Mexican Shrimp. The rice and beans were served on a separate platter b
    jed k.

Did a quick Yelp search. After reading the reviews we decided to venture up here to give it a try. Fiesta Brava is located in a small strip center as you are leaving Hightstown. The interior is early luncheonette without the stools. There's about 10 booths and a few tables. This seemed to be a small operation with one waitress and possibly one chef. We were promptly waited on and opted for a large bottle of sparkling water. We ordered some guacamole and chips to start with. Unfortunately the chips were stale/soggy which definitely was not a good way to start the meal. My wife and I both ordered Mexican Shrimp. It was served with white rice and beans. There were 6 medium sized shrimp on the platter. The beans and rice were pretty nondescript. The sauce which was tasty was prepared with onions. Unfortunately, the shrimp was a little overdone. It was also served with tortillas. We were offered dessert but we declined. The reviews were very positive so we might give this place another try.

    Huevos Rancheros

I've been wanting to come here for a while but never got a chance until today. We got a seat at one of the booths when we arrived. The restaurant is small and very simple in design. It has eight booths in total (four on each side) and there are four two-seat tables that are situated in the middle of the restaurant. The drinks are on the right closest to the back. There's a refrigerator that's filled with bottled beverages and there are three dispensers that have specialty drinks in them. These include pineapple, Jamaica, and peach tea. The restaurant is also does not have the air conditioning on, so the air is very stuffy inside. Daughter ordered Huevos Rancheros, which was 2 fried eggs on top of tortillas with a side of rice and beans. There weren't any tortillas under her eggs. She liked it anyway. As long as she eggs, rice and beans, everything is good. Hubs had 3 lengua tacos, which are beef tongue. He liked it, too. Originally, he was going to order Tripe Stew but there was peanuts in it. I ordered Huevos a la Mexicana, which was scrambled eggs mixed with tomatoes, onions, green peppers and jalapeños. It's also served with white rice and beans. It was pretty good but I wish it came along with tortillas and that it was yellow rice instead of white rice. The rice was a bit bland. Service was friendly and quick. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!

We thought we'd roll the dice on this place. Bit of a mistake; we crapped out. The place is horrifically small. The waitress wasn't very pleasant. We should have left when we got the bagged chips and jarred salsa......I think it was Chi Chi's. (No I'm not kidding). It's akin to an Italian restaurant passing off Ragu as sauce. The enchiladas were OK. The rice and beans left much to be desired. Two words: White rice. C'mon really? The beans were as devoid of taste as the surface of the moon lacks life. We didn't make it home before the stomach started rumbling. Juat keep on rolling by. I see an empty store front in the near future.

,pollo apanado, breaded fried chicken with tostones and of course my avocados is served with a side of rice ,beans and salad..

Good food for taqueria-style. Simple yet welcoming place. Friendly staff and plenty of parking. Will drift one again.

We were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly. To be fair, we arrived early and were the only customers at the time, so I can't fully speak to how service is on a busy night, but during our visit, everything ran smoothly. The food was absolutely delicious and tasted truly authentic. The Birria tacos- amazinggg! Every dish was flavorful and clearly made with care. As a bonus, it's BYOB, which makes it even better for a relaxed night out. I would definitely recommend this spot and will be coming back!

They charge $10 for that, which usually is complementary in most places. But they very good. And came with three different salsas: hot, med (green) and mild. I liked the mild the best. My wife loved the birria chimichanga and I loved the steak tacos. We finished off with a chimichanga with rice pudding inside. They have a large menu with both traditional Mexican dishes and dished that are more familiar to me. Also some "New Creation" items. I have my eye on a lobster and shrimp item from that menu, for next time. The service was very good, and friendly. The cost was maybe a little high, but not excessive. We are definitely going back! Can't wait, actually!

I didn't actually realize it was where I wanted to go until I was parking in front of it. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining space inside is small and very basic--which is fine. The portion of the store selling Mexican food staples is in the front as you enter, and the handful of dine-in tables are located at the back of the store between the store's aisles and the kitchen counter. What finally got me there to visit was that it was open for breakfast, and while a lot of places say they're open for breakfast, opening up at 9AM twice a week doesn't qualify. El Sabor Oaxaqueño 2 is open for breakfast most days at 6AM, because they serve people who are working their butts off and who need a good meal. The breakfasts at El Oaxaqueño 2 serve that need. My Chilaquiles Verde were spicy, but not super spicy, and it was served with rice and black beans. My carne asada was an addition as were my fried eggs. You can also get chicken breast (pechuga) or a red sauce if that's more your style. My wife's Huevos con Chorizo were very flavorful and very filling. They were also served with rice and black beans, along freshly made tortillas and a stick of cheese to crumble over your meal. She was only able to finish off half her plate, and we took home the rest. Our next visit was for dinner, and because I couldn't decide on what I wanted, we split three plates between us. First up was my Tacos de Tripa. I asked for the tripa (pork chitterlings, not tripe) to be well cooked so that it was crunchy, and they served them up just as I like them. They were topped with chopped onion and garlic, and once topped with the spicy green fresh salsa, we gobbled them down. The tortillas were freshly made and had a nice texture. The next dish was the chicken enchiladas en mole. Four enchiladas were well stuffed with white chicken meat then bathed in flavorful mole and served with rice and beans. Thankfully, it wasn't topped with a ridiculously huge glob of melted cheese. Last was the Quesadilla--not your Mama's quesadilla either. It was huge, and it wasn't as cheesy as the quesadillas the average person knows. Inside it was stuffed almost like a taco with big pieces of shrimp in one half and carne asada in the other. There was cheese, but cheese was not the star as it is in the average quesadilla we're all used to. It was good, and we both enjoyed it--it was just a surprise. The place is far from fancy, but they serve real food, and it's real good.
