I needed a trim and conditioning treatment. The stylist then offered to blow dry my hair. I only do that 2 times a year. She assured me that she could do it without heat damage so I agreed. I made my appointment and was told one price, but when it was time to pay, the price was different. The conditioning treatment was really nice on the scalp. My scalp felt clean and revitalized. My only problem was she was ripping my hair out. She was starting from the middle of my hair or the top instead of the bottom. It's super curly so she was fighting it instead of working with it. Then she put me in a contraption for a steam treatment. I was kind of iffy of putting any heat before the blow dry, but went along with it. After the steam treatment she rinsed me and then put me back in her chair to blow dry. Again with the ripping out of my hair. By the time she was done it was huge and puffy and tangled all over again. Then came the trim. EVERYONE in my family prides themselves on their mane. My hair was really long. In a high pony it was still past my shoulders flat ironed, but I had split ends. I knew this. I figured an inch, least likely two at most I would lose just based on what she was showing me. I lost about 4 inches. And it wasn't all even. Then the price went up. I went from one price to a 25$ difference in price even though there was nothing added on or not previously discussed. Two weeks later I washed and detangled my hair. I was so disappointed and defeated to find out I had heat damage, my hair was uneven, and I actually have tufts of my hair missing in spots like it's been yanked out. I had to just cut it all off. I literally did a second big chop. There was no way to fix it or ever wear it down again. If you have natural hair I honestly cannot suggest my stylist. It was my first and last time visiting this establishment. I think it's safe to say I'll stick to my sisters and cousins doing my hair for free with better results.

To me that is false advertising. I was in regular communication with the braider, let her know I was a little late, when I was in line at the beauty supply store and that I would be there in less than 5 minutes. As I am pulling into the parking lot I get a text message saying that she has to go. I text her right back telling her I was there and walking to to the door. No response. I walk in and the owner said she waited all day for you! Which was not true. I asked if she could contact the woman and she said she's gone. There was no offer to call another braided or anything to help me. After a couple of minutes I walked out to my call and the chick who was supposed to do my hair had been sitting in the car next to me the whole effing time! I then recalled how this shop was so familiar to me and that's when it hit me! I had been here in the past (10+ years) and received similar crappy customer service. The owner is borderline rude, blasé, unprofessional and has no semblance of what customer service is. My guess is that she has only been able to stay open this long because of her location, her friends and family and what regulars she has on top of collecting booth rent from other braiders.

With the hundreds of braiders I found on IG, she was one of the few that I contacted that could do the halo braid style I was looking for at the time for a wedding I was in. But she actually does it ALL! She was even able to accommodate me on a day that most hairstylists tend to take off and I was soooo thankful. Not only did she do an amazing job, but she was so sweet and professional. Her studio is so cute and comfortable. She really knew what she was doing and surpassed all my expectations.
