Steve, the owner, is very responsive and direct when answering questions without the fluff or BS, which I appreciate so much. He quoted me for the services I requested with a clear estimate and stayed within that. Reo was the technician who performed the service, and he is awesome. He was very thorough in his work and didn't cut corners. He is a great teacher and patiently answered my questions and gave an overview of how I should take care of my appliances. These guys have been amazing. I called them on Friday because our A/C was out and summer was just getting going. Their technician came out and diagnosed the problem...it wasn't good news for us. The problem was the compressor had seized. I asked for a quote to repair the compressor as well as a quote to replace the entire condenser (the outdoor unit). The condenser replacement was actually $5 cheaper. I thanked them and let them know I'd be getting a second quote and get back with them. Next I contacted Home Depot and their preferred HVAC partner in Utah contacted me and a project manager from their company came out to my house on Tuesday at 1PM. That man was very nice and professional. He did an assessment of the space being cooled by the air conditioner to determine the proper size of the unit we would need. However, after measuring, assessing and inspecting the coil and blower units in the attic, he determined the only size unit he could sell was the same size as the broken unit (because that's all the indoor components could support). Their quote was over $3300 compared to the $2000 quoted by American HVAC. If you think there was a catch, there wasn't. One unit was a Lennox unit vs a Rheem unit. Both were 2 ton units with the same SEER score (between 13 and 14). The second company said they don't mark up even though Home Depot takes a percentage, so the comparison was pretty close to apples to apples. Some may say Lennox is better than Rheem...others disagree. In the end, they are both top quality condenser manufacturers with identical warranties. Nothing to warrant a 60%+ premium. So I called Steve back at American HVAC on Tuesday mid afternoon and he honored the original quote and said it would probably be about a week before he could get the work done (compared to 2 weeks for the other company). Then Steve called me back about 30 minutes later and said he thinks they could get it done the NEXT day...on the 4th of July. Sure enough, he called around and was able to find a unit that evening with the installer at my door shortly after 9AM on the morning of July 4th. One final note, not a big deal, but they even deducted the initial $49 I paid for the service call from the week prior. Steven and American HVAC get my endorsement and there is no question who I will call if there is ever another HVAC need. read more

Worst customer service ever guy was a real assbag. We called to get pricing for an inspection, as we're on a fixed income and need to have 1 week notice on any extra expenses. The guy called me names, and threw a hissy fit because I didn't have $195 on me, and wouldn't work out any payment arrangemnts for a $195 service where there were two cables unplugged...and a broken fuse... I will never ever refer them to a friend and I highly advise not using them. If you aren't going to give an estimate you should let a customer know that... We're had tons of estimates before from plumbers, etc and never had an experience like this. read more

Dishonest about what needs to be repaired. Actual part was under warrantee when we checked with our regular provider. Sloppy work - stripped the screws when checking the unit. Owner would not discuss why they wanted to charge $1400 for motor when it was actually under warrantee. Said he was on a job and couldn't talk. CALL SOMEONE ELSE. read more

Never, never, never use this guy. Supernice until he gets your cash, Total dirtbag after the sale. Bought a new Coleman Furnace and York AC system from Steve in 02/2016. Steve was really nice and seemed educated until he had the install done. Then his warranty went out the window. When the house was cooking in the summer, he just blamed it on the "crappy draper house construction" and that it was probably the tenants that broke it. He refused to even come out and look at it unless I gave him a credit card for $195 up front. When I asked about the warranty (less than a year old) he just passed over it and told me that when he wrote the warranty it didnt cover the function of the system, just the units themselves. He was a real ass on the phone, and when I told him that Action HVAC had already been up to fix his work twice he said that I was a liar. Do not, under any circumstances use this guy. You will regret it when you have any service calls. Bad thing is that for a few hundred dollars more I could have had a real professional come up and do the job and offer a real warranty. Steve doesnt have the ability to offer a real warranty because the company is on its last legs and he cant afford to warranty his work. American HVAC is total garbage. read more

Wish I could give negative stars!!! I have a weird smell coming from my vents everytime I use my AC unit. Concerned I called the company that installed our systems. He immediately took defense to my question, rudely responding. A few days later when I returned from a business trip I found an invoice/receipt from this company where we had a paid $170 for a maintenance plan, and written on the bottom it said they needed to return for an AC service. When we purchased this plan we were told that they would call us - no need to contact them. I called and asked for the maintenance to be done. He is now wanting to reject this plan we paid for saying it is expired and I am trying to scam him on fixing my system. He is rude and his customer service sucks. read more

