We have engaged Girl with a Truck for packing services on THREE moves between 2011 and 2021--our most recent was cross-country (and hopefully the LAST move we'll ever do...). Isabella is a clear communicator, incredibly professional & EXACTING about packing--everything has arrived @ all three residences completely intact. I recommend her to EVERYONE who asks in the Bay Area for packing or organizing services. On this particular move, she also helped put us in touch w/ other moving resources that we didn't realize we needed until the last minute. Her recommendation saved our bacon--we were @ the point of deciding between burning everything in a large bonfire or crying. I confirmed an appointment with Isabella over the phone. I received a text at ~7pm Friday night asking me to confirm (again) details by 9am. I missed the text and then, later that same day, I got a note letting me know that our appointment had been canceled. Frankly, with something as important as a move, you think that we'd get a little bit of a warning that without a prompt reply we'd be left holding the bag on our move (which is ~5 days from now). My wife called them to help us move some furniture inside our house. They were 45 minutes late and when they got here they said they couldn't do the job, despite my wife's clear description of the job and its requirements to them. They left us in a lurch scrambling to find another mover on very short notice. Remarkably unprofessional! Isabella (the Girl with a Truck herself) talked my husband into reorganizing his photography/art supplies stuff so that it no longer dominates over our living room, she talked my kidlet into cleaning out under her dresser, and she even talked me into purging my closet again (I'm pretty good about getting rid of stuff)....but the best prize of the Isabella experience was when I found in my closet the green men's sweater that I love and that I thought those goddamned Irish movers I found on Yelp had stolen. I moved on the last day of the month. As morning turned into afternoon turned into late afternoon I got desperate. By the end of the day I was just dumping what was left into boxes and garbage bags and taking it all to my new place. I had imagined waking up on the 1st and having a cup of coffee on the deck of my lovely new place. But--where's the coffee? where's the espresso machine?? Hell--where's the kitchen counter??? I spent the morning assembling my big ol' desktop computer. Then I sent out a few S.O.S. emails! Isabella responded promptly with an estimate and an attached PDF document which covered all the questions that I didn't even think to ask. The "Unpacking Team" of Jessica and Justin arrived at noon on the 2nd. By 5 o'clock I had my lovely new place in tip top shape! Kitchen, bar, pantry, etc. all arranged in neat logical order. (I had them put all my emergency earthquake supplies in a corner so I could check out the expiration dates later.) For the record, I bought furniture and thought I would be able to put it together myself. Yeah, right?!?! Who was I kidding?!? The minute I tried to attach a leg to a table, I knew I was in for a ride, so I did the next best thing; search on yelp for furniture assemblers and found Girl With A Truck. I called on a Saturday evening and of course the whole weekend, was booked, however Isabella called me when they received a cancellation and was able to fit me in the following day. Isabella and Robin arrived prompt and were very professional. They assembled my coffee table set (three tables), dining room table, bar table and six chairs in about 2.5 hours. Each brought a set of tools and worked quietly. It was quite bizarre, I didn't know what to do with myself, so I chatted them up and both didn't seem too annoyed or distracted. All in all, I had a great experience with Girl With A Truck and to top it off, I received a hand written thank you card from Isabella the following week. I hired Bella to help me pack for a move. My apartment was a mess; I had been completely overtaken by several years of back problems and stubborn pride that prevented me from asking anyone for help. The place was a terrible mess. She swept in, figured out in a few minutes how to approach it, and set to work. I made every keep/donate/toss decision, but they "presorted" things for me so that the job wasn't overwhelming. When emotional and physical fatigue set in, Bella was encouraging and helpful - she gave me small "assignments" to keep going without getting overwhelmed. It is hard to explain what a great mix of kindness and efficiency she and her assistants brought to my home, and how much better my life is as a result. So unfortunately, I had to move in a hurry, which is not normally how I roll, but life happens. I heard about Girl With A Truck from someone who had hired her for a previous move. I was like "what packing company is going to give me a decent rate on short notice, and how big of a headache is this going to be? I'm totally about to get ripped off." She showed up with boxes, which was a big help already, and not only helped me pack up my crap, but did a reasonably professional organizing job at the same time. I was just happy to be getting moved out of my apartment, and all of a sudden I could discern which boxes my plates were in. The packing went FAST, and when it came time to move in to my new small place, she even knew where I could get cheap storage for my extra stuff. I hate paying for storage, so getting a good deal there made me feel like my day had improved significantly. She charged me what we had agreed on and then we bid each other a pleasant farewell. I was seriously stunned that good service like this exists in the 21st century. She told me that she does random stuff like office organizing and furniture assemble, which sort of makes sense. In 2010, Isabella and her crew helped us move from a 800 sq ft 2 bedroom apartment to a 3+ bedroom, 1600 sq ft. house. Moving is one of the most stressful life events, and Bella Organizaing performed miracles. 7 years later, we bought our first home which is not as grand as our rental home. Not only we needed to pack, we had to downsize, declutter, sort and organize before we could pack. I'd stand in the middle of the attic, completely paralyzed and overwhelmed by the amount of stuff we've accumulated over the course of 7 years. Isabella and her crew came to the rescue. Our family recently moved from San Francisco to Oakland and learned about Girl With A Truck when doing an online search for packers. To my glee I found Isabella, the Girl With A Truck herself. Not only was Isabella and her team available to pack our entire 3+ bedroom house and office, but she threw in the packing materials for free! Now that's a deal. But that's not all. The GWAT team helped my wife sort through the house to get rid of 20 years of clutter so that we wouldn't have to take it with us when we moved. They also worked with me to do the same in the garage and with the kids in their rooms. The kids loved Isabella and actually had fun rummaging through old toys and books to sell at our pre-move garage sale, which of course Isabella planned and did all the leg-work on. She even took pictures and posted furniture online to help us sell things faster and make more money off them. The team did all the packing, scheduled the movers (since they don't do moving themselves) and unpacked at the new house. They put everything away, arranged all the furniture, and did a great job organizing our new home so that we didn't have to lift a finger (our home business keeps us very busy so we actually had no time for it anyway.) Next they picked up new shelves from Crate and Barrel and a couple beds from Ikea for the kids rooms. Yes, these amazing ladies also do furniture assembly, and are fast and efficient about it. I am still really impressed at how quickly they can decipher Ikea furniture assembly directions. And they took away all the scrap packaging. The GWAT team is organizing our office files at this moment, which really needs an overhaul. Good work GWAT team! Too bad Comcast isn't as on time and reliable as you, or we would have our internet connection right now and I wouldn't have to be writing this review in a public library. Isabella and her crew were fantastic. They helped us declutter our apartment and packed all of our things better then movers ever would have. They even organized as they packed to make things more efficient when unpacking. Then Isabella herself coordinated the move so that we wouldn't be as stressed by moving day. The Short: Girl with a Truck completely kicks butt. Hire her. Don't even question it. The Long: Thursday morning movers dumped 50 boxes of books and miscellany on my sidewalk in front of my house with about one day's notice. I called a bunch of movers and organizers, but no one responded. I called Isaballa (GWAT) and she sent her best organizer over within a couple of hours. The person she sent over, (Robin) carried up the remaining 35 boxes I couldn't carry, unpacked everything, put all my books on the shelves, organized a closet, and helped me put all the remaining boxes away. It was amazing. You couldn't tell that just a three hours prior, there had been 50 huge boxes on the sidewalk. I hired both Isabella and Robin to come in the next day - They helped me clean out all the closets in my house (8 years of stuff!), set stuff out on my sidewalk with a free sign (1/2 was taken away!) recycled all my clothing, computers, parts, and equipment, and then organized my linens, kitchen, and gave me the receipts for all my charity donations. They hauled off everything that people didn't take home, and left my apartment cleaner, more organized, and feeling good that I didn't throw out anything that someone else could have used. Yay Isabella and Robin! They were super sweet, constructive, helpful, and didn't push to throw things away, but pointed out ways to save time, space, and to 'lighten up." NOTE: I only went as far as getting a quote. They charge $45 per person per hour, and they have a 3-person, 5-hour minimum - $675 minimum per day that they work. Since they do not actually move your things, that means they come back after a moving company has moved your things - and then there's another $675 minimum. I managed get a quote to have my 1-BR moved, that included packing, the actual move, and unpacking, all in one day, for a little under $900. Without even including the moving costs the Girl With A Truck would have cost me $1,350 minimum. Again - I did not hire them, but they were too expensive for me. read more

