I've driven by the Bearded One a countless number of times. We finally decided to stop and pick up a to go order. We ordered a platter, which consisted of Pulled Chicken, Pulled Pork, Baked Beans and Mac & Cheese. Everything was good, except the Mac & Cheese. There was practically no cheese and the pasta was drive. It's literally located on the side of Route 33 and the food is prepared and served out of a truck. There are some outdoor picnic tables, but everyone was taking their food to go. It may be a nice place to sit in warmer weather, but you are on the road side. First off.... I went here alone. Probably a mistake because I am that girl who wants to try it all and doesn't mind sharing. Here's what I got: 6 house smoked wings 2 meat combo platter. I chose ribs and brisket for the meats and beans and Mac and cheese for the sides. Total $ 34.31 The smoked wings were very flavorful. A little salty and VERY crunchy. The smokiness didn't overwhelm the flavor of the wings. I would definitely try these again The ribs were so extremely fall off the bone tender. There isn't one negative thing I can say about them. As far as the brisket goes, I got some charred ends which I was hoping for as well and some hefty slices. Again, tender and mouthwatering. The beans... they were a little too soupy for my liking but that did not distract from them being packed full of flavor. There was some heat to them but nothing overwhelming along with, some bacon and meat throughout and some jalapeño. The Mac & cheese... this was probably the most unexpected surprise out of all of the meal. A little smoky, extreme cheese flavor and the Mac was a tiny bit chewy. Honestly??? Better than I could ever make from scratch and possibly the best I've ever had. Perfection at best. Everything here is made on premises from the coleslaw, mac & cheese, and beans to the meats. The staff was helpful in my decisions on what to get. There's also a place outback to sit down and eat, which is really clean and cute. We had a pint of brisket, a pint of mac and cheese, a full rack of ribs and an order of the brisket loaded fries. The brisket was good. In truth, I can't say much more - if you're there, order it. I'm not a huge brisket person. It was, for me, a solid 7 brisket. I think, for me, one of the things I didn't like was how it's served - instead of being laid out, it's served in a pint container. it was probably the heaviest pint I've ever felt - you definitely get good value for money. But crammed into the pint container didn't do a lot for me. DEFINITELY freshly cooked, hot, juicy, moist. But...brisket. The fries were very good. Freshly fried. Hot - really hot. Excellently seasoned. you will not be disappointed. 7.75 on the fries. Things went up dramatically from there. The Mac and cheese is simply outstanding. Not overcooked and mushy, not overly sauced and soupy. Th spot is an hour from my house and I might drive there just for the Mac and cheese. 9.0 on the Mac. But the absolute star of the show is without question the ribs. People who have cooked ribs commercially know it's a pain - they're hard to hold, and will dry out fast. Really easy to over cook. These ribs are, simply put, the best commercial ribs I've ever had. Theyre MASSIVE - Ridiculously good value for money - juicy, tender, hot, great flavor. I would have WALKED to their spot just for a lottery ticket to have a chance at a rack of these ribs. easy, easy 10. overall, I'd call it an 8.5. easily worth a visit. read more

Came here today on the way back from Marlboro. I ordered a double meat platter with 2 sides. Very affordable and worth it for the price. The workers were extremely kind. OMG, they were amazing! 8 wings for $12.50 may seem costly. But they were totally worth it. I got the 1 meat platter (pulled pork), cole slaw, and baked beans. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich. It was huge, she couldn't finish it. Baked beans are a bit spicy but not overly spicy. With a 10% tip, it was $59.95. The only downside I if you're eating in the back, outdoor seating area. Since it's on route 33, you can expect some road noise. read more

It's a quaint little road stop and it looks like it could be a great smoke and barbecue location so as a barbecue connoisseur myself, I ordered brisket and mac & cheese. The brisket came with barbecue sauce on the side. The brisket was in a separate container and was oily and had barely any smoke flavor. The barbecue sauce had good flavor, but was a tad too sweet. Onto the mac & cheese, to call what I was given mac & cheese is an insult to both macaroni, and cheese as the macaroni was dry and the cheese was nonexistent. The price for this memorably bad meal was $21. Lesson learned check reviews before stopping at a place that I drive by all the time do yourself a favor. I don't have any pictures as I ordered lunch for my workers, but I have to say that this place has the best BBQ around in the Central/South Jersey area. The items that were gotten were brisket tacos, brisket sandwich, brisket platter, pulled chicken tacos, pulled pork quesadillas, sriracha muss Ming's and apple wings. The food was AMAZING. brisket was smoked to perfection, soft, juicy and the fat melted in your mouth. Did not have one complaint. Well worth the money you are going to pay for the food and the service and the atmosphere of the place is great too if you were to stay and eat. I have recently moved to NJ and have been looking for a BBQ place. Missions BBQ falls severely short of my expectations. I have been driving by for a few months and thought I would stop today to sample the food. I ordered the two meat platter. The wood smell is great and alluring but the flavor is bland. From the taste it would seem that the ribs are boiled. The ribs were not very well seasoned and had no smoke flavor. The mac-n-cheese was just as bad as was the slaw. I am of the opinion that NJ is not a BBQ state like what I find in Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, or Charlotte, NC. Very unlikely I will patronize this establishment again. read more

Little place on the side of the road. I've had brisket at more than a few places in Texas and California and this is well in the upper half of those. The Fried Chicken Wings were unique. The meat had a good amount of smoke but the skin was crispy and crunchy which made the wings a whole new experience. The beans were good with a little bacon and the Mac-n-cheese was very good and different because the cheese was stringy, like maybe Parmesan would do. The barbecue sauce was really tasty and well spiced with a good amount of heat. In fact, I think we'll stop by for a couple of bottles to take home. Try it, you'll like it! read more

I had their BBQ on a number of occasions. For local BBQ it is good. ( However if you have had brisket in Texas it could be better. Portions are nice sized, priced right. Their ribs are too soft for my taste. I like dry rub ribs without sauce, but this is not Memphis so they are good for local style. The owner tries to put out a good product, and the does a good job. In essence I will keep eating there. No dining room has some outdoor tables, but it gets a bit cold for outdoor eating. Fortunately I live close by so I can eat it at home read more

So let me tell you about what happened.... I was driving, talking to a friend when I saw cars stopped on the other side of the highway. I saw the food truck, and pulled an immediate u-turn. Every once in a while, I attempt to convince myself that maybe I could be vegan and give up meat. The Bearded One BBQ shut that sh*t down immediately. So, here's how it went down. Took a quick glance at the menu, ordered a pulled chicken sandwich, stepped back, and within a minute I heard "pulled chicken sandwich". With my face mask on I attempted to mouth "oh, is that me...." the cashier nodded, and I took my sandwich. Quite concerned that my food was just microwaved.... Within seconds my car was filled with an aroma, for a moment I picked up the container, glanced at what looked like a mess waiting to happened, and returned my sandwich back to the passenger seat. Choosing to be a responsible motorist.... 90 seconds later, I look down and magically the sandwich is back on my lap, and with surgical precision I've devoured this feast within what I counted as 8 bites, and possibly the most delicious meal I have ever eaten. 8 bites, within 2 miles. I risked my life, and the lives of the other motorist on the road. I then risked my life a second time as I licked the sauce off my finger, during a time of covid. DISCLAIMER: at this point I feel it important to share, that I hadn't eaten anything in the last 19 hours, and maybe I was just really hungry. Guess, I'll have to go back and find out if it's this good all the time.
