It took about 8 months to get started; VERY POOR communication. This is my second home with solar…read morepanels. Officially after 2 months of the power (solar panels) being on. I have seen NO CHANGE in my SoCal Edison bill. I'm still paying $750+ on my bill monthly and now paying an additional $247 monthly to Lightreach, which is the finance company. Im officially paying MORE than before. I called Edison, and they stated I was consuming more power than the amount produced. I need to understand how no one is home from 8:30AM-6:30PM some times later, my kids play sports, is this happening!!!! The salesman is aware that I have an EV vehicle and made sure to assure us that the vehicle's charging wouldn't be an issue with the nighttime charging. I have a Tesla at my other home and have NEVER had this billing issue. I totally regret this. I'm waiting for a call back for the third time this week.

I signed a contract to have Bryton install a new solar system with battery backup and an EV charger…read moreon my house in Oct. '24. As part of that package, they included upgrading the main panel, a sub panel, and undergrounding the power supply as well as installing an EV charger. They installed the panels and battery system in Nov. '24 and then the project stalled because they didn't apply for the correct contracted panel upgrade. They argued with me that my contract didn't include those items. I contracted my salesman, who would only communicate via text and told me they were included. I asked him to send me the copy of the contract which showed this inclusions. He never did. Luckily I found the paperwork and then had to argue for the correct thing since they didn't have the correct contract. I asked numerous times to be provided with the equipment specifications for the system and EV charger and was not provided anything until the end of August when I escalated the issue. In May '25, when they finally came to install the panel upgrades and trench for the underground in May, they were not prepared to dig and they took materials and tools from my garage without permission, damaged them and shrugged when I called them on it. They rented a machine to small for the trenching job and the operator did not have experience in trenching. They were hand digging in 7' deep holes with no safety measures in place and then they destroyed approximately 20' of retaining wall because they were not prepared to shore the existing site installations. They left on a Friday, a different, completely unprepared crew showed up on Monday, took more of my equipment, leaving it all in the open trench and then left before the end of the day. They did not secure the open trench, left garbage all over the area to blow around and ended up being gone for 5 wks with a 6' deep, 115' long, unsafe, open trench. They left an open trench against the power pole and were warned by the power company to refill it as we have high winds and wildfires, and that it would be their responsibility if that pole came down, but did not rectify the situation, placing not only my home but the entire community in danger with red flag warnings that month. In trying to get this solved, the company has dragged it's feet, and refuses to put anything in writing to replace the damaged property. Completely unprofessional. I have contacted them numerous times for resolution to my damaged property and only recently escalated it to a manager that worked with me for a week and now is refusing to make good on the promised items. They are disputing about $250 of reimbursement for a system that in the end will cost me about $120K. My profession is residential construction, I know what is acceptable and what is not. Their communication is horrendous. While the wiring and install of the system is fine, dealing with this company is has been infuriating, condescending, and without resolution and not one I would recommend to any homeowner. They refuse to put the reimbursements in writing and have not provided the method to replace the destroyed retaining wall. I told them I just wanted them to make it all right so that I could give them a good review, but this last pull of the rug has removed that option. Because of this behavior I'm not sure they will even honor the service agreement for this system in the future. Pretty upset about it all . It's 11 months since I signed this contract and it's still not complete and at this point I won't allow their employees on my site to complete the power switchover until I have all of the reimbursement agreed to and in writing. Absolutely ridiculous.

Blue Raven has so far kept its good name in the short time it has been in business. Much better than Solar City and other solar companies. I still stand by what I said above. My only issue and warning is to DO THE MATH YOURSELF!!!! When it comes to calculating how much wattage your system will need, Do add up your yearly total yourself and make sure the system they are trying to give you goes at least 10% over what you need. My system barely covers what they guarantee. With a whopping 50% (Max) savings for my power bill. If you are looking for what they sale, like 0 balance power bill when it's all said and done.(Meaning you should end up selling back just as much energy as you use). Do the math yourself to keep them honest. I'm stuck with a way to small system. That I will have to get upgraded. Customer service is good. they take the time and explain very well that the system is working exactly how it should and the power output is within the system production. They just sold us a system way to small. Yes that means the system is cheaper, but that also means I spent 16K to save 50% (Max usually less) on my power bill. DO YOUR OWN MATH!!! Calculate your own yearly need and add 10%.