Okay....so call me a skeptic...you would be telling the truth. I usually am very skittish about using varied services. Dry Cleaners, Shoe Repairers, Pedicurists....NO...NO...NO!!! Isabella rocks! She came to my house and helped me get organized. It was so worth it. I can now see my living room again; and best of all, my things are labeled and stored neatly so I can access them if I need to. She and her friend went through what I thought was a mountainous job of "OMG"....and knocked it out in like 2 hours. She was actually asking me if there was anything else we could tackle to use up the remaining time....and just as I thought there wasn't.....you guessed it....there was! She even helped me comb through my piles of unopened mail and paper work that needed to be shredded, recycled and separated, inclusive of lessons on "how to...." along the way! Disappointing experience. Didn't get past the 20 minute "free" consultation. Felt the "Girl" did not listen to my needs but tried to push getting an 8 hour gig out of me. While I was very clear about the extent to my need which would not take more than 3 hours, I got standard suggestions which showed no creativity considering the clarity of my needs. When she finally realized I wasn't going to book an 8 hour gig, I felt that her response was condescending that I had my own ideas whereas she wanted to do it her way. "Oh, you need someone to move furniture and help with files." I needed a solution to arrange a 200 square foot loft I use for my office and sleeping area not an easy project that would take some creativity which I thought she had. I hired someone else who is willing to listen and accept this 3 hour project. Too bad. I had high hopes. read more

I called her for a quote - and after discovering that I'm in Livermore, she noted she'd need four packers minimum and a six hour minimum to pack a kitchen and office. Clearly she wasn't interested in the business. A simple, "Livermore is out of our zone" would have been more appreciated. read more

Fantastic service! I bought a chair that was too big for my car. I emailed Isabella at about 12 AM on Friday night to see if she could help me move my new chair on Saturday.
