We've been customers of Danny's since moving to Monroe in 2006. On a recent 90 degree day my husbands car broke down near Walnut Street, about two blocks from Danny's at Cole Road. He forgot his cell that day and walked the two blocks to Danny's to use their phone to call me to pick him up. It would have been another two miles to walk home on a hot day, and he is in his mid 80's, not a good idea. He walked into the store and asked the woman at the cash register if he could use the phone, he had a break down and needed a ride. "NO" was her response. Surprised, and with disbelief, he walked back to the meat counter where two men were working and said again, "could I use the phone please" ? Both totally ignored him as if they didn't hear!!!!! Very fortunate that a man my husband had worked with came in right then, and offered to take my husband home. What has this world come to that three people in that store refused to let a Senior citizen use the phone when he had a car brake down? This was stunning, shocking, surprising, and really CRUEL too, on a 90 degree day. He would have had to walk the two miles home if that customer had not come in. This experience has put a new light on this local business that we have patronized for years. It's the neighbors here who keep them open, and this is how they treat customers and neighbors! Danny's is a small grocery that has a lot of great meats, spices and deli. Unfortunately, it's not a friendly store to shop unless they know you. The front cashier does not speak to you to say hello or goodbye. I actually hate going there because it's such an unfriendly grocery store. You get better service at the big box stores. Too bad because I'm all for the little businesses. But, the people at Danny's don't seem to care. read more

Their Catering is fabulous. Prime Rib cooked leaving me just enough time to finish off and slice; the cheesy potatoes were a rave; the fruit tray was so detailed and exquisite one diner said it was akin a 5 star restaurant. The only concern, since I'd never done this before was not getting an invoice or being able to leave a deposit. A young clerk wrote my order down on a piece of paper and that was it. Right on time, it was all prepped and brought out to my vehicle. I'd do it again and likely will. read more

I really wanted to rate Danny's higher. I used to come here as a kid and really enjoyed it. They do have a phenomenal deli and meat counter and the associates were beyond helpful at those counters. The front checkouts was a less pleasant experience. Not a hello. Not a "you're total is". Not a "thank you". Or even have a good day. Not a word. There was a group of cashiers standing there just chit chatting (which I get .. it makes the time go by after), but I was made to feel very unwelcome. Apparently if they don't know you then you aren't welcome there. And to be clear it wasn't just the young cashiers that didn't acknowledge or speak to certain customers. There was someone by the registers , I think a manager, making wings and some kind of lamb something , who made certain to speak with all the "regulars." But not a a word to the people he didn't know. Again , I don't expect a full blown conversation, but a simple hello or have a good day, would have sufficed. read more

As I sit in the parking lot at 6:11pm. The doors are locked and closed. The website say they are open till 7pm. I would prefer to shop here. Thank goodness the big box store is open for business. After all, it's a Thursday evening at 6pm. How is anyone supposed to frequent this store that has job during business hours. Ok Meijer here I come read more

It's a typical small local grocery store which is family owned and operated. They are very friendly including the employees. They have a limited selection, higher prices than the big chain stores. Good for a quick trip to a grocery store. I typically go to Danny's for their Meat and Deli department. They are very good butchers. They have a wide variety of meats and cheeses in the departments with good prices. They have soup bones and dog bones you can get back at the meat counter. For some reason, they do not accept the State of Michigan Bridge Card which is unfortunate. They will help you take your groceries out to your vehicle if you need help. Because of some of their higher prices, not accepting the bridge card and minimal fee to use debit or credit card or served a service charge I have to give them 3 stars otherwise I'd be giving them 4 stars. read more

This is a small "mom and pop" store, a bit overpriced but if you hate crowds as much as I do, it's worth paying a little extra just to avoid the crowds you find at places like Meijer and Walmart. However, it's been my experience that the staff is kinda rude. I don't expect the cashier to be my best friend or anything, but they could at least try to be nice. You'd think a small "mom and pop" business like Danny's would try harder to be friendly, especially to customers who are new or don't shop there very often, because that would encourage people to come back more often. But no, when I was there, the cashier was super friendly to the guy in front of me (obviously a regular customer), but blatantly rude to me. Nice, clean, small grocery with a personal attention to detail. The staff seems happy and comfortable and the owner is hands-on. They have a little bit of everything, including some gourmet items, like European cookies and a full butcher counter, so if you'd rather get your meat from someone you know, you might want to check it out. It shares the parking lot with Danny's Custard Stand, which could be dangerous in the summer months as you treat yourself with something creamy and sweet as a reward for going grocery shopping! read more

Good if you need some groceries and do not want to make the trek to Kroger or Walmart (whichever is your poison). I typically go to Danny's for their meats. You just can't go wrong choosing your meats at Danny's! They have the BEST! But they do more than just meats! Danny's cater! I had them do several different kinds of sandwich trays, vegetable trays, fruit trays & cookie trays for god at the Funeral Home. They make these great roll up sandwiches that are complete! I really recommend the Boar's head meats, they are really great & worth the extra cost! Danny's make it even more convenient by offering delivery for a small fee. You can also add chips, pop & don't forget the plates, napkins, cups & plastic ware, they have everything you need! Oh & if you'd rather have somewhat, they have that too, just ask! I love Danny's! What a wonderful store to shop at during this pandemic. They take your grocery order over the phone between 11am - 2pm and then they call me after 2pm so I can get my groceries. Then they bring it out to the car. How great is that. I felt like they really care about their customers health. Unlike Meijers who refused to adapt to the new environment that Covid-19 presents us with. I will be shopping at Danny's often. They obviously understand the need to social distance at this critical time read more
