Brio Solar Energy

Brio Solar Energy

Stuck with 20yr loan that costs double the price of utility power…read more We had a good start with Brio. Their friendly sales rep showed us how we would save because Brio's solar panels will cost the same as our current energy usage, loan terms were low, they'll do all our permit requests, even for our HOA, and help with securing tax rebates to offset some of the expense. After about 6 months of waiting for the various permit processing our solar panels finally arrived and were installed, and we were all happy. Or so we thought. Once Brio got our money and the loans started, things went pear-shaped. The panel array on our roof--supposed to cover our power needs--didn't even cover 30% of our needs. That power the panels generated also cost 2x the price than what we would've paid through our power utility. It took over a year of us repeatedly contacting Brio (most responses involved us needing to call a third party that was great in ignoring our pleas for help) before we got a defunct panel fixed. There is no contract where Brio lays out what our panels will produce--only a contract with a credit agency--so we're stuck with paying double the price of energy (once for the solar panel loan and again for the energy we have to purchase because the panels are insufficient despite claims they would meet our needs) for the next two decades!

He told the guy I'm not doing another thing for you until I get what I was promised. Within a week, we had our smart thermostat that we were promised at signing. I hope their business practice grows and they learn a few things from all of this.

Ambia Solar has been a lackluster nightmare…read more Dallas, our sales representative, sat and told us to our faces one thing and we were actually sold another. Our fault for not reading the novella of a contract word for word. They just dispatched a contractor to cut down my Tulip Tree after I explicitly and repeatedly told them HELL NO!! In spoken words and in writing. The contractor has left and my tree stands still. They also sold us an electric panel upgrade as part of the $42k contract then deemed it not necessary, despite what our electrician says. Their customer service falls flat on its face, is impossible to reach, and simply lets you know you're bent over and fucked whether you like it or not. Oh, and pay them. Panels have been installed for weeks but keep failing the DTE inspection so they haven't actually been working. Absolute failure. Do not recommend!

I had solar panels installed by Ambia and overall the system itself has worked well. However, my…read moreexperience with their customer service during a recent issue has been very disappointing. Before installation, Ambia inspected my roof and confirmed that it was in good condition. Now, only 4 months later, I am being told by multiple roofing contractors that the roof needs to be replaced due to existing and extensive deterioration that should have been addressed before the panels were installed. Because of this, almost immediately after I got the panels, I have to pay $3,250 to have the panels removed and reinstalled so the roof can be replaced -- a situation I would have absolutely avoided if the roof condition had been properly identified upfront. I reached out to Ambia to see if there was any flexibility or accommodation given the circumstances. Not only were they incredibly difficult to get ahold of (their services numbers redirected me to an entirely different company), but despite multiple attempts and polite communication, I was given a firm "no" with no meaningful discussion and no opportunity to speak directly with a decision maker. Every response I received was brief, impersonal, and dismissive. There was little to no effort to work towards a reasonable solution for an existing customer. I still like having solar, but this experience has significantly impacted my perception of the company. I would strongly encourage anyone considering installation to carefully evaluate the condition of their roof independently before moving forward, as this is not something Ambia appears to stand behind after the fact.
