When they delivered my order before I could put my wallet in my pocket the order was ready. Not ready for human consumption though. What America doesn't need is another chain restaurant serving pre cooked food kept on a warming shelf and the same with the fries If you want a picture look in the trash for a half eaten meal And that bun was way too big for the burger.BBQ sauce couldn't get it to a level of being edible. So much for me thinking I found an alternative to pizza and chicken places. They should be embarrassed to serve something of such low quality as compared to the brisket

The portions for the meats were very big. My husband got ranch beans and sweet potato fries for his sides. While the sides were small for both of us, the sweet potato fries were for a family of 4... HUGE portion. He got at least 2 meals out of it. My sides were the Mac and Cheese which was very cheesy and delicious as well as the tomato cucumber salad. I love a good cucumber salad. Like I said before, those sides were very small. I wish I could have just had a plate of sides. The pickles they give you were also very delicious. I also don't like cornbread which came with our orders and theirs was actually sweet and moist. But like I said, as a person who really does not care for BBQ, a plate of sides would be amazing. We also got the 'Jalapeno Honey' wings which were a good size, but I didn't taste much jalapeno or honey for that matter. They were just kind of mild. My husband loved his meal but he does prefer Big Ed's BBQ in Matawan. Our whole meal was $80 which is quite a lot for no waiter service, just counter. The food was very quick and the service in general was okay. We probably would not be back, but it is worth it to check it out. They had a steady flow of customers throughout the time we were eating there.

Very much worth the wait, and they were so friendly. So delicious the entire wedding party and guests went back for seconds, and felt completely satisfied. The only gripe I have is that I'm not local to the east coast, so I'm limited to only possibly having when I'm visiting! Boo! Meat Line Up: -Pork ribs: literally falling off the bone and delicious! -Chicken: so moist and the chicken skin was crispy. -Homemade Sausage: absolutely divine and could tell it was made with love and care. -Two types of brisket: I've had my share of brisket, and I am not easily impressed. I am a fan of the fattier cut, and IT WAS SO DELICIOUS IT REQUIRES ALL CAPS! Very moist and can tell it was cooked with care. Sides: -Asiago, cheddar and peppercorn Mac and Cheese: This was by far the winner of the dinner for me! The cheese combination was scrumptious and required a second trip to the food table! -Red bliss potato salad: amazing! Can't go wrong with a potato salad and this one had a great slight tang to it. -Baked Beans: a classic and they have a good recipe! -Cornbread: so moist and amazing! -Homemade Pickled Onion: I personally have a onion intolerance, but a friend said they were absolutely amazing! Perfect vinegar flavor and complimented the food. Sauces: -Sweet BBQ sauce: delicious and perfect on the ribs and brisket. -Golden Mustard Sauce: try with the homemade sausage! -Vinegar Pepper Base: the perfect addition to the chicken. It's Black History Month and although I like to support black-owned businesses all year long, I…read moreespecially make a point to support these businesses during this month. This brings me to Dootsie's Kitchen. My aunt frequents this spot and actually told my mom and I about it last year, but we just never got the chance to check it out. I happened to be in South Brunswick for work and would have to pass by this restaurant getting home if I took the back roads, so I used this as my opportunity to check them out. When I arrived into the restaurant, I was a little confused on how to order at first. However, a guy that I'm assuming is the owner and/or manager came out from the back and asked if I was picking up or placing an order. I told him I would like to place an order but needed a menu. He pointed me to the other side of the counter where the menu is posted. They also have a kiosk ordering system that allows you to place and pay for your order. I ended up ordering two fried whiting platters, one for myself and one for my mom. They make the food fresh after you order, so there was a bit of a wait. I was even asked if I would like my fish fried hard. I said yes, but not too hard. I got my food to go and ate at home. I enjoyed my food. The fish filets were small, but there were at least five pieces in my platter. I requested mac n cheese and cabbage for one platter and collard greens and yams for the other platter. Only problem I had is that I didn't receive cabbage and got collard greens instead. I still enjoyed the greens. My mom thought the greens were too spicy. Personally, I really enjoyed them. The mac n cheese was that real southern mac n cheese. It tasted pretty similar to my mom's mac n cheese. I asked my mom if she liked her food. She said it was "okay" but didn't leave anything behind, so I take that as a good sign. The owner/manager was nice. He kept me updated on the status of my order. When he was bagging up my food, he asked me if it was my first time there and I told him that it was. He asked how I heard about them and I told him. He really seems to care about his business and is very appreciative of those who come to support. The restaurant is not large, but they do have some seating areas if you'd like to dine in. While I was waiting for my food, there was a large group having lunch, approximately 10-12 people. They all seemed to enjoy their food and kept giving compliments as they were heading out. I'm glad I got the chance to check out Dootsie's Kitchen and support a local, black-owned business.
