My brother moved from New York to Orem and he is a guy who really does his homework on finding the best of the best. I asked him about someone I could trust to check my furnace (as I had smelled gas) and my water heater. I would like to add that both furnace and water heater are from 1994, that's 28 years ago. While I feared the worst that Will would tell me I needed a new furnace and water heater he came over and spent a lot of time checking everything. He explained everything he was checking and found really nothing that was broken. He also found no gas leak with his meters. We talked about the age of the units but to my surprise and extreme happiness he basically said "if it aint broke, then don't fix it! I asked Will to replace my thermostat which was the old mercury kind and came with the 1994 unit and he brought a brand new digital thermostat. Setting it on the wall with extreme care and a wall mount all was good. I was so so impressed with his work ethic, his personality, his great job. About an hour later I felt like I was in a hot spa. It was suddenly 76 degrees in the house. I called him and we decided to reset but it got even worse and reached what looked like 78 degrees. I called him again. I knew he was fully booked but asked him to please please please come back and replace the obviously defective unit I had purchased from him. A couple hours later he was at my door with a brand new thermostat , set it up and its been PERFECT ever since. He did not charge me to come back, and his price for labor was super fair. It was so fair I felt he deserved a monetary tip and I was happy to do that. Of course he told me I didn't have to do that but seemed truly grateful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! If your technician tells you your furnace has a problem that requires a $4k+ replacement; GO TO WILL AT MONARCH AIR before you do anything! I had scheduled a routine tuneup of my furnace with another company only to have the technician tell me I have a small crack on my heat exchanger, there is carbon monoxide leak, and that I would need to get the furnace replaced. What was even worse another company said the same thing. I was very stressed out at the possibility of CO2 leak & needing to fork out $4k+ right before Xmas. What was more aggravating was that we have up to date CO2 detectors and never any sign our furnace having problems, no weird noises, house stays warm, or any symptoms of CO2 poisoning. Did we really need our furnace replaced or were those guys trying to sell furnaces for bigger commission? Decided to Yelp and Will responded ASAP! He came over, I watched him the entire time when he was working on my furnace. He explained and showed me what he tested, that there were no problems of my furnace, showed signs it was functioning well, that I have a great furnace. He explained that a crack in the heat exchanger is a very common scam to get homeowners to replace their furnace that shouldn't be replaced. Will saved me from being ripped off. He refused payment for the consult, the least I can do is say he's 5 stars, he is honest and was able to show me that there is no problem with my furnace. Highly recommend!!!! We are finishing a partially finished basement in a house we just bought. We received other bids that were four times the price of Monarch. We were excited when Monarch came out with a price that seemed fair without compromising quality. Will was very knowledgeable and fair. He took the time to be thorough: counting the vents throughout our house, as should be done, instead of just throwing out a number like a competitor did. The work was quick and clean. We mentioned we were considering piping for a fireplace, but were worried about cost. Will is so awesome.. I reached out with a heating issue and he called and helped me diagnose over the phone. It was a silly wiring problem on my end and altogether we had two phone calls and a few texts back and forth. I asked if I could Venmo him and he insisted that I not pay him since he felt it was such a small issue. I truly believe any other place would have charged a diagnostic fee plus extra to fix the issue (it took me about 10 mins to do myself). I would definitely recommend Monarch Air. I had an issue with my furnace and I had a pretty good idea what it was. Called for an appointment and they showed up within about 2 hours. Came in tested a couple of components and told me it was the sensor, which is what I thought it was. Did not try to upsell or tell me there were other issues. After talking to a couple of neighbors recently many were told that there was this issue or that issue and talked them in to installing brand new furnaces when I know that they probably did not need to. Because the weather has been so hot, I posted my issue at 10:30 at night, to get a technician out as soon as possible. Will, from Monarch, contacted me within 20 minutes and told me the service call price and said I could call him. With it being so late, I decided to wait until morning. I called at 7 am, expecting to get an answering service, but Will answered. He was able to come out within the hour to get it looked at. He came out when he said he would, and found that I had a bad capacitor. He gave me a good deal on the part, and had it fixed (and verified) in less than 30 minutes. Everything went perfectly! My wife and I are new to Utah...bought a home here in winter so we had to just trust that our Trane central AC would work once the weather warmed up and all. We basically needed the AC unit leveled as the cement slab it was sitting on had sunk a LOT and the unit was way out of level. Being new here, I googled and yelped away looking for a small hvac company as I always feel when you get the actual owner on a job, vs some guy who may care less from the larger companies, I believe you may get better service from the small guys as it's only them, and their business!. In any case Will from Monarch had great reviews with some recurring themes about honesty and price so thought I'd use Monarch. Will had GREAT communication from day one. Gave us an estimate which seemed very fair. We wanted him to level our AC as I say...but also check that all was working as it should..plus needed a small part replaced outside for the heating exhaust. Long story short after a few prior attempts to do the service due to weird cold weather..finally had a nice day and it would be at least 60 degrees so Will could test our unit after he leveled it etc. Everything went great..PLUS Will went above and beyond..in explaining to me lots of stuff about my AC and even a built in humidifier system I had no idea how to use. He checked our furnace too at no charge, did not try to SELL me anything!,...overall was just a super nice guy...did a great, NEAT job and was super honest.
