I've tried this place a few times. The service and the staff is great however the food not so much. Overloaded with rice and lettuce. The service is also really good as the staff are friendly and are good with listening when telling them what you want in your burrito or whatever you can get toppings in. It's been a while since we came here and reviewed this place. We decided to come back here and give it a try again. This place has changed since we were last here. Back then, there were booths to sit in. Now, it seems like it's mostly takeout and just a few small tables to sit in. The booths are all gone. Must be a change in ownership. We ordered the following: Flautas- I LOVED this. This was the crunchiest we've ever had and it spoiled me. I will now be comparing this to others, in the future. Chicharrone tacos- this was delicious as well. The chicharrones were nice and crispy. Hubs appreciate that they didn't skimp on the tortillas and doubled it, instead. We have going to TacoRito for years now. This is more of a take out place for us but you can also sit in the restaurant. There are a few seats available. The staff is always nice. The food is great!! Casual taco place located at Hightstown, NJ We dined here Sunday around 2pm. There was a no wait. We ordered fish taco and steak taco street style. Each dish came with three tacos with soft corn tortillas. Both of tacos were tasty but I liked street style better. There was more flavor since steak was sauteed with cabbage and jalapenos. Stopped by here for dinner starving after a soccer tournament. I built my own burrito but wish I tried something else. I had asked for spicy rice in my burrito but the quantity of it was very overpowering. I got chicken on it and it was shredded and didn't taste that flavorfull. The guacomole was decent but could have used a bit of salt. My friend very much enjoyed his vegetarian tacos so perhaps tacos are the go-to here. read more

We were in Hightstown for the new brewery, and we needed food afterwards. The tavern across the street was way too busy, so we tried out this taco place. It turns out it was actually pretty good. They have inside seating, but with the current situation they also had some outside seating in the alleyway. Lots of people were walking by, so there was people watching. They make you order on touchscreens. I got stuck behind two people who did not know how to use the touchscreens, so that was a little annoying. Maybe the staff can assist people who have trouble with technology or just take orders verbally from people who don't want to use the touchscreen. I, however, found it relatively easy to use and efficient. The staff were nice otherwise and were quick to get my food prepared. I wouldn't call it a traditional Mexican restaurant. They had a make your own burrito option, which reminded me a little of the chain restaurant chipotle. That's what I actually ordered, and I liked it. It's better than Chipotle lol. Everything tasted flavorful. They also have complete Mexican entrees on the menu. It's good for quicker food that's prepared better. The prices were actually pretty low, too. I got delivery so I don't know if that was what the issue was maybe it's a type of place you need to eat inside. The empanadas were very basic not much flavor. But the quesadillas were super spicy which I couldn't even eat and enjoy I had to throw them away. I also asked for guacamole on the side and pay for it and it was left out of the order. read more

Came here with a group of 7. Pretty small place but luckily found tables next to each other that could accommodate us all. They have you order your food at the front counter on a iPad and I really liked how easy it was, the program was easy to use and navigate. The food came within an appropriate time and the staff was nice. I ordered a customized burrito bowl and loved it! Can't wait to have it for leftovers :). By now I've had probably a third of the menu and I can say that I've enjoyed everything I've eaten. The guacamole is very good. I love the crazy quesadillas (shrimp is my favorite) and the crazy empanadas are good too. Get the green salsa with everything you get. Such a nice gem to this small town. This review is just based off of the 'crazy empanadas' alone, the only thing I've had off the menu. I first tried their empanadas at the Hightstown Harvest Fair where they had an outdoor stand and they were selling like hotcakes! I've had both the beef and chicken empanadas. The beef was good but the chicken was my personal favorite. It's flavored with chipotle mayo, pico, cheese and sour cream. Sooo tasty. The outer part of the empanadas are so tasty, doughy and baked/fried perfectly. I just discovered the restaurant is partnered with Door Dash, which is great if you're in need of a delivery like I was recently. The menu is so extensive and I've heard so many great things about what else is on there. Will definitely make my next order of Mexican food from TacoRito! read more

We've ordered from TacoRito several times and have not been disappointed. The food is made of fresh ingredients, flavorful, tasty, and very economical. This time we got the Chicken Fajita entree and knowing their portion sizes are large, we also ordered the 2 taco kids meal instead of an adult entree. In the end we didn't need the kids meal, because the Fajita entree was large enough. Now, I have leftovers for lunch! I liked the fajitas, but found the kids taco a bit bland; perhaps it's intended that way for kids. We've also had the chipotle burrito (spicy hot and so large that it can be split two ways) and crazy quesadilla; both are great. TacoRito is a cute little place in downtown Hightstown with bright yellow and orange paint. It always catches my eye when I drive past it on main street in Hightstown. The inside is very upbeat with happy, fun pop music playing. An interesting choice for a Mexican restaurant! They do have seating, but we've always done take out. I've been recommended this place by my neighbors but when I went I was sort of disappointed. The shredded/pulled chicken they use has an unpleasant feeling while eating it. The chicken is very watery and not flavorful like I would expect from Mexican Chicken. Maybe I need to order something else to enjoy but unless you really like pulled watery chicken (as opposed to say bbq pulled chicken which has so much more flavor and color) I wouldn't recommend getting the pulled chicken at all. However, on the other hand, their tortilla soup was delicious! I would highly recommend getting this as it was so savory and I just wanted more! read more

