Ripped booths

Use to love this place. Now it seems there allowing it to fall apart. The food is just ok. The inside dining area is appalling. Dirty and a lot of ripped up booths. They need to step it up.

Moe's is to real Tex/Mex, what Red Baron is to real pizza - Not even close! I don't mean that it is bad per se, because the ingredients are decent and the outcome has a passing resemblance to authentic TexiMexi; it's just that the ultimate experience was somewhat hollow if you know what the real stuff can do. My Homewrecker, wasn't. It was simply a large burrito wrapped in a premade tortilla that held chicken, black beans, rice, lettuce, pico, cheese, and jalapeno slices. Although the chicken was ostensibly grilled, this gordito was cooler than room temperature when consumed. I would have much preferred a hot tortilla and warm innards. Didn't happen. It wasn't any fun to eat, even if it was healthy and filling. The accompanying chips were run of the mill mass produced corn crisps. The only spark of creativity came from the Salsa Bar, which had a few interesting options. The Cranberry Salsa was refreshingly good. Given the ever growing number of Mexican, Guatemalan, Salvadoran restaurants springing up in Trenton and Hamilton, Moe better hope that enough people are either afraid to go to those real places, or happy to partake of the neutered platters he puts out. As for me, I am too far gone on the authentic comidas de America Centrale to ever find this place satisfying.

Food was really good! No problems and free chips with meal. Salsas were yummy and we liked it.

My Quate - Chicken tortilla soup -- very flavorful

For too long a time, the choice just used to be just one place on 33 that no longer exists (even the building is gone). If not there, then one needed to head to Trenton for the Guatemalan places that served some solid tacos to go with their regional cuisine. Now, we've choices galore, and since we're no longer held hostage by lack of options, we actually have to put thought into deciding where to spend our dollars. My Quate has now been serving up tasty south of the border standards for about a half dozen years, and after a number of visits, I can say that My Quate is solidly on my list of places worth going to. The location is on the small side, and every time I've been there, there's been just one person working the front. Sometimes if it's busy it can take a few minutes before the counter person can get to you, but they've always been cheerful and attentive. The place is always clean, and it's got the usual bright decorations that you've grown to expect when going for Mexican style food. Probably my favorite item on the menu is the Tortilla Soup. It has a depth of flavor that hits me where I live, and it's a fantastic cold night dish (or anytime dish), and even the cup sized serving can be fairly filling in itself. If I need some Tortilla Soup, My Quate is my choice. They serve two different types of enchiladas--their House style and their Traditional style. The difference between the two appears to be the toppings and choices of sauces. That said, you need to pay attention. I ordered a House style chicken mole enchilada, and the server asked me if I wanted grilled chicken or shredded. I said shredded, but that only comes with the Traditional style. So what I got was the shredded chicken enchilada en Mole, but instead of being topped in the cheese sauce that the House style gets, it was topped with lettuce and sour cream (which I dislike). Luckily the sour cream wasn't super heavy and by smearing it in with the mole it was hidden, but it was a lesson in paying attention to the menu. That said, the Mole was very good, a hint of sweetness, but not excessively so, and it went down well. The fish tacos served here didn't quite make the top 3 of my faves (https://www.yelp.com/collection/3YtEEhWaFEnyFZ4JjP0nbw/Fish-Tacos-in-Hamilton-Area-Ranked) in the Hamilton area--mainly due to them not being the battered, deep fried style I prefer, but they were the BEST of the chopped, non-fried fish tacos. They were tacos with above average flavor, likely due to the flavorful liquid in which they're cooked (braised?) that's full of tomatoes, onions, and chiles. To top it off, they're served on a fresh, house made tortilla that's got a robust texture that didn't succumb to the wetness of the fish, and that tortilla also had a great flavor that you only get from freshly made tortillas. Probably my only real negative is the salsa that is served with the totopos at the beginning of the meal after sitting down. It's just lifeless and is like dipping your totopo into a bowl of crushed tomatoes. There's no pico in that gallo. Aside from my minor issues with the free stuff, My Quate is well worth the visit if you're looking for a quality Mexican style meal.

Every time I eat here, I always say it myself that this place has the freshest best tasting grilled chicken, grilled shrimp, seasoned vegetables, salsa, and food! I don't know how they do it, but it's so delicious and served perfectly hot every time! Actually, this is one of my two go to restaurants and favorite spots that I use all the time! It's not uncommon for me to go here every weekend for even eight weeks in a row. While the service is excellent. the food is cooked to order. So you may wait a little longer than you're used to for your food, but that's the reason why it's so delicious and so perfectly served! If you'd rather be served faster there's plenty of other options to go. You still get served fast enough though and they do put a nice bowl of chips and salsa on your table while you wait. I am sort of stubborn so every time I go I get the grilled chicken and shrimp fajitas with corn tortillas. You could also get regular tortillas. This meal is so perfect for me. I'm never gonna change but oh my goodness they have one heck of a menu. Also, this place is absolutely beautifully decorated, and you feel like you're in Mexico City! I guess it's time to let the secret out, you'll really be happy you went here!

The tacos were pretty good, the steak fajita dish was also very good, the Baja fish tacos were on the dry side but ok. Downsides: place is new and obviously folks are flooding this place to try them out. The staff is overwhelmed. We were seated quickly, but menus took a while because they were short whole menus. The kitchen was also overwhelmed. I saw people leaving with bag fulls of food. For $2 tacos people were likely ordering by the truckload. Our order took 40 mins to reach the table. And to be honest, I wanted more food but couldn't afford to wait close to an hour for it. I will say that the owner was walking to the tables and let us know what was going on- totally appreciated it. She also gave us a discount to help make things right which we also appreciated. We gave the discount and the tip to the waitress. The waitress was phenomenal. Clearly under pressure. She knew that we were antsy because of the wait and she really did try to be extra attentive with drinks and chips. Big kudos to her. New place going thru the growing pains. Don't give them a hard time. I'll be back and look forward to seeing them settle in.
