Let me start off by saying..This restaurant has tons of parking. You go in to order and most of the time you see a worker cleaning(sweeping, wiping down tables) because the place is very neat and tidy. The staff doesn't rush you if you want to step back and read their vast menu and when you order you realize how reasonable the prices are when you feed three people for under twenty bucks. I stopped in last night because Portillos drive thru was a mile long , so I went too Beefys down the street and I ordered a 1/3 pound cheeseburger! I also ordered a pizza slice and my wife ordered a hotdog! The burger blew Portillos away, seriously it was excellent, the pizza slice was good but hell its not a pizza place so I was cool with the slice I ate and it wasn't bad, hotdog just as good if not better than Portillos! I'm just gonna keep this one short and sweet, as it should be. This is a sit down fast food restaurant. Now in terms of quality this will stick out better than a run of the mill fast food joint. Large selection, and more than accomodating for how ever you want your food, or whatever you want to turn your food into. Salads still have that snap in the lettuce and peppers which isn't something you find all the time in these type of eateries. What I also like is not only do they have Green River soda, old school stuff for those that don't know about it, but they also have Sprecher's root beer which is the type of stuff that makes you want to bathe in it. So let me say I'm not giving them more stars because it is what it is. It is a fast food restaurant. Huge delicious gyros. The tzatziki perfectly balanced the meat with the right amount of onions and tomatoes. Best part is the beer is only $2.75 a bottle and that includes Beck's and they have miller on tap. Pitcher for $7.25. Great lunch spot. Quick and friendly service. read more

Not that great. I had the Greek chicken and my wife tried the Italian beef. Both were average at best. If you are going to own a restaurant titled "Beefys" then you better have a darn good Italian beef, and it's not. Also, there were brown pieces of lettuce in my salad, so yeah, who knows how old the lettuce was. I know everyone has different taste buds, but this place should not have 4 stars. The first time I went here I was not impressed. Maybe it was a full moon or something. Everyone deserves a second chance and I am sure glad that I went back. Great Beef, chicken subs, gyros, fries, burgers and more! This is an old favorite, that I haven't been to in years. I went there over the weekend and rediscovered why I enjoyed this place. They have Green River! Soup is good as well. Great place to go for a good quick greasy eat. There are options that are not so greasy. I recommend this place. They also serve beer. read more

i like beefys. normally i would give it 4 stars because it is pretty much like any other well organized fast food joint in chicago, ( even though i find beefys cleaner than most) but they have the best chicken breast sub. i dont think it is on the menu. the salad type of veggies they put on it are amazing with the oil and vinegar dressing. the sandwich is amazing. try it! When I lived in Chicago, I would only allow myself to have a gyro once a year, twice at the most. You can't find gyros in SF the way you can here; you get what's called shwarma--so not a gyro. Due to location logistics, I had a gyro from Beefy's (usually I would indulge in Greektown Gyros) and it satisfied my craving. Can't vouch for the rest of the menu, though my friend Hector has had just about everything on it. read more

I have been a customer of Beefys since the early 1990's. They serve the best Gyros Pita sandwich in the Chicago Metro area. Their other food items are average at best. I cannot give them more than 3 stars due to having only 1 superb item. read more

I went here for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. It is a basic neighborhood fast food place, like those very common to Chicago. Hotdogs, burgers, gyros, and of course, Italian beef. You order and then get your drinks if you got a fountain beverage, then sit down and wait for your number to be called. I got the Italian beef which was pretty good. The giardiniera was good, don't know if it was fresh or not, and the beef had good flavor. The fries were fresh and they have one of those Coke freestyle machines. The atmosphere was simple but welcoming. It was warm inside on this cold day and I felt good sitting anywhere. Will come back. read more

Great neighborhood food. All the food is served hot and fast. Not much for decor but the service is friendly and the servings are plentiful.

They have become quite pricey. I use to go there all the time now I just go for cheesy fries. Just make sure you have them leave the Styrofoam container open otherwise your fries will get soggy read more

I've been frequenting this place since it was 1/4 the size it is now when it had only about four booths. Nothing has changed (except the size of the dining area), the service is impeccable, the food is delicious, the value is phenomenal and even the owner looks just as dreamy as he did 15 years ago when I was a little girl with a big crush. Everything about this place makes me smile from the huge baskets of long ranch fries, the best gyro in town and the patty melt that makes me close my eyes in euphoria to the joyful girls in their red visors that greet everyone like they're part of the gang. I like their pizza slices. You can get a decent slice and a pop for under $4. Im good. With their beef and sausage and the combos too. I need to get a gyro next time. I can take the kids there and they are pretty happy with the hot dogs and hamburgers. Atmosphere is meh but hey most places like this are going to be. They have a few TV's so sports or the news is usually on. What matters is that the place looks clean, the staff is nice, and the food is decent. I will keep on going there read more

I had an Italian beef with cheese and a side of cheese fries. If you get a beef sandwich I would suggest getting it dipped as the beef was rather dry and at some points I thought I was choking. They put a slice of what looked to be provolone on the beef which I had no problem with aside from it making the sandwich even more dry. I however LOVED my cheese fries. The person I was with enjoyed his breaded steak sandwich and paid extra for whatever else they put on it but he said without the added ingredients it was nothing special. My suggestion to them in order to create a better beef sandwich is not to overcook the beef and cheese or let it sit as long as it was, WAY too dry. If your curiosity gets the best of you and you do decide to eat here and try a beef (with cheese) I would suggest telling them to put the cheese they use for the fries on the sandwich, it seemed like it would have tasted so much better and resolved some of the dryness issues. I might go back and try a few other items on their menu but I have no high expectations on taste and presentation and will most likely be disappointed a second time. read more

Love this place!! I recently moved to the area and this was one of the first places I tried. Being a vegetarian, fast food restaurants usually don't have many options to choose from. But beefys makes the best vegetarian sub (cheese sub)! It really is to die for! Also, the baked mostacolli is sooo good! We have also catered from them a couple times and everyone loved all of the food (beef sandwichees, mostacolli and salad). Their menu is pretty extensive for a fast food joint, and everything we have tried so far has been great. I enjoy Beefy's quite a bit. Today, 5-9-16 we were there at around 330 pm, and the food was delicious. I had a humungus, juicy, italian beef, which made my water melt! The beef was tasty and even though it had a few spices (oregano? etc), the meat was well seasoned. Fries & a pop came with my meal; though you could get a small bowl of soup instead of the fries. My beef had so much on it, I had some left overs for my little furry friends back home! Beefy's now has a fancy machine on which you select your drink and the machine fills up your cup, from one single port. Ma Soeur had a Chicago Style hot dog! It looked so delicious, I was drooling over it. I knew I was, because Ma Soeur's pickle kept falling off the bun! We split a huge slice of C&S pizza between the two of us, and by the time we were done, we were so full, there was no room for a desert. Beefy's has a wide selection of deserts in a refrigerated area to the right of the cash register. You might as well leave some space for the goodies, because they seem so irresistible. Today's cashier was very prompt, courteous, patient, and our order was to the T! My mom also loves this place, so next time... we will try a Gyro or a Grilled Chicken Salad! There's lots of room for everyone; the benches are properly spaced apart, and you don't feel claustrophobic, or as if someone is trying to listen to your conversations. read more
