I first noticed that one of my…read moredear friends had an amazing new haircut, but somehow it took me years to finally make it in myself. I'm so glad I did. I've now had three cuts here, working with two different artists, Amy and Nicole, and I've been thrilled every time. Both listened carefully to what I wanted and worked with me to create a cut that really suited me. The results have been stunning--I've honestly never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. My mother also came in and had a wonderful experience with another stylist, so clearly the talent runs deep here. I'm including photos because many of the salon photos I'd seen featured women with long hair, and I especially want people to know how extraordinarily good they are with shorter hair. Amy and Nicole are absolute artists with a short cut. Warm, welcoming, incredibly skilled--and they really listen. This place is absolutely a cut above!

Love love love it!…read more Finally was able to book an appointment at Amy's Salon and I was super excited to get my much needed haircut! Eleni was wondering! She listened to exactly how I wanted my hair cut. I wanted to get layers and to have the option to style it straight or curly and to keep the length. She washed, cut and blow dried my hair for 65$ which is a pretty good price for the amazing haircut and service! I especially enjoyed the incredible scalp massage as she was washing my hair. She took her time and made it extra special! What a treat! She was very nice and gentle with my hair and I knew I was in good hands. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed and I can't wait to come back! I will definitely rebooking with Eleni!

She gave me the best short haircut and I've only been going back to her since... 2006? I love going to Tarley for several reasons: 1. She cuts your hair fast, but extremely precise. 2. She's a pro. 3. She doesn't ask you why you don't have kids or whether you're planning on having kids or any of that silly salon conversation that you get elsewhere. 4. You can make a reservation with her online... which I love because I hate making phone calls. If you're looking for a badass haircut that makes you feel really good about yourself, you should really visit Tarley. OH. And Work Shop Salon carries Living Proof products, which are the best. Plenty of on street parking... which I've never had a problem with.

Visit #1: I bought a Groupon, which is what brought me into…read moreSalon De Ja Vu for the first time. My African American hair was previously highlighted dark brown and red and was past my shoulders in length. I wanted a shorter style and a complete color overhaul. I showed Gina a picture of jet black hair with subtle electric blue highlights underneath and asked her to work her magic. I was a little nervous that my difficult hair would make the task impossible, that it would come out the wrong color blue, perhaps green, or wouldn't be the bright, edgy blue that I desired. Gina highlighted my hair, put in the jet black dye to get rid of my previous highlights (while avoiding the new highlights - talk about tricky!), then washed it all out before applying the blue to the highlighted pieces. There was no need for nerves because Gina truly understands how to achieve color perfection and does so masterfully. Needless to say, she did a fantastic job and I was thrilled with the beautiful results. I loved it so much that when I went back again months later, I asked for more blue and an even shorter bob. Visit #2: First, Sharon washed and conditioned my super curly hair. Then, Gina took the time to section off the oh-so-many pieces for the full foils required to lift my unruly black hair to blonde .. and I have A LOT of hair. She then cut my curly locks and applied the blue dye. After several washes (thanks Sharon!!), my hair was dried and flat ironed to get a better look at the final color and style. LOVED the color, but I wanted some adjustments on the cut. Any girl with curls knows that a cut can look quite different after straightening and Gina's no stranger to this reality. She meticulously shaped the style I wanted, giving it movement and dimension. Bottom line, Gina puts her clients first, LISTENS to their needs, and delivers. She's realistic about what's possible, is honest about what's required to achieve results, and does consistent, exceptional work. Gina has great attention to detail and really cares about whether her client is pleased. (Did I mention she gave me a second cut, no questions asked, just to make sure I was happy with it before I left?!) I am very happy with my hair. After years of going from stylist to stylist (from Newbury St to Cambridge to the South End, etc), I am so glad that I finally found someone as experienced, talented and affordable as Gina.

As we continued to work together, I decided I wanted to get extensions and Julie was eager to teach me about what kind would work best for my hair type. I decided to test them to see which ones I would like best so I started with K- tips which were absolutely flawless and then moved on to tape ins which also looked amazing before I settled on a sew in weft. I've now had sew ins for the past 2 years and I cannot get over how incredible of a job Julie does at every reinstall. My extensions are always perfectly placed and so undetectable; people are always shocked to learn that I have extensions. I am constantly blown away by her perfectionism and how she strives to outdo herself every single time I see her. Her attention to detail is literally unmatched. On top of being incredible at extensions, the way Julie dyes and lightens my hair is like a dream. I have watched her work tirelessly for hours to get an exact color match for my extensions to blend in with my own hair flawlessly. Whether it's a shadow root touch up or a refresh of my money piece, I always look amazing the second I step out of her chair.
