Major clean sale now in progress.

IT HELPS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! When it comes to department stores, all is not rosy. However, I have come to understand that you simply have to know how to shop in order to have the best possible experience. When it comes to women's clothing, I feel as if they just throw the dollar store clothing in with everything else so you really have to shop the collections or specific labels. Back in the day you could literally just shop the entire store because all items were quality. Today that is just not the case and you really have to be aware of fabrics, construction and details. Most importantly, you really have to know if you are actually getting a sale or just getting the fair market value over those exaggerated "pre-sale" prices. When it comes to men's clothing, I really like this particular Belk because they have a nice selection of items ranging from colorful vests and jackets, dress and casual options and plenty of accessories. They aren't afraid of color and less conservative choices and I can always find something for my men. We recently stopped in to purchase some basic items for my husband and the majority of the men's department appeared to be on sale. This wasn't that "End of the year" left over or just that "Rack over there" sale. This included nice items that you actually want to purchase and even new spring arrivals. This particular Belk is best suited for the independent shopper who knows exactly what they need because it is always lightly staffed with only one employee. I have been shopping Belk long enough that I can shop for my husband in his absence and I easily get it right. This was a great experience and we found exactly what we needed!

My sister even traveled from out of town to be there with me, so I was thrilled that we found the dress we were looking for. Although it was expensive, the dress was beautiful and definitely worth it. I had bought the dress, but unfortunately, it was too small. So, I decided to buy it and get it altered by a seamstress. The seamstress did a great job with the alterations, and she hand-made my veils, too. However, the issue arose when my dress was ready and I left it at the store to be steamed and delivered on my wedding day. This was a perk that was explained to my mother, my sister, and me when I initially tried the dress on. But, to my surprise, I received a call a few days before my wedding day, and they informed me that the store doesn't offer professional steaming or delivery. I was shocked, frustrated, and disappointed that we had been lied to in such a distasteful fashion. With only a few days left before my wedding, I didn't have the mental or emotional energy to deal with this let-down. My sister and mother were also upset at having been put in such a tight situation with only hours before the wedding day. We had expected what we were told: that the store would steam my dress and even deliver it on my wedding day so that it would be one less thing for us to worry about. I believe in good business, especially when thousands of dollars are being spent. I will not be making any further purchases from this store. While the dresses are beautiful, I cannot tolerate dishonest sales practices and unfulfilled promises.

The good: Their selection of clothing and especially of special event dresses is fantastic, the owner is very warm and helpful, and their clearance area has fantastic prices. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, I've had some not-great experiences at the store: The first time I went, my visit was fine. The owner wasn't there, but one of the two people working was really nice, and I found some great deals. My second visit was pretty stressful. I went in with my fiance and stepdaughter to look for elopement dresses. The woman working there, who was older and had gray hair, asked us if she could help us find something. We told her that we just wanted to browse. In response, she told my stepdaughter that there were some cute dresses she wanted to show her. My stepdaughter is a sweetheart and very shy. She didn't want to correct the woman or really have to deal with her at all, so I again told the woman that we were fine and just wanted to browse. The woman's response was to again tell my stepdaughter to follow her. My stepdaughter was deeply uncomfortable, and at that point, so were my fiance and I, but she begrudgingly followed the woman. We didn't understand why this woman was seeming to want to challenge our desire to browse. She didn't ask us once what we were actually looking for. Once my stepdaughter was able to break away from the woman, we left. It was the oddest experience--like some weird power play that we didn't understand. I didn't want to let that experience ruin Serendipity for me, especially because it's important to me to support small businesses. So I decided to give it one more chance a few months later. They really do have a great selection of dresses, and I was still looking for something special. That day, the owner, who seems like a really sweet person, was there and the shopping experience was a good one. I purchased two beautiful previously owned dresses. Here's where the experience went south, though; I made the mistake of looking up how much the dresses cost new once I got home so I could congratulate myself on my deal-finding skills. I discovered that they cost LESS new and that they were still available for purchase. So I paid more than I would have had i purchased them new, and the receipt indicated Serendipity doesn't take returns. It was very disappointing. I still might go back at some point, but I'll be checking the cost of items before I make any purchases, and I'll be reserving my visits for times that the unpleasant sales associate isn't there.

I take ALL of my upscale items to Serendipity! Please come shop there you will not regret it!read more

My podiatrist recommended that I check out this location for a specific shoe model. When I walked in, I was greeted by an energetic team and assisted by a gentleman named Geo. He asked me a few questions and suggested we scan my feet, followed by backup measurements for cross-reference. Based on the results, he recommended a few different shoes and brought them out for me to try. Wow! I've never felt in a shoe exactly what Geo described, but the difference from my old, basic shoes was undeniable. While this was the most I've ever spent on footwear, I ended up buying two pairs in different colors. If you're like me--sporting some gray hair and looking for ways to keep your feet happy--be sure to stop by and see Geo at the Mall of Georgia New Balance location. You won't regret it!

Was about to make a doctor's appt when someone asked me the last time I got new shoes (I generally wear running shoes every day or flip flops and only dress shoes for important stuff). Heard about New Balance and how they're now better than Nike in a lot of ways. Stopped into this store and they were great. Got me on the computer to analyze my step, recommended the shoes and the right insoles to keep my ankle from turning in. The lady spent a ton of time just helping me. It was great and the best part? Had these shoes two weeks and NO HIP PAIN! Bizarre! Thanks New Balance!