We had American HVAC install a York 96% efficient two stage gas furnace and we could not be any happier. You cannot beat the price or the service. Scott and Brad installed our unit and were awesome! They showed up on time, were professional, friendly and fun. I was completely impressed how they protected my carpet from the front door all the way down my stairs, had an assembly area with tarps and cleaned everything up afterwards. They custom made ducting to accommodate 4" filters, how they accomplished that in such a tight spot is beyond me. They also took the time to explain the unit to me in detail. The furnace is so quiet I find myself wondering if it is working, but it is beautifully. We are looking forward to the savings we will see this winter. I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a new furnace. Lanae read more

I recently had American HVAC install a new heater and ac unit. I have to say I am very pleased with how things turned out. Steve (the owner) discussed a couple problems that may arise and we agreed if they did I would cover the expense. Well, one of them did but Steve stepped in, called someone in and solved the problem at his expense. His guys he had doing the install were very nice and respectful, and best of all they were on time. I would highly recommend these guys. read more

I found Steve and American HVAC on KSL. I had quite a different experience than the previous reviewer and I encourage you to examine his reviews on KSL. If you look at his reviews on KSL you will see that he is the most reviewed HVAC service in the Salt Lake City area. Anyway, I had a house that was being sold and needed the hot water vent adjusted. Another HVAC company (very well reviewed on KSL and Yelp) came over and gave me a price of $850. The job seemed simple and my realtor recommended American HVAC so I gave them a call. Steve got on it right away, did more than required bringing the vent up to code, and invoiced me right away so we could close the house. He was on it from the beginning and truly understood our constraints and timing. Steve did a great job! read more

Called for AC repair. The blower was turning off now and then. Steve came and said we would need a brand new furnace (in the summer when it wasn't in use!). He put a big "CONDEMNED" sticker on the furnace and then disabled it so the AC blower wouldn't work at all. After we didn't call to order a new furnace he called back and offered to "temporarily" fix it for a couple hundred but insisted we would need a new furnace in a month or so. He hung up on me when I asked why the furnace guy from a few months before hadn't said anything about the furnace being bad. We called another furnace guy who chuckled about the situation. He showed me a bad connection wire, said it was a $20 part and fixed it for under $75 total. He said we had probably another 10 years or so on the furnace and we put in CO detectors just in case. AC has been working fine for months now, and so has the furnace. My experience was terrible. It was obvious Steve just wanted to sell us a new furnace--on an AC repair call--rather than making a very simple, low-cost fix. He was very pushy. He insisted our furnace was dangerous and the CO tests that said it was safe were wrong. But what irked me the most was that he couldn't just lose our business with his aggressive tactics--he disabled the AC and furnace completely, and when we didn't call, he called us with a better offer that was still bad. read more

This place was terrible! The very expensive YORK a/c ($4300.00) began failing with 3 years (warranty was up to 10 years for parts if you register). This dealer was horrible to deal with. The owner refused to even examine the unit that he sold us when it started falling apart. Stated he could not drive to our location - 27 miles west of Salt Lake City. Never mentioned this when he was selling the unit to our family. My advice - stay away from this dealer (American HVAC) and this brand (York). read more

Absolutely HORRIBLE! His techs don't know how to wire! Don't know how to run a business Steve! Needed a new ac unit. Great had that installed. But they couldn't get it to work. Just the blower? Told me it was my furnace and it never worked? My furnace was great! They blew the motherboard. WE complained steve came out..they wanted me to run my blower for 7 days! I was 8 months prego and it was hot. Steve fixed the problem for the moment. UNTIL I needed my heat on? MY furnance wouldn't turn on. There was a green light on the the motherboard. Well he sent down his tech Matt. Lets just say...he fried the motherboard again. And again its all our fault. This company probably won't be around for very long. Steve is a very ignornant man. His techs don't know much about the systems they are installing. NEVER EVER let them come in your house!!! Now I have to call somebody else to fix HIS problem! Never ever again. They don't deserve a star rating at all!!! Yes...I'm spreading the word. Not an honest business. If they break it...YOU pay for it. That's his motto read more
