I started going to Danny and his crew at Belford a few years ago. They are so reasonable, friendly and fair. They always do a great job!! So much more reasonable than the auto dealers! Today I noticed an odd sound under my hood. It was a Saturday morning. Fortunately I was nearby. I stopped in. The mechanic quickly heard the sound and diagnosed the problem as the alternator. They had the part in no time. I had them replace the wipers too. So glad I did. The new blades are Premiem Quality. In and out in about 90 minutes for a significant repair on a Saturday! I was traveling to NJ and my tire light went off. I knew i needed to take care of it on Saturday bc everything is closed Sunday. I had called the Mavis in Westfield and they were over booked they referred me to Belford. I called and they said no problem. I got there a little before 11 and they got me out in 35 min. Very reasonably priced and thorough. They checked what pressure the tired were supposed to have and made sure they were all at that level and drove the car so the gauge would reset. Highly recommend. After being recommended to me by a friend, I took my daughters car over for a transmission filter/fluid change and was very happy with the service and cost for that. I have a van that had been to 3 different mechanics all diagnosing it as a head problem and recommending engine replacement. I called this shop, to get a quote on engine replacement for the van. I spoke with Bill who was very professional. I explained to him what was going on with the van and what the previous mechanics told me. He quickly provides a quote for me on a replacement engine. I had decided to go with them for the engine and spoke to Bill again about this. He asked me if I minded if they took another look at the van before he ordered the engine. I told him I was fine with that but I don't want to go down the diagnostic rabbit hole again, as I was already sitting in the den. I dropped the car off, then later that day he called me to say he was pretty sure they figured out what was going on with my van. He asked that I come pick up the van and drive it for a few days and see if the problem re-occurs. After some tentative test drives that evening and the next day. I decided to take it on a road trip. The van ran perfect. Bill and his team saved me thousands of dollars on and engine replacement. He could have easily just replaced the engine, charged me and moved on to the next customer. I am so impressed with the team at this place, I took my daughters Kia over for an oil change and have them look at the steering. They quickly diagnosed that issue and was able to resolve it the same day. If you are in need of complex repair/diagnostics or just an oil change, I would highly recommend you give them a try. (4.50 Stars) Ever since that day in 1986 when I grew completely frustrated with Multi Chevrolet repeatedly gouging us for many hundreds of $ on repeated attempts to fix an onboard circuit board and came to Garden State Auto Medix, they've been our auto repair stop. The circuit board only needed to be properly grounded, the cost and lost time were minimal, and Richie and his crew have been heroes ever since. Always fair, reliable and reasonably priced, GSAM has serviced every car we've owned since that day, and were trusted friends. Two years ago Richie retired to Florida, and Belford relocated from Chestnut St. I've been apprehensive as to whether to extend the same level of trust to Belford, although they've been in town for decades. Meanwhile, I'd been noticing a scraping sound from the driver's side front wheel of my Accord . . . was it a bearing, a brake pad or something even more expensive to repair? Yesterday I brought the Accord to Danny at Belford Auto Medix. Service was prompt, personable and courteous. After a few hours Danny called with the diagnosis. A metal backing plate had bent against the wheel, and was straightened. The total cost, with tax, was $30.50. Hats off to Danny and his Team for their service and speed, but more so, for recognizing that customers of GSAM are likely to return when treated fairly. Count me in! read more

I brought my car in to replace the brake pads, and afterwards my car squeaked and rattled. I brought it in again after about a month, because the sounds continued. They "took a look" and even drove me around and said that it's only bad when you open the windows and go over rough surfaces but that it would be okay to drive. Seems like they were too lazy to really investigate the problem and fix their mistake, because $430 later at another auto shop I was shown the problem. They had installed the wrong brake pads and installed them incorrectly. Total cost for this repair and to fix their mistake was nearly $1,000. read more

These guys are so awesome and they are honest and trustworthy. Any time I worried my car had a problem, they would check it over for me and tell me honestly what was wrong and what actually needed fixed. Their work is fast and well done, they are also very nice. I've been going to Belford now Belford Auto Medix for 4 years now and not once have I had any complaints or issues. They've arranged for me to be dropped off and picked up once the service was complete. As well as have driven up 78 west when I was left stranded. They're fairly priced, have been nothing but helpful. Great guys, great service!!! Most certainly reccomend it!!!! read more

Ever since the new owners, this place has gone downhill. They're using the name Belford, but they don't do the quality work that Belford Tire under Gene's management did. They bought the business only from Belford Tire on Chestnut St. in Union, but then left their lease and opened at Garden State Auto Medix. This guy is not a fair priced local repair shop. Get ready to open your wallet when you set foot inside. read more

-100 stars if possible. complete scumbags. told me that my antifreeze tank was leaking and that i needed a new assembly. i went and got a second opinion. The other mechanic told me that they loosened the clamp on the hose that connects to the tank so it looked like there was a leak which the mechanic the mechanic fixed for free in 10 seconds. Also, i got my clutch replaced by them and come to find out a few years later (35k miles after i got my clutch replaced) that the clutch is going out. Clutches do not go out till atleast 90k - 100k miles. They obviously put in a used clutch or refurbished my original one and charged me almost a 1000 dollars. And these are not the only stories i've heard about them from MULTIPLE people from union. Dont know how these guys are still in business. I am reporting them to the BBB. read more
