Becks is an interesting place. We were searching for a casual place to get a steak. It was a bit shocking - I've never been to a "fast food" steakhouse. There was literally a menu board, and you order at the counter. The staff weren't knowledgeable or helpful. One lady was down right rude. I think she might have been "training" a new team member. He was as kind as he could be with her cracking the whip over his shoulder. The menu is fairly limited so you would think they would have gotten our orders correct. But no, they did not. Once I recovered from the shock and they finally provided the food we ordered, it was delicious. We had a party of 8. 7 out of the 8 ordered steaks. The meal comes with one side dish and a salad. The "garden salad" left a lot to be desired but I didn't care because I consider salad to be a filler! It's basically lettuce and couple small slices of mushroom. Who cares, bring on the steak! I ordered the Center Cut Filet, it was cooked to a perfect medium. The baked potato was fluffy and delicious. I gazed around the table, everyone seemed to enjoy their steaks. They reported the steaks were cooked as ordered. 3 out of 8 ordered a shake to satisfy their sweet tooth. They reported the shakes were tasty. Overall, once everyone received what they ordered, it was agreed the steaks, potatoes, veggies and shakes were tasty. Would I go there again? I'm on the fence. My meal was $30.00 - basically an 8 oz filet and a baked potato. Was it cooked perfectly, yes; however, I have a difficult time reconciling the price with the "fast food" ambiance and incompetent staff. I've been eating at Forest Lane location now off and on since it opened. The food is definitely fresh, and I do think they have high quality ingredients. I've usually gotten the Kirby Salad w-chicken and no bacon or a chicken sandwich. After not visiting in many months, I came in for lunch. The prices are now at a level where I can no longer justify eating here. I ordered a regular grilled chicken sandwich (lettuce, tomato, chicken) and added Swiss cheese. Since sides cost extra, I added an order of fries and a fountain soda. My total for a chicken sandwich, fries and Diet Coke was over 24 dollars! To compound this, their new POS system asks for a tip on top of the already outrageous prices. The ambience here is counter service and nothing particularly upscale about the inside of the restaurant - for example - the booth I sat in had tears in the seat - yet they charge the prices of somewhere more upscale and now want tips for counter service. Again, food is good, but be aware going in that you'll be spending as much as you would at a sit down restaurant with a waitstaff. read more

We have ordered Beck's Prime many times through GrubHub, picked up drive-thru, and eaten in the restaurant, but I have never been so disappointed as I was last night when I ordered the Mediterranean Salad for GrubHub delivery. There was no dressing and minimal chicken on top, but the worst part of all is that I bit down on an olive pit. I called the restaurant and talked to the manager, who quickly said that there were no pits in the salad because the olives were sliced in half. As he told me this, I kept looking at the pit. When I told him that and offered to bring it by the restaurant to show him, he continued to argue with me that there were no pits in their salads. Thanks, manager, for calling me a liar. Besides having a lousy meal, I was obviously trying to cheat the restaurant. Terrible! I will never eat there again. By all means, go somewhere else! read more

The diversity of this menu is enough for me to keep coming back. Love little places like this. I thought my burger was very good. Not really seasoned much, but a good 80-20 mix and cooked perfectly. Never have had any luck with Prime Burger in Preston Forest. The burgers are expensive but lousy. Had to return one tonight due to it's inedible state. They had no interest in their bad product, just here's an equally bad burger and a gift card. Stay away from this place if you're after a good burger. read more

Beck's has been our favorite burger place in Dallas for many years. The last few visits we have seen the prices rise but have continued to patronize them. Our support ended today. We went in to get Prime sauce as we have bought it in the past. The "manager" was rude and insisted they did not sell it. He did not say "they no longer sold it" but insisted they had never. We know this to be incorrect as we have bought it several times. if that were not enough, we ordered fries and a cheeseburger, Total 23 dollars is no longer worth it - especially when we opened it and there was not any cheese. Makes me sad that the owner only replies to positive reviews. I would like for him to be concerned about all his customers. read more

I loved it here for many reasons. First, you order at the counter instead of having someone that takes your order. Service is quicker this way because they give you a number. The guy recommended the Bill's Burger, so I ordered it without the bun. I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries. Service was so quick, it was ready in less than 10 minutes or so. My food came out HOT and tasted really fresh. They cook their burger medium, so if you prefer something different tell them. The burger came with cheddar cheese, bacon, grilled onions and lettuce, it was REALLY GOOD. Sweet potatoes are a must here as well, they are seasoned perfect in my opinion. The prices are a little pricey, but the service and the quality of the food made it worth it. There is plenty of room to sit inside, and they even have a patio that seems dog friendly. read more

