This Lebanese food truck offers a simple menu. Pretty much the entire menu is based off of Shish-tawook (Lebanese-seasoned chicken) and shawarma (Lebanese-sesaoned steak bits) pita sandwiches and platters. Even the rest of the menu is based off of these two items. And the verdict? The shawarma sandwich was good. I just don't think it was very good, but it was well-prepared. My suggestion would be to find a way to get the tabbouli and cold vegetables placed in the shawarma in a way that it would not chill the pita bread. The thing to get here though seems to be the shawarma fries (fries topped with shawarma meats) - it seems like everyone was getting one of these. My friends love this spot so I decided to call and see if they have GF falafel and they couldn't have been more helpful. Their entire menu is gluten free except the usual suspects: pita and tabbouleh. I ordered the veggie plate and they substituted fattoush for the tabbouleh. Very friendly and understanding while taking my order. The plate was delicious! Best falafel I've had in Austin so far, and the dressing on the salad was fantastic. Hummus also creamy and delicious. Fantastic, no-frills middle eastern food! I usually get the Schwarma (which is made of beef) plate with rice and "double-baba". The meat is incredibly flavorful and the sauce, tomatoes, and rice all mix together in a wondrous rich flavor. The baba is also excellent. This is definitely among the best Schwarma I've ever tasted. For $10 the portion is generous. You can even go the no-carb route and do it with greens instead of rice. The employees have been friendly every time I've gone and the food truck complex is really cool with some other great places there and an outdoor TV playing sports games. read more

Beirut is a food truck. I haven't found too many of those that I actually find I want to try other items on their menu. I've been disappointed before. But not today. This food is well made and well spiced. I'm a big fan of eggplant dip, baba ganoush,. Beirut's is super creamy topped with a true Lebanese spice, I think sumac. That kicked up this simply prepared dish a few notches. Maybe a bit oily, but still very good. Another contender on the vegetable plate is hummus, again topped with z'atar or something like it. It's good hummus. As for the falafel... they were tasty, but seeming over fried so they we quite crispy. Maybe they are supposed to be like that. Dunno. This place is awesome! I work southwest of downtown and wanted falafel on a lunch break, so I looked up this place and drove out past Rudy's to the food trailer park off 360. Their falafel wrap was a very generous portion with fresh pickles and cucumber inside, and it was crisp and not mushy, like others can be. At roughly $4-5, it's a deal compared to Maoz (RIP) or Tom's Tabooley (RIP), or Trader Joe's (meh). I also got an order of fries, which was also a heaping amount (a full styrofoam container) and seasoned deliciously. My only regret was that I had too many to not share, but is that really a bad problem? Will definitely be back and would encourage anyone looking for great portions and wanting their lebanese fix to visit. The trailer park also has plenty of seating and parking and would be a great choice on a beautiful day. If you're getting there going north on 360, take the second entrance (paved parking lot) because the first one will lead you to a dirt road. Recently relocated to the Midway Foodpark, this little truck is a perfect match for the smorgasbord of eateries this park has to offer. From the brightly colored truck to the fulfilling flavors of Lebanon, you shan't be dissapointed in your adventure to the delicious side. Today I enjoyed the Shwarma plate on basmati rice, which comes with two sides (both of which I opted for hummus). The meat is tender and perfectly seasoned, not to mention the supple sauces that keep the dish light and airy. All of this is topped with slices of onion, pickle and chunks of tomato. Now the hummus, you ask? I've had god awful hummus before, the kind that makes you swear off chick peas for weeks. This, thankfully, is not of that caliber. This hummus deserves a medal. It is smooth and creamy yet retains its texture, a perfect compliment to pita and shwarma alike. A light sprinkle of what tastes like smoked paprika and cilantro makes for an overwhelmingly wonderful experience I won't forget soon. Overall, I'd highly recommend this truck to veteran foodies and newly minted taste buds alike. Food trucks invaded Austin Texas long before the country was a established, I don't know if that's true, but I do know the food trucks here are amazing! There's a nice set up Friday through Sunday at the domain, where you'll find Beirut. My wife and I both stopped here while looking for great Middle Eastern places to eat. We didn't even know it was a food truck until we got here! You'll have to trust me when I say the food is really good!
