I'm a few visits overdue for an update. After rereading my original I stand by much of it, but have tried a few more things and have found that this seems to be my go to local spot even after another very good one opened up a few miles closer. I have since tried the Al pastor and Birria tacos, both very good and have reordered. I like the daily salads included with some choices, and if the potato string bean one is ever on a day I order, I'll get extra. The carne de res guisado is just as good as the pollo, and I like the tortillas that are sometimes included with it, but to be honest I don't really need the extra carbs, these are good portions. I just had the flautas again( which I previously identified as tacquitios:)) and these are incredible, still 4 per order too! I'd kind of be happy with 2 orders as my whole meal. I've been waiting to try the pupusas and that will be soon. It should be noted that my last, and equally important reason for updating this was the great customer service. There is NO language barrier here. And the reason I mention this is that this is not the case at the previously mentioned closer spot. When I come here I feel like my business is appreciated and that I can communicate with the employees well. I found Que Rico online one day while I was searching for something to order for dinner. Their reviews are excellent, so I just knew that I had to give them a try! I've had a few items from their menu so far and everything has been delicious! I've tried the Flautas, the Birrias , bean and cheese Pupusas, chicken tacos, sweet plaintains, and guacamole (which come with homemade chips). I also had Tres Leches for dessert. Everything is delicious and homemade. The quality of their meat really stands out to me. The guacamole is very good. I have to say my favorites are the chicken tacos and the Birrias. The chicken tacos are made the traditional way and served with a delicious green sauce which I LOVE! The Birrias are tacos consisting of shredded beef and melted cheese in a tortilla, also served with sauce for dipping. Both meals heat up really well as leftovers too so i happily bring my leftovers for lunch the next day (as portions are very generous)! I always order take out but when i go inside to pick up my order, the interior is very comfortable and always very clean. They have quite a few tables too. The service is wonderful and the prices are more than reasonable! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a delicious meal. read more

This Casa Mexicana is the latest kitchen to open for business in this mini strip on George Dye Road, Hamilton Square,NJ. It's name, "Que Rica," means "delicious," and you have to give it to them for their confidence that their food will melt your heart with flavor. I stopped in for breakfast, and had the entire restaurant to myself as I sat down on one of their half dozen tables to await the preparation of Huevos y Chorizo platter and fresh brewed coffee. Their service stops at the high half wall separator between kitchen and dining area. The cook put both my large coffee and morning plate up there and alerted me to go get it for myself. No sweat. I don't mind actively participating in my food service. The food was very good. The eggs and spicy sausage were chopped and scrambled together. It occupied the center of the oval dish, with soft black beans on one side, and white crema on the other. Two hot hand slapped wheat tortillas came separately wrapped in foil. It all tasted best when sort of mixed together with my fork. That way, all the competing textures and flavors blended well and took the edge off the chorizo heat and brought in the gentle sourness of the crema and light pastiness of the beans. The tortillas were an excellent way to soak up the remains on the plate so nothing was wasted. Too, the coffee was dripped just for me and had a great dark roast taste. Service was friendly and bilingual. The three women working behind the counter knew their roles, and did them well. Have to believe they have a strong chance to succeed. read more

My wife and I found this place while desperately looking for some decent new food in the area, and we were very happy that we came in! I got the carne asada tacos for myself and they were tasty - cooked to order, which is always appreciated, and the accompanying salsa was flavorful. I will say that I always like having the option of getting a super spicy salsa (habanero or something), and Que Rico didn't have one, but that's not a huge deal. My wife tried the pupusas (loroco on one occasion and, I believe, beans and cheese on the other) and really enjoyed them. They're toasted perfectly! Finally, the price tag for the food is very reasonable. So why not 5 stars? Well, while the tacos were pretty darn good, I didn't feel like they were exceptional. My Honduran friend raved about her dinner here the other week, so this new Hamilton Square place went to the top of my must try list. She did not steer me wrong. Located in a strip mall with Marcello's Pizza Grill and Great Wall, this unassuming spot would be easy to miss. That would be unfortunate, because the food is pretty fantastic. I went with an order of lengua tacos. Served in an order of three, they were served perfecy in the traditional style; double corn tortillas, a pinch of fresh chopped onion and cilantro and a hearty serving of the tender beef tongue. A side of tasty, creamy salsa Verde is the only accompaniment, and it is all that is needed. Delicious. My wife had an order of chicharon pupusas, which also came as a trio. The pupusas themselves were slightly smaller than many of the placed I've enjoyed them before, but they were also perfectly fried and filled with just the right amount of pork and cheese. The discs were just a touch crispy on the outside while still being moist throughout. A little pickled cabbage on top, a splash of hot sauce, perfection. The desert case featured a few slices of tres leches, which I ended up passing on in an abnormal display of restraint. Given my desire to try their versions of tacos al pastor and loroco pupusas, I'm sure I'll lack the will power to make the same choice next time, which will certainly be in the near future. read more

Came in for a late lunch on a Thursday. Immediately, we were greeted when we came in and told to look over the menu and then come to the front to order when we were ready. I ordered the birrias tacos and my mom ordered a tamale. We split the guacamole and one slice of tres leches. The birrias tacos were amazing. The dipping sauce was so flavorful and the tacos were stuffed and had the perfect melted cheese oozing out. My moms tamale was good, but needed a little salsa or salt. The guac was delicious, but also needed a little salt. There were huge chunks of tomato and cilantro. You could tell how fresh everything was. The cake was moist and not too sweet. We loved it. The woman working at the front was super friendly and told us to come back soon and she'll give us some good recommendations. She said pupusas should be next on our list! The place is small, but there are about 5-6 tables. The bathroom was clean, small, and unisex. The decor and music definitely have an authentic vibe. read more

Told it would be 15 minutes for order and it was about 18. Not bad. And now the food itself: I tried five items and all five were very good. Flautas, quesadillas, both the chicken and beef burritos and a special chip dip with a shrimp pico homemade sauce. The burritos were among the best in the area: real GENUINE Mexican/Guatemalan fare.
