least you won't overpay for their mediocrity! read more

I think this place is top notch in terms of quality and it's clean which is huge in my book. The prices are WAY too expensive - you're going to be paying what it costs in a spa (think Kinara or even Burke Williams prices) but without the spa experience - other than a lack of cheesy nail posters and music and furniture, it's pretty much like any other nail salon. The prices should come down OR they should start offering more private and / or higher quality experiences for the price. The people who actually do your nails are great but the two girls I've experienced at the check in / reception desk have some improvements to make on their customer service and manner. They kind of act like they're doing you a favor, even though you're paying a lot for nail service. read more