Utah remains one of the hottest states for solar adoption. Because of the large number of solar…read morecompanies, it's very confusing to know which one to use. Adding to the confusion is when some companies inundate your neighborhood with sales reps going door-to-door, a practice that--to me--is extremely irritating. Rather than choosing a finance company in the guise of a solar installer (more on that later), I searched through Yelp and found Redstone Solar, and I'm really glad I went with them. I had four different companies provide bids for my system. Chris (the owner of Redstone) surveyed my home and made the most easy-to-understand proposal for the system that would match my specifications. He knew I'd be getting Tesla Powerwall batteries as well as a Tesla automobile, so he made sure my system could provide all the capacity I'd need. He was extremely nice and explained the answers to all of my inquiries. That was very different from the other companies, most of which were an absolute waste of time because they were too busy convincing me to buy solar rather than answer my questions or design a proposal. (I'd already decided to get solar, which is why I asked for bids, not sales pitches.) And unlike one of the competitors, Redstone didn't require me to sign any documentation prior to receiving a bid. (That's just craziness.) The Redstone proposal was not the cheapest, but all of the equipment was name brand and after doing some research online, turned out to be some of the most efficient and longest-lasting solar products on the market. Knowing that solar is an investment, it made sense to go with value instead of choosing the cheapest bottom line. Chris and the other folks at Redstone were also the nicest, had the most prompt communication, and never said 'let me get back to you' to any of my questions, proving that they were super knowledgeable about the products and services they offered. All that--along with the 5-star rating on Yelp--helped me feel like I'd found the right company for the job. Another thing I liked was that Redstone is NOT a finance company masquerading as a solar company. Redstone only does solar; They don't try to sell you their own financing, which is something you'll run into a lot when shopping solar installers. Instead, Chris looked around and found that Key Bank had the best rates at the time, so that's where I got my home equity loan. The system was installed in September of 2016 just as the state was about to change the solar net metering rates. Chris knew I was in a hurry to get in under the wire, so he scheduled the installation over the course of a few days rather than waiting for one full day. That was extremely helpful. In the end I got a 6.5 kWp system with 20 Panasonic panels and a Solar Edge 7600 inverter. Redstone worked hard to get all the city permits approved and get Rocky Mountain Power to install the net meter (the unit that monitors how much power you send back to the grid.) They also worked with the roofing company I chose (because I got a new roof installed prior to the solar system) and provided me with all the state and federal forms I needed for the tax incentives. Initially I didn't see profoundly lower electricity bills from November through February (the most challenging months to garner power from your roof, at least in the northern hemisphere.) Still, my average $100 monthly bills were reduced to between $30 and $40 dollars. From March to May (it's getting sunny and the days are getting longer), my monthly bills have been $9.00. That's right: 900 pennies. I'm able to monitor my solar production online and via an app on my iPhone and iPad. It's a real gas to see how much energy I'm generating (a total of 3.9 MWh so far), how much CO2 I've kept out of the environment (6,027.55 lbs.), and how many equivalent trees I'd have to plant (151.82 trees) to make the same environmental difference. In the end I'm extremely satisfied with my solar system and the job it's doing for me, my neighbors (who use my extra solar power instead of fossil fuel-based energy), and the environment. Now that solar power is under attack from state and federal agencies, it's up to us--the citizens of the planet--to make the investments necessary for our world to be here for future generations. Redstone Solar made that process very easy, and I'm head-over-heels happy with the results.
