Really enjoyed our experience at Beijing Hotpot! The service was great and our waitress was so nice and helpful. She went over everything we ordered with us and helped us choose the right spice level. We initially ordered medium, but she warned us that their spice level is hotter than other hotpot restaurants, so we went with mild instead. She also let us know that if the mild wasn't spicy enough, they could always add more spice, which I thought was really nice. They have a very good selection of ingredients, with a good variety of meats and good quality overall. They also have skewers, which was a nice addition. The sauce bar had a pretty good variety, and we were also given a complimentary appetizer, which was a nice surprise. The atmosphere is nice, although it does get a little hot inside. Has a great night out with my friends! The staff offered to put our bags and jackets in a bag to limit the steamy hot pot smell transfer which was thoughtful. Although my friend and I sat on a stool, staff seated us quickly on a rainy Saturday night where all the hot pot spots in flushing had long waits. I did not have any meat but my friends loved all the options. Drinks as well were nice to have along side tofu skins and shrimp paste balls and many exciting items. I always come here for late night hot pots. Usually all hot pot places are closed pretty early in flushing but this place stays open until 4am and they have a great variety of fresh ingredients. The choices they have to make your sauces also vary a great deal which is a deal breaker when eating hot pot. You order through a tablet which makes it nice and easy to add items and drinks to your order while you eat and socialize. Beijing Hotpot is definitely underrated. Not enough people are talking about this place! The wait times at Chongqing Lao Zhao and Haidilao were well over 3 hours, so we decided to come here. The interior takes you back to a historical period in China. The staff was super friendly and very willing to help. The meats and veggies were fresh. The tomato broth was one of the best I've had in flushing. Skewers were also surprisingly very tasty. No complaints. We got to try 5 different items in addition to what comes with the standard meal for 4. This is great for anyone adventurous. It's not the usual hotpot options you are used to from the chains. There are options you can't get most places: i.e. wagyu, quail, frog, liver, duck. I am not adventurous like the rest of my party and enjoyed the fish and shrimp options. You do have to work for your meal but that's the fun part. Our party of 4 ate for ~$300 before tip. Service was great! They even put our coats in a plastic bag so it would not absorb the smell. We dined here as a party of 6 with a reservation, and they initially sat us at an appropriately sized table but then moved us to a table for 4 so we were squished with no space to move (so much so that there was no table room for the food nor room to move your arms and food ended up falling on our laps, getting sauce on our clothing). They told us they had a "large party" arriving yet the initial table stayed unoccupied the entire time, even after we paid. They tried to offer plum tea for moving our table, which we did not want. A undesired tea to be cramped for an hour at a table with 2 young children is a joke. They need to improve their customer service and logical thinking. We all said we would not return. There are so many better options like Hai Di Lao or Shoo Lan that offer much better customer service and appropriately sized tables, and logical thinking. Food was nothing special. DO BETTER. The price is on par with Haidilao, which knocked it down a star for me since I felt that the sauce bar and dessert bar was average. They also charged us $3 each for sauce. Dine like Chinese royalty Finally got to meet up with one of my best friends and that adventure took us all the way out to Flushing After grabbing Shenzhen baos (mini manapuas that's fried crispy on the bottom) and bubble tea, she needed to run off to an event. Before she did, she left us a list of yummy restaurant recommendations. It was the perfect hot pot weather and the wait wasn't too bad. We ordered a tomato and pork based broth along with an assortment of veggies and meats. Everything is ordered on an iPad. They also provide aprons. There's a little snack bar next to the sauce bar. For larger parties, there's a little rotunda that comfortable seats 6-8. Everything came out fairly quickly and the food was so yummy! The tomato broth was sweet, tomato-y, and slightly sour. The pork based broth came with a ton of veggies. We ate until we almost needed to be rolled out, hopped on the train back to Manhattan, and hoped we didn't fall asleep and miss our stop. My group of friends and I put in a reservation for Beijing Hotpot at 7:30pm on a Saturday and the place was packed! It was a perfect day to have hotpot because it was very cold outside. Hotpot restaurants are always packed on weekends! The interior of Beijing Hotpot is very pretty and utilizes traditional Chinese architecture to create cute booths for customers to dine in. We got to sit at a big round table booth for our group that we loved. We did 2 hotpot bases, spicy and non-spicy, and both were equally as delicious. All of the ingredients that we ordered came out in a timely fashion and all tasted very high quality. We particularly enjoyed the beef and the shrimp paste that we ordered for our hot pot. The sauces also came with side dishes like spicy pig ear which we were all a fan of. I believe the sauce was an automatic additional cost which Haidilao also does, and while I am not a fan of it, I understand as the two restaurants are at similar levels. The price was inevitably high for this restaurant being a higher quality experience, but overall, I would recommend coming here for special occasions and celebrations to treat yourself. P.S. I was worried this may not be enough food but it certainly was. I do hate having to buy mushrooms separately but it wouldn't be hotpot without it.
