I was surprised to see they have a meat department that is manned by a butcher/attendant. Not a huge selection, but enough to have a great barbeque. They were well stocked with chips and soda. We stopped in for ice cream, and there was a decent selection of flavors. Service was efficient. They are trying to get people in, out and on their way. A sign on terminals indicates that the card readers are slow, but it wasn't that noticeable. Due to COVID-19 occupancy in the stote is limited. So I went this route for an anniversary cake with the message "Happy Anniversary." When I went to pick up the cake the folks in the bakery went ABOVE and BEYOND the standard call of duty, detailing the cake with several rosettes and green vines! They saw the message and took it upon themselves to make it special. And when they smudged some of the frosting when packaging the cake, they both re-frosted it and gave me a discount for any possible remaining smudges. I won't go anywhere else for cakes. Great price. Moist and delicious. Great service. You can't beat it.

I stopped in on a road trip to grab a healthy meal for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to see the cleanliness and that everything was in its place. If you are in Sandusky for the day or the weekend this is the place to go…read more This newly-renovated Kroger is unlike any I have seen before, and has incorporated elements from Target and Fresh Thyme to make that I really like. Fresh food offerings--excellent. There is a sushi bar and a fresh sandwich/pizza area, along with the usual deli, that provide excellent options for a quick meal, eat in or take away. The seating area is large and clean. The bakery is also strong, and I had a Panera-like cinnamon crunch bagel that was very tasty. If one of your party gets sick or hurt, there is a clinic in the store that seemed very inviting. It would definitely save a ton of hassle to go there rather than trying to find a doctor! With the fresh food, grocery, and bulk food options, easy to stock up on things, and they also have a large clothing section. Strangely, it did not feature much touristy beach wear and the like and seemed to cater to locals more than visitors. But, if you left something at home and need a shirt, etc, this would be a great place to obtain one while not slowing down the family expedition. All I can say is that I wish my neighborhood Kroger was this awesome!
