My flight from MDW was cancelled so I had to spend an extra day at a nearby hotel. I used DoorDash to grab some lunch and knew I wanted to have Chicago dogs. I knew nothing about restaurants in the area and picked Mickey's because they had some really great deals going on. I was able to try a bunch of items and they were all delicious. I lucked out when ordering lunch thru DoorDash today. I can't speak to the atmosphere or service as I wasn't there in person. I love the history of this place too. Grossly over charged for 2 hot dog specials, should be 6.99 each 1 fries 3.99 one onion rings5.49 the total was over 36 dollars and if I'm correct tax is 10 percent in my city! When I called I was told not their charges check with uber eats but their bill doesn't reflect this overage, how ever I authorized a 22.percent tip but not of this inflated bill! Uber won't acknowledge me and Mickeys won't acknowledge me! So I paid 60.00 for 4 hot dogs and one onion ring, I think the driver ate my fries!!! read more

I forgot to take a picture of the rib tip dinner ($9.99) but it was fantastic! I only wished I got more than 6 pieces but they were amazingly tender and the sauce was good with a hint of sweet. Was out and about the other day walking around Lake Katherine ... when we came out we had a taste for hot dogs and looked for dog places on YELP ... Mickey's seemed close, so that's how we got here. Now for the most part hot dogs are hot dogs, but some establishments are better than others - and this one was. Very nice hot dogs, just a little snap, and a great taste. All dogs come with fries, and the fries were very good ... not large with a crisp outside and meaty inside, and not small that are crisp in and out - but a nice compromise where the outside is crisp and the inside in nicely done. The fries alone were worth the trip. So our little group of three had three hot dogs (one with cheese) and two fries, all told with two drinks it came to less than $12. The menu is expansive, and has lots of other stuff like ribs, and burgers, and salads, and garlic butter fries, etc. Don't know about all that stuff and would be a bit hesitant. Someone once told me, you go to a hot dog place, you eat hot dogs - that is what they are known for. We would agree here. I'd come back here for hot dogs in a minute. If I want ribs, I will go to a rib place ... but when I want hotdogs, I'll come here - best dogs I've had in a long time. And the cheese on the cheese dog was perfect ... not flavored at all, but fresh and warm. Service was spot on, pandemic safety was just right as everyone had masks and kept six feet apart. There's a lot of options here so, bring the whole family, but bring CASH! They do have an on-site ATM, but I'm sure the fees are crazy. We had 2 chili cheese dogs with fries. I don't even want to give one star I thought I would give this hotdog place a second chance after more than 20 years after receiving the lowest grade hot dog out there, even though they advertise Vienna beef. A complete waste of money. I wouldn't feed the hot dog to a dog. I would've thought that this business would have upgraded themselves to the public by this point and serve beef hotdogs as advertised, not fit for dogs. It's not happening, corners are cut in every way, only possible an animal or a fool would consume this garbage that's called a hotdog.. It's insulting. And then to top it off, the pickle looks as if it was taken out of the trash bag after it was eaten and added to the hotdog it's just a shame that this business has an not upgraded itself in 20 years. Trying to pass off the lowest grade hot dogs as Vienna beef is insulting to the public I'll starve to death before I ever walk in that place again literally wasted money. Stopped in to this place for a bite eat and I was not disappointed one bit. I got the Paul's Gyro plate w/extra meat and for the price, I was able to have two gyro's with enough meat and fries left over for 1 maybe 2 more gyro's. I thought all the Micky's would be all pretty much the same but I just found that some are better than others with this one being better! The thing that makes a difference in a Gyros is the meat naturally, but mostly the Tzatziki Sauce. I live closest to the one in Oak Forest that has a very basic tasting - you might as well just call it cucumber sauce! So I was kind of expecting the same but to my pleasant surprise it was SO good that I think it's now my second favorite place to go for Gyros. The guy behind the counter was really friendly and you can tell he really enjoys his job and likes talking to people and serving them! In the time it takes me to get thru the drive-thru at Oak Forest, I can travel here, eat and get back home before I would pay and get my food at the Oak Forest location and have a better meal too! Went here for the first time and although the food was great the customer service was terrible. The Caucasian male at the register an older male about 40-50 years old was extremely rude . First with an undermining tone tells me we don't take credit cards when he saw it in my hand as if I was a regular customer that knew . Then I went to see if I had enough cash and returned. I asked if he had my order he said yeah but then got mad when I made sure and he didn't so he gave me more attitude when I asked nicely. My little sister goes in for a twist cone after and he in another rude tone says "we don't have chocolate!" Instead of letting her know what they do have. My friend has been telling me about this place for months now and I finally tried it today. SO GOOD! The pulled pork sandwich is EVERYTHING! I had munched on my friends delicious garlic fires so I opted for the coleslaw with it. Coleslaw is very rich and creamy, I ate a few bites and then put it on the pulled pork sandwich.... Yum! Even thinking about this place reminds me of being eight years old and wanting an ice cream cone. I'm 25 years old now and I remember going here after school for ice cream or french fries. This was the only place I'd ever have gyro's when I was a kid (with bbq sauce for some strange reason). As a kid, I remember the employees and the knew me by name. In High School, I worked down the street from here and the employees would come to my store and remember me and say hi. The last time I was here was in 2004 or 2005 and it was just as good and the employees just as friendly and fun. I like their hot dogs (medium sized Vienna beef ones) they don't fall apart, their fries are soft, not hard like some other joint's/places and they have a large menu full of dozens of items, homemade brownies, etc. They have chicken (Greek chicken too) gyros, tamales, many side dishes/appetizers, garlic fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese dogs, chili dogs, ice cream, shakes, desert, beverages, etc. The place is clean, average noise level, reminds me of.Wojo's in Mt. Greenwood and the service is moderately fast, also friendly. Dine in and carry out, you can order ahead of time by calling your order in. They take cash only, no credit or debit, they do not deliver as far as I know. Very good place to grab a quick lunch, one of the last places who sells decent under 5dollar items. Food are cooked to order i personally like the crispy chicken sandwich and the Gyro's. I was here for the first, and last, time on Friday evening, 7/20/2018 at 6:30. Between taking and cashing orders, without washing his hands, and after touching his shirt and face several times, the manager was touching food, and food contact surfaces, such as inside food wraps. The other workers were also handling food with bare hands. At one point, the manager scratched his arm pit then put his hand inside a bag to open it for fries. I was so disgusted that I asked for a refund and left without any food. The manager did not even ask why I changed my mind, or seem to care. Actually, the manager did not seem to care about anything. His personality could best be described as depressing; showing no interest/enthusiasm in his job, or appreciation for the customers. On their FB page, someone complained about the sanitation. Mickey's responded about always receiving at least a 90% on health inspections, which sounds really nice to people who don't understand inspections. First, a health inspection is only a snapshot of the sanitation during that inspection. It is not indicative of the restaurant's regular sanitation practices. Most business' know when an inspection is due and prepare; and certainly follow proper sanitation during the inspection. Illinois food sanitation laws do not allow bare hand contact on ready to eat foods and contact surfaces, such as the insides of to go wraps and containers, especially after touching unsanitary things such as arm pits, even if they are covered by a dirty and sweaty t shirt. Mickey's also defended themselves by stating that their kitchen is open so customers can see how food is prepared, which is exactly how I was able to observe the lack of food safety. I do not think that they understand that some customers may also be certified in food safety sanitation. I can not comment on whether the food was good. However, if you are not in a compromised group susceptible to food borne illness and you do not care about food service sanitation, this might be a good place to grab slightly overpriced fast food. read more
