I spent $85 for a programmed car key for my mother-in-law. It was a back up key in case she locked her keys in the car. Last week she locked her keys in the car took the key made at Bee's Keys out and it didn't work to unlock door or start ignition. So I called and they told me because the key was made more than 90 days ago there's no warranty. On top of that they were rude and unapologetic if they said I'm sorry to hear that I wish we could help but we can't it might've felt better. We placed an order for a Fort Knox with a 50% deposit OVER 1 YEAR AGO and Bee's Keys refuses to provide us a status. We have called repeatedly over the past year and never get a response with any answer of where our safe is. We went in person to the store and they said the owner would call us the next day. Never heard back from them. We call every few days and are getting no where. BUYER BEWARE. They have not offered a refund of our deposit nor have they have acknowledged our repeated attempts for a status. We made a deposit made on 11/1/19 of $1842.95 (proof attached). We were hoping to get this safe since we ordered it to match an existing safe but at this point we consider them keeping our deposit and not providing a product as fraud. read more

Bees keys, particularly Danielle, the receptionist are unreliable liars. I needed a lock rekeyed for a rental property. I spoke with them on a Monday, sent photos, had to have their specialist look at it and order the part. The part arrived yesterday and on the phone with Danielle I asked is it the right one and can we get on the schedule tomorrow. She said it was the right one and to call back tomorrow (today) at 8:00 am and we would get it scheduled. Called today and she says 'let me open the box, its the wrong part.' Which means she lied to my face on the phone yesterday. This lock needed to be changed to on a rental property so now because Bees Keys is awful I have to start over finding a locksmith and do this all while the tenant is in the house instead of when it is vacant. bees Keys is the worst! read more

I was having issues using my key in my front door lock. You would have to wiggle, and waggle, and finally the key would slide into the lock. I called to see if Bee's Keys could help, YES, they said, but it might take two or three hours. Okay, I just need it fixed. So I removed the lock core, took it to Bee's Keys, and seriously, ten minutes later it was fixed! The key slid in and easily opened the lock. They were helpful, friendly and fixed my problem. I was in need of a non-emergency lock repair. Requested several quotes through yelp's service and received four replies. Bee's keys was definitely the most responsive and had great reviews so I agreed to their slightly higher estimate of $140 to repair a lock. Based on the non-urgent need and it having been a Sunday I agreed to have a person come out 4 days later on a Thursday. The person I spoke to was polite and said they would be here between 4 and 6. It is now 6:20 and there is no locksmith or phone call. All is not lost as I was able to find my lock on YouTube and was able to fix it myself. Saved me $140! read more

I have gone to Bee's twice and both times I requested that they make me duplicate keys. The first time was after buying a business nearby. I assumed that there could be an unknown number of copies, and without realizing that my keys were "high-security" or that such a thing existed I announced that I needed my locks re-keyed. They informed me that they had installed the locks and made the only keys that would exist. I located all the keys and walked away without spending any money. The second time I was looking to duplicate a car key with a chip. Somehow Tex was able to plug into my car and get the old key working again. Everyone at Bee's is solid. Tex rules. The service at Bee's Keys is top-notch. They're friendly, helpful, and honest. I'm always amazed at how they are able to copy any key imaginable. Anyone who has ever spent money for a copied key that ended up not working can understand how frustrating this can be. My whole family comes here all the way from Fort Worth to make key copies because it's so incredibly reliable. I last visited Bee's Keys because my car key had broken, AGAIN. Fed up with paying the dealership $100 for a new key, I bought a key online and brought it to BK. While copying the key, my key actually broke their machine. Instead of being annoyed at having to change out the blade, they apologized for the wait (no biggie, as it was only 5 minutes), AND they didn't charge me for making the copy. I highly recommend these guys! We need to keep local places like this in business! Very happy to find a real locksmith that operates from a retail store and doesn't just prey on people that get locked out of their cars/home or just need replacement car keys. These people know locks and know keys....they sell safes and do everything one normally thinks about when needing a locksmith. I bought 2 used portable storage/file cabinets to donate to a school for roaming teachers to use when going classroom to classroom. The only problem was there were 8 locks and we only had a key that worked on 2 of them. The furniture was from a custom shop in Sweden and not easy/cheap to order replacement keys. Bees Keys had me just leave the cabinets with them and while I was out of town for a week they worked on them and were able to rekey all of the locks to match the one key that we had. They did the work for a really fair price and already ordered some extra key blanks that are hard to find expecting that we would want more....and we did. NICE!! I've worked around locksmiths in my profession for years and have done business with other service industry shops of one kind or another. They don't have an all-new shiny shop that doesn't show any signs of work....they clearly work in their profession and from my experience they do a great job. They even helped me unload / load our cabinets from / into my truck. I could not have paid someone to take my cabinets there for me and bring them back for the price they charged me to do all the work. read more

Many companies today will take advantage of a situation when they believe a non- life threatening emergency exists and there is a profit to be made. I recently had a situation that was not life threatening and also not an emergency however it could have been perceived as one. I recently bought a Toyota Tundra and received only 1 key. I decided to not go to the dealership to get some new keys programmed and cut but instead bought two blank keys on ebay and programmed them myself. After getting them programmed I needed to get them cut. I reached out to a the usual suspects of home depot and Lowes but they said no they would only cut keys bought from them so I decided to reach out to some locksmiths in the dfw area. I contacted at least 20 places. I informed them that I needed to get 2 blanks cut to fit my Totota Tundra and that I had an original working key already. Almost all of the ones I reached out to gave me an estimate between $50-$195. I was shocked because this was as easy as cutting a house key. All they had to do was take the original place it in their machine attach the blank slide it back and forth and then do the second. I confirmed again with them that they understood these keys were already programmed. Every single one of them said yes they understood but they said these keys are special because there is a chip so they cost more to cut. Some even said I shouldn't wait too long to get the keys cut because it will cost more if I don't have a backup and need a locksmith at that point. I was baffled one place even said they would have to reprogram it after they cut because cutting the key will make it lose it's programming. Sharks smelling blood in the water was how I saw it. It was disheartening to hear how many locksmiths were willing to rip us off for a simple key cut just because the opportunity was there. I then got the first honest response of all the locksmiths from Bee's keys. They said at most $2 a key if the keys were already pre-programmed. I drove to the store front handed them the key and told them what I was being told. The locksmith told me that's ridiculous. He then took the keys and cut them in less than 2 minutes and then told me "don't worry about it it's on me". Walked out to my truck put the keys in and the truck started up no problem at all! If you want an honest locksmith I highly recommend Bee's keys. I will be recommending only them in the DFW area for all lock and keys moving forward. Be careful with the others around town.