If money is no object, then this is a four star burger joint. While the food is good here, Its a tad expensive. Maybe it's the quality of the food. Maybe it's just inflation. Maybe it's what the market will bear. We had two hickory burgers, one side of fries, one side salad, water. Two meals without drinks was over $27.00. Before adding a tip. It's clean, comfortable and they have great service. Kind of a neighborhood vibe. I saw mostly middle aged upper middle class folks dining. Some burgers, some steaks. IMO it's too casual for a $30 steak dinner where you place your order at a counter. But that was happening. It's kind of like a burger joint for people who are not worried about what things cost. The service is top notch and the burgers are delicious!! This establishment is a mix of a sit down Resturant and a fast food counter. I walked in a bit confused, but quickly walked up to the counter ordered myself a bud light, bacon hamburger, with a side of fries - they then handed me a number and moseyed my way into a booth. We did the drive-thru tonight and I was so looking forward to the California Chicken sandwich even though is was going to be over $13 for sandwich only no side or fries. Sadly something was lost in translation on their loudspeaker and I ended up with a chicken sandwich not the California chicken sandwich. I would not of bothered posting but the chicken breast was small, most likely about 4 ounces. It was good but small actually very small. If you go and want the California chicken sandwich at the drive-thru, you should repeat it twice and make sure they repeat it twice and then ask them to make sure the breast is a decent size. On the rare occasion that I want a burger my husband picks a new burger joint for us to try, Today was Becks. We absolutely LOVED it! The food is a little pricey but well worth it. We both got a burger combo and weren't disappointed. I asked for a extra pickles and they literally gave me a cup FULL of pickles... it was amazing. They didn't hold back with the fries, even brought us an extra basket! Which worked out because they were delicious! The staff is extremely friendly and came by several times to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. Heard a lot about this place. We placed an order to pick up and when we got home everything was COLD, one of the burgers was so greasy there was liquid in the burger container making the bottom bun soaked and unable to eat and it was tossed in the trash. Stopped by for lunch and man was it delicious! I got the Ahi Tuna sandwich seared to perfection and the Parmesan Truffle Fries. The cucumber slices and purple onion complimented the tuna very well. Ok so, this place smells super good when your passing by! it's a good place very clean and very nice people. The only problem I had was the meat. To me it was not seasoned very well. I had gotten the bacon cheeseburger regular with what it comes with and don't get me wrong it's a huge burger with fries! I wanted it to taste better but to me it was missing a key ingredient that makes a burger! A friend got the hickory cheeseburger and had the same feeling about the seasoning. The smokey Mesquite they cook them over just takes them over the top and they are always perfectly prepared Their handcut fries are a perfect accompaniment to the burgers, today I'm taking it up a notch and trying the Parmesan Truffle Fries! I ate here several years back and was in the neighborhood with my boss and pulled in. He is crazy for chargrilled hamburgers and I said here's where we gotta go. It' s better than I remembered and I'll just get to the brass tacks: this is the best chargrilled burger in town. I wish we had as many as they have in Houston. It's better than Goffs or Wingfields. I give it a slight edge over Kenny's. The beef is a perfect grind and stays together in the grill ; it is juicy and was a perfect medium. It's carries a solid but not overpowering flavor of the 1000 degree mesquite coals it is grilled over. It is served on a potato roll which holds up to the burger; I do not like sweet brioche buns for burgers; and a Mrs Bairds bun, perfect for a flattop burger, would disintegrate with these. My bubba burger was excellent with grated cheddar, their Prime sauce, and onions and tomato. Perfection. Boss got a custom burger he proclaimed one of the best he's had anywhere. Fries were perfectly homemade and crispy. I got queso and chips; the order was bigger than we needed and got rich but it was excellent, and the chips and homemade salsa was very good. Beck's Prime is one of my go-to spots for carryout. I have never eaten inside or even been inside (they have a drive-through) so can not comment on that. The service is always amazing, the food ready timely and our orders have always been correct. I recently placed on online order and did not realize it was scheduled for pickup the next day. I arrived right before they closed and, although the error was mine, they made our dinner and gave me a free drink while I waited. As for the food, I have had a chance to sample quite a bit on the menu including the ribeye, the burger, the chicken sandwich, the chili, the chicken potato thingy, the prime rib sandwich, the french fries and just about each flavor of milkshake. All have really been phenomenal with the exception of the french fries, which were a little soggy but I kind of blame myself for ordering french fries to go. read more

Where else in Dallas can you get a $30 steak from a drive-thru? Or an $8 burger, so it's not all high-end, but rather a perfect mix. Becks is an unusual but workable mix: it is counter-service casual, but a menu like a Houston's or a Texas Land & Cattle. Burgers and fries abound, but there's also an Ahi Tuna and 8oz Filet dinner in the $25-$30 range. To further blend the sit-down and fast casual motif, Becks also has full wine bottles and beer. I had the Ahi Tuna sandwich and loved it. However, if you try it, ask for the wasabi mayo on the side, because I thought it was slathered a bit heavy and over-powered the mild tuna after a few bites. The tuna was absolutely sushi grade, and grilled ever-so-slightly that the insides were still completely ruby red and barely warm, with only a millimeter or two of salty grill marks around the outside (ie, if you don't eat sushi, don't get this sammy). The sandwich is topped, along with the mayo, dressed with tomato, purple onion and cucumbers. The bun seemed freshly-baked, sweet and yellow sponge bread.
