This is NOT a rest stop. Lol...that's what their billboards say. This is location #2, just as good as the first location. They have 15-16 types of jerkey (mostly beef, some chicken and pork), lots of cheese options and a boatload of hot sauces! What more could you ask for?? The flavors are all the same price, you grab a brown paper bag and fill it to your satisfaction. It's not cheap, but its SO much tastier than the stuff you buy at the gas station. I highly recommend the cherry maple and the black pepper beef jerkey, if I'm forced to choose. But you can't make a mistake here. On our way to Ann Arbour we had to stop here so it wasn't all about cupcakes and do something good for my men. They had tons of barrels full of Jerkey, not just beef and everyone got 2 samples. The prices are decent, $18 a pound which equals the same as in stores just a way better selection and fresher. You can make your own bag and we got pretty much a little piece of each which just about came up to a pound. They are nice and leave you alone since the choices are overwhelming. I first discovered this wonderland of tantalizing taste bud goodness while going on a random drive from Toledo, OH into Michigan and when we saw the sign that read "Beef Jerky Unlimited, We are not a gas station" we knew we had to check this place out and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. We were greeted by this seemingly sweet, friendly, elderly lady who invited us to take our time looking around and informed us that all of their jerky is made on site. Upon finding out we were originally from Pittsburgh, she teased us at how much better her Detroit Red Wings are, but that did not deter us from sampling and buying some of the best jerky anywhere in the world. Beef Jerky, Turkey Jerky, Pork Jerky, Wild Game Jerky, this place has it all and more. They even sell spices and sauces and jerky making kits and so much more. Among my personal favorites are the black pepper jerky, Cajun beef jerky, hot & spicy turkey jerky, and of course the deer jerky! The lady was sad to tell us that they were out of alligator jerky the day we visited, oh darn! I don't think I would have tried it, but maybe. All of the jerky is in barrels and you use the provided tongs to put jerky into brown paper bags and then at the end they weigh it and charge you. While the cost does add up quickly, let me promise you, it is well worth the price you'll pay for what has to be the world's best jerky. We saw signs for this while driving to Saline, MI. I definitely wanted to try it. We took a short road trip there today and everyone bought some! At first we were a bit concerned because the place was deserted, but it seems that the locals don't really need to browse. While we were looking around and contemplating the flavors, several locals came in, went right to their preferred flavors, loaded up, and headed out. The jerky is sold by the pound and it is all the same price. You grab a paper bag and some tongs and fill up on whatever flavors you want. The exotics are behind the counter and sealed up, so you can't just try those. Beef and turkey are in tubs on the main floor and the woman working was happy to explain it all and give us some samples. I am looking forward to eating the rest of the bag. On my way toward Toledo I saw a sign on the highway for Beef Jerky Unlimited. I decided to drop in, and it was worth the short detour. Walk in to barrels of jerky, you simply pick what you want and place it in the paper bag. For about 6 assorted pieces and a pepperoni stick, my bill came out to about 13.77. It is not cheap but the quality is nice. The jerky is tougher than the store brands and generally dryer. Still a neat experience. read more

Had to stop here after seeing a huge billboard on the side of the highway. Very good experience. They ladies there were very helpful and gave a nice sample size. i'm definitely a fan. a huge fan. i love beef jerky, and will eat it until my jaws are sore and begging me to stop! They have a very nice selection of different types of proteins (beef, chicken, turkey, pork), and different flavors, from mild to super spicy to garlicky to smokey-sweet. prices are reasonable given the quality of the cuts. No stringy-ness of the beef, which is a huge drag for me. lady was very nice-- i told her it was my first time to the store, so she gave me 4 samples. basically i tried each protein. i was surprised by how tender the beef was, i assumed the proteins would each have a different texture, but really, not very discernable, except for the pork which felt like an overdone pork chop. i bought 3/4 of a pound to munch on the journey back from ann arbor to bloomington, and snipped the remainders into small bite-sized pieces to store in the freezer. i love it so much i sneak down to eat it frozen, straight from the freezer! if they could offer discounts or some incentive for me to buy a ton of the stuff, then definitely 5 stars heh heh heh. read more

This is one of my husbands favorite stops when we are in the area. I don't eat much meat but tried the jerky that he selected and it was amazing. The cherry maple beef was pretty darn good. I can see why he enjoys it here so much. He also selected a peppered beef flavor, a spicy flavor, and teriyaki flavor. I got some ranch cheese curds. Yummy. I make it a point to stop for jerky every time I'm on my way to electric forest or movement.....I've been to both beef jerky unlimited locations and I feel like the other one in Luna Pier is superior to this one. Went there this past week after seeing signs along the road. We stopped, I was a little concerned as no one was in the store other than the sales associate. By the time I left, there were 5 other people in the store. The last time I had beef jerky like this was when I was driving through Texas - that was the best and I didn't find any other kinds close to this. Until now! I stopped on my way home from a trip to the Toledo Zoo. My son picked out some jerky. I saw they had jerky for dogs. I specifically asked if it was also made here in Michigan as I am very diligent as to what I give my dog. She assured me it was. I gave my dog one piece when we got home. Next morning, he was vomiting and had diarrhea. I took him to the vet, he was treated for salmonella poisoning. He was given iv fluids, anti nausea meds and antibiotics. Had to take him back to vet for more fluids 2 days later. Finally started eating again after 4 days. $700 later. I threw my child's jerky away. As I talked to owner, dog treats are same as human jerky, just smaller pieces. Would never recommend this to anyone. Thank God my Dierks survived. read more

The beef jerky selection is good. I liked the more exotic jerkies, especially the alligator. For beef jerk though, I prefer The Jerky Hut and order from YummyJerky.com, I think their beef and turkey jerky is better but for exotic meat this place can't be beat. read more

My family had to go to ohio on July 20th 2011.we are very big beefjerky fans.so we see the signs to this store cause we go to favelas alot and been to the beef jerky outlet across street which we didn't like at all.we stop in here and the 2 girls working were sweet and helpful.ask if we would like to try samples and we bought alot between my dad and I.a Lil pricey but that's what we like.so I bragged and I went back with some friends on July 28 it was a whole different story!I lady working there had a really crappy attitude didn't help or offer anything.now I'm 45 mins from home with my 4th daughter who very nicely asked the lady if she can please use restroom the lady wouldn't even look at her and said no this ain't a public restroom!my husband ran her across a busy street to gas station where by this time didn't make it.my dad was looking at cheese and she yelled with very snotty attitude that's only for employees!needless to say we will never go back and the money that we were gonna spend went to our fav jerky outlet in Howell called Middletown.were u get treated like a human being.were we live it's same distance either way we go.shame on u lady u r in the capital B list.who do u think u r and if your the owner u don't deserve to own a business read more
