For the life of me I cannot figure out the dominate spice they use in Sytanleys fresh Kielbasa, but I do not like it at all. The way I learned no single spice should dominate a product, but you create a flavor profile by blending. I make great Kielbasa myself, in my experience the main spices are garlic and marjoram. I don't have a clue of what they are using. If you love it, great, I understand and hope they continue to make it for you, just wonder what they are putting in there and, trying not to be harmful at all. read more

A wonderful old school Polish market. And well worth the drive for a weekend trip. The deli was well-stocked and everyone was extremely helpful. All of the dips were homemade. And the 1 butcher kept going out of his way to offer samples it was extremely hospitable to us. Even Saying plenty people come down we even have coolers for you to take everything home. They had frozen duck blood soup and even kielbasa hamburger patties which was really interesting and tasted pretty good. However I will say the pierogies were almost too large lol,, they were gigantic it was like Godzilla met a pasty from the U.P. and had a potato baby!!! It took me awhile to cook them all the way through in the pan. Much larger than srodek's. But more flavorful than Jenny's. Definitely reminded me of many of the Market's growing up in the old neighborhood. Dive down and support a mom and pop shop. They rely on you! We definitely will be back. read more

This is a simple grocery store filled with exquisite offerings. Located in a neighborhood outside of downtown, the area isn't the best. Many houses leading up to the market had graffiti on them. The store stands alone and is not located in a plaza or business district though a local hardware store is across the street. All said, there was no concern of safety and the parking lot beside and behind the building was ample and well maintained. Usual grocery items were available, but the deli and meat market are the highlight of this wonderful store. Polish fresh baked breads were available in a small bakery area. The deli had many great pasta selections, as well as, other items such as homemade sauerkraut and other sides. Potato and pasta salads were excellent. The highlight; however, is the meat and pieroges. Everyone must try the homemade kielbasa' AND the homemade pieroges. I've had none better. A variety of types were purchased and all were superior. In fact, I returned to purchase more to freeze and take home with me after visiting the area and trying them. Additionally the worker behind the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. He described the items, answered questions and provided recommendations. He even explained how to best prepare the food and offered suggestions on condiments. In a time when finding good workers is a challenge, everyone in the deli/meat area were excellent on both visits. On a side note: I also purchased homemade soup from the freezer section. I noted the word "homemade" on a sticker on the freezer door on walking to the checkout. I'm always looking for homemade items and items one can't find elsewhere. I've yet to try the soup but it looked delicious. Several other soups and homemade items were noted in the freezer. read more

I ordered a bunch of stuff: Fully Cooked Smoked Polish, Smoked Fresh Kielbasa, Fully Cooked Kielbasa Grillers, The Fresh Kielbasa - 15 link -10lb Case, Stanleys Market Horseradish (Chrzan) and potato, cheese and sauerkraut pierogi's. Everything was shipped quickly in a well cooled, insulated package. All the meats were great. The pierogi's were HUGE. Four to a one pound pack. And they were delicious. This ain't no Mrs. T pierogi. Holy kielbasa! This is one heck of a place! I used to get my kielbasa at Macoviches in Detroit until they sold the business. My new brother in law recommended this place. They have an AWSOME kielbasa. I have a few tests,1 when traveling home with kielbasa how long does oder remain in car. After removal of kielbasa. 2Can one smell the kielbasa out side of car with it still in it. Of course there is also the taste test. Their product meet all 3 tests with flying colors. Another tip from a passenger. It is the wise cab driver who listens to his fares. It was Christmastime in Toledo and I was wondering what to make. I was tired of going out to a restaurant for the usual dry turkey and no leftovers and really turkey has been done....to death. So I asked what she was having for Christmas. She rattled off many dishes then said Kielbasa. I did a double take. Sausage?? for Christmas?? Was she crazy?? Yes, Sausage, kielbasa to be exact. For Christmas? Absolutly. It was a Toledo thing. No she wasn't crazy. I was if I didn't listen. So I went over to Stanleys a few days before the holiday. I was amazed to see half of Toledo clamoring for kielbasa, and not buying just one pound, but several pounds, like 10 and 15 pounds at a time. I didn't know what to think. So I didn't. I took a number and waited my turn. I bought 5 pounds. Stanleys isnt hard to find. Its on Stickney, not far from the freeway or downtown. You will get great Polish food, and great hand made kielbasa. I'm really glad North Toledo still has this place. It's a great place for meats, and specialty meats. They have a nice produce section where you can find tomatoes, celery, onions and potatoes, parsley, and many more, even things like figs or walnuts. They have some canned and dry goods, frozen foods, and of course a smattering of traditional American junk foods like potato chips, cookies and ice cream. My family's been eating kielbasa for decades. When Dad couldn't make it for us anymore, he tried everything available in Toledo and declared Stanley's to be as good as it gets, and that what we've been eating for decades. I don't live in Toledo any more, but I missed the kielbasa and tried their online service. The packaging was great, very well wrapped with cold packs inside and out. I got it 2 days ago and the family had some last night. Oh, I missed it. Not too salty, just the right seasonings. Perfect. The fresh and smoked kielbasa is as good as ever. The pierogi are huge but have a great flavor. The Landjaegers are so delicious. And I think the price for all of it was excellent.
