Despite being packed in fairly closely, the noise level was very manageable when it came to regular conversations. We opted for the wine pairing and highly recommend it - very fairly priced and some great choices. It has made it to my list of top favorite restaurants in Seattle. They have a long communal table for outdoor seating on nice days, or a cozy, intimate atmosphere inside. I was told the menu changes frequently, but everything I've tried has been both incredibly flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. They also make it easy to accommodate gluten allergies. I've been twice now, and both times I've been too full for dessert by the end, so I'll definitely have to go back and finally experience that part of the menu. Such a special spot and absolutely deserving of its high rating!

Fast forward to a year later and my bride surprised me on my birthday yesterday with an eagerly awaited indulgence. ELDR did not disappoint! The space was cozy, the staff was exactly what I wanted concerning passion and someone who you could share a drink with and talk industry for hours. I wish we would have done better documenting our selection but that just means we'll have to go back and eat our way through the menu! I wish I would have asked if the bread service had an half order. It's a great value and the charred Onion Compound butter was next level. We shared everything as I imagine the small menu was design to do and the potatoes were heavenly. I loved the grilled cabbage dish (undocumented) and the braised pork short ribs with the Meyer lemon bbq sauce was an amazing find. The seasonality is spot on and I hope the menu follows the weather. I can't wait to see what they do for hearty cold weather at the end of the year if that's how the chef's want to proceed.

That was a plus for me because I always loved the charred flavors Samara produced. We came as a group of six and tried a good portion of the menu. We first asked what was included in the tasting menu and were told it would be whatever the chef felt like making. When we asked what the chef felt like making that day, we still could not get an answer, which was a little strange. We ultimately decided to order à la carte. We had the albacore crudo and grilled squid, along with the charred potatoes, gem lettuce, and charred gai lan and mushrooms. For the larger dishes, we ordered the baked crab, duck confit baguette, steak for two, and pork chop. The amount of food was enough for all six of us, and the portion sizes were generally good, especially for the entrées. The steak was nicely sliced and cooked medium rare. The duck was slightly overcooked, but still delicious. The baked crab was somewhat like a rich mac and cheese topped with crab, although the portion felt a little small. It is difficult not to compare eldr with Samara because they share the same space and cooking equipment, even though I understand that they are completely different restaurants with different menus. Samara's menu was simpler and more vegetable-forward, and I felt it made stronger use of the charcoal grill and smoky, charred flavors. I would have liked to experience more of that at eldr as well. A heads up - A 22% service charge was automatically added to the bill, and the overall meal was on the pricier side. Still, the food was enjoyable, the portions worked well for sharing, and the space continues to have a lot of character.

All in all, decent experience with a slightly hefty price tag in a steakhouse

Started with the Parker rolls and while I'm GF, kids and husband raved about these. Moved on to 1/2 dozen Hama Hama oysters (always perfect) and the wedge salad. The wedge was great with little gems and green goddess dressing was super bright snd herbaceous. Service was a bit slow and they brought our side of frites way before the steaks were ready so we had to order another serving to ensure we had them with our main dishes. They tried bringing the second round before that happened and I had to ask them to hold them until the steaks were ready. They were happy and lovely with the request but the pacing was a bit off IMHO. My family of four ordered 2 filet mignons, 1 burger and the bavette with au poivre sauce. That burger may be the best burger in the city - one of the best I've ever had. It's almost a smash burger and the Comte cheese is PERFECT alongside it. The steaks were perfectly cooked as well, delicious. Ended this birthday celebration with two desserts - chocolate mousse and banana pudding. The later was the star - we aren't even huge banana fans and we loved it. Service was excellent and friendly despite the pacing being a bit off and we finished our entire meal after 2 hours. My daughter was happy and we left with full and happy bellies. My husband and I want to come back sans kids and each order a burger and some oysters at the bar. Date night!

The service was standout from the host to our server, everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. I love the meaning behind the restaurant and the all of the dog doodles sprinkled through the space. As a dog parent myself I thought it was a sweet sentimental touch that added to my experience. I didn't take any photos of my food but we ordered: Parker House rolls, oysters, salad, chicken pate, kale gratin, shallot tatin, and onglet. Out of these my standouts are probably the Parker House rolls and shallot tatin! The rolls speak for themselves, but I am obsessed with the shallot tatin! It's not always something you see and quite delicious. Between the fluffy pastry, caramelized shallots, and crème fraiche it was perfectly balanced and I would come back just for this and a glass of wine. We had a great meal and every dish was executed perfectly. While it does lean a bit on the pricier side for the overall experience, it's a solid choice if you're looking for a dependable, classic meal. If you prefer familiar, comforting dishes done right over highly adventurous menus, you'll likely really enjoy it here.

This was our first visit and our server helped us navigate the menu with a few suggestions. She suggested 3-4 dishes to share between the two of us, and that was very good advice. We began with fried brussel sprouts (they were tasty, and came in a big bowl to make sure we weren't left hungry) and the grilled artichoke. I hadn't had artichoke since I was a kid, and our server was very kind in giving me a little refresher on how to eat the artichoke. Alone it was good, but dipped into the chimichurri emulation took it to a whole other level. We held onto the leftover emulation as a dipping sauce once our steak frites arrived. We went with the steak frites and beef cheeks for our main dishes. The medium steak was perfectly cooked, fries were crispy and tasty (even more so when dipped into the emulation), and the beef cheeks needed nothing more than a fork to split into the right size mouthful. When we sat down, we shared that my wife has a dairy sensitivity and the server paused for a moment because most of the dishes are typically cooked in butter. After checking with the chef, we learned that the chef said it was no problem to replace the butter with oil. This is definitely on our "let's come back here when we're in the mood for a more upscale date night" list!