Even tried their other locations in Robbinsville and Plainsboro but it's the same across the board. Don't know what changed but it's definitely not the same as it was just a few years ago. On a trip to jersey right visit some family. We stopped by this spot for some burritos. It was good, the food was nice and hot. The flavor was a 8/10. I wish the added more cheese or some crema of some sort cause the burrito was a tad bit dry. Other than that it was good, customer service was ok and the food came out in a timely manner. Good but could've been better. Stopped by here on our way home from the Tulip Festival on May 5. On taste alone, it would be 4 stars but I'm grading the whole experience. Nice little spot, that you can eat inside or out. I got lucky, it was around 1:15pm and found parking fairly quick, but I can tell during peak hours you will find it hard to find parking. I like how you can see how the staff create the dish. They were nice overall but the one at the register taking our order was not happy being there lol. She could've at least cracked a smile and be more welcoming, that way I wouldn't have to hear it from my wife lmao! I was a bit disappointed that they don't even make #22b Meat Lovers Platter, why would you even have it on your menu? Pork Enchaladas - 9/10 Pros: Tasted very good, made nice looking and colorful, portion size was decent for $9.80. Cons: I thought it needed a pinch of salt, just nitpicking here. Sweet Yellow Plantain - 9/10 Pros: Not too sweet, not too plain, just right. Good portion for $4.75. Cons: Nothing comes to mind. I forgot what my wife and daughter had but they took pics. read more

Having thoroughly enjoyed a previous meal ordered at the Robbinsville location, I decided to order the family some food from the closer to our home Hightstown location. Chose to use Grub Hub. Order was delivered earlier than estimated which was great! We were hungry! Unfortunately, the order went down hill from there. Opened the order to find large order of guacamole was missing. Called the store only to be told by a young woman that it wasn't her fault because she just came in and all the others went home. Since when does change of shift become an acceptable reason for your fellow employees screw up? And "everybody" went home? Did they leave you all alone? She easily pulled the order up on the system but could do nothing about it. Again, "not her fault". I would have to deal with it through Grub Hub. That, naturally entailed reporting the missing item, receiving a refund, reordering the item, paying for the item, calling Grub Hub to get the delivery fee waived then waiting 30 minutes for it to be delivered. Meanwhile, the hot part of our order cooled to slightly warm and the flour tortillas hardened. While the guacamole was very good, we did not bother to use the unseasoned chips sent along with as the bag alone (see picture) left concern for improperly drained chips. One taste confirmed the grease and lack of seasoning. No thanks. Now to our main entree of steak and shrimp fajitas. The shrimp were nice and tender, beans quite good, rice good, but the steak? Nothing but rubber. Numerous pieces of grizzle and tendons! We had to sort out all those chewy pieces and cut the remaining pieces up very small to make them chewable. What a disappointment. Had to reheat everything which dried out the rice and (requested) flour tortillas. Big waste of money. We had two fajitas and the rest went into the garbage. The guacamole is good, although contains only a small amount of avocado pieces, heavy on cheaper corn and tomato fillers and a bit too creamy. But if craving and desperate, it'll do. Out of everything, the churros are delicious! Worth stopping in for them when you have a sweet tooth and are nearby. Yummy dipping sauce as well! Think I'll stick to going to the Robbinsville store and a certain place on Nassau Street in Princeton when I have the time for sure! read more

Los portions es GINORMOUS!!!!!! The portions and prices here are a huge draw to me, also given the recent media blitz surrounding Chipotle's great food poisoning epidemic of 2016 and 2017. It was time to branch out and go to tacorito. The menu seemed to have 100 items or more with most of the menu being under $10! It was the most daunting menu I had encountered in a while and let me tell you the menu read like a telenovela. Shout out to the girl who was choosing the playlist it was AMAZING. Thanks for curating the perfect background music for our little meal. The chicken tortilla soup was lime-y, decked out with chicken, delicious concoction that really was hitting a home run. The reviews are right you should definitely try this soup. Move over soup Nazi! The California burrito served wet, was the size of my head. I kid you not, or maybe a football..this could feed a family of 2 adults and child. Alright maybe not but who's telling. The burrito was a bit cold but stuffed to the brim!! Tacos al pastor, DARN, these were a bit dry. Tacorito does A LOT and I'm thinking maybe that is a detriment to the establishment. Got a lil miffed that Taco Rito didn't make it on that Nj.com top 30 YELP Mexican joints in the state so I wanted to take the power back by ordering their #27 special, the chipotle burrito. That word "chipotle" gets tossed around so much these days by every company selling everything imaginable that the pepper itself holds no value anymore except at Taco Rito. This stuff is authentic. You will sweat, you will feel it in your chest and it's all worth it because it's so damn tasty. Let's get the word out and wake up the masses to this fine establishment. First time trying this restaurant and was very happy with the food. The empanadas were handmade and they advised it would take 10-15 minutes but the food was ready in a little under 10 minutes. Empanadas were a bit more doughy since they are homemade but tasted great. The green creamy sauce goes really good with it. I got the tacorita rice bowl with grilled chicken. Awesome Authentic Mexican food. I honestly always get the chicken enchiladas with the red sauce. Comes with black beans and rice. Always awesome. Huge portion and at a reasonable price. The tacos are great also. We love the chicken Baja ones that have pineapples on it. Originally I was like that sounds a little weird.... but they taste amazing. It adds a whole different level of flavor and gives them a sweetness. I always add Cholula Hot Sauce so it compliments each other perfectly. Highly recommend. The have two locations.
