As I was over ate during lunch, not much room for dinner. Just accompany my wife. They served free chips with salsa, a little spicy but delicious. Would like to come back to try other dishes.

They have…read moreample indoor seating, as well as a few tables for patio dining out front during the warmer months. While the interiors aren't fancy, it's perfectly in line with what you'd expect on Main Street in Cranbury. Menu prices are a tad bit on the higher side, and they could probably garner some additional business if they had a lunch menu, and some additional vegetarian options, as most dishes seem priced to include meat or seafood (probably an oversight as there is quite a huge vegetarian population in the area). Meals start with complimentary chips & 2 types of salsa, which is always appreciated as a nice way to start off a meal. For meals, we ordered the chicken tacos, a corn tamale elote, a chicken quesadilla, and a vegetarian burrito bowl. Both the vegetarian burrito bowl (5/5) and corn tamale elote (4.5/5) were of high quality and well-liked. The chicken quesadillas (3.5/5) and chicken tacos (3,25/5) were ok, but the chicken was a bit on the bland side without much flavor. Other area Mexican eateries do a better job in serving a more flavorful/spiced chicken. Service (4/5) was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, Cinco de Mayo is a welcome addition to the Cranbury food scene, and although it wasn't our favorite restaurant in the area for Mexican food, we"ll be back to support this local business and try out some of their other menu items

I met a friend here a few days back to enjoy a few beers. We both had mixed experiences. Let's…read morestart with the positives. Cute updated room and friendly customer service, and a huge menu. Maybe too big? A review mentioned fish tacos so I wanted to start there, guac seemed like a good idea for a snack while waiting for our meals. It was ok, too watery due to excess lime juice and no pico in it as stated on the menu. The tacos were much better, long thin pieces of tilapia with shredded iceberg and cheese a few diced toms and a pink sauce. They were served on wheat tortillas. I wished the assemblage was slightly different, maybe just pickled onion and pico, but this Gringo version was fine. My friend thought his barbacoa special was ok only, but did not elaborate. We both got things to go too. He brought home the Birria quesadilla, and I the caldo de res. He thought the take home was much better than his lunch. My beef soup was not good at all. The spicy broth was not spicy or even seasoned, I could barely detect the presence of sodium. Worse was the cuts of beef included, they were mainly bone and fat with little meat. I get this soup at several places closer to home and have enjoyed them. This one was not edible to me. Had I not gotten that item I would be rounding up to 4 stars. Let's say 3.5 and a one and done for me....

The restaurant is small, with walls that are white on top and brown on the bottom, 3 booths lining the left wall and 2 booths on the right, and regular tables seating up to 4 guests. The Mexican flag is hung up on the right wall while Ecuador's flag hangs on the left and cultural items surround them as well. The drinks refrigerator can be seen in the back and the entrance to the adjoining store is found on the back by the left wall, with decorations on strings hanging over the entire restaurant. A soccer game was playing while we were there. We ordered the following: Lengua Forrada; Arroz y frijoles- Hubs thought this was ok. We weren't expecting an uncut tongue. Normally, when we order lengua, it's all diced up and put on tortillas. This time, we got a couple of whole tongues. It was a little weird. LOL. The rice and beans were good. Flautas- corn tortillas filled with chicken or steak and fried topped with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and cheese. I chose steak. I actually liked it because the flautas were nice and crispy. Enchiladas Mexicana Bistec; salsa Verde- corn tortillas rolled and stuffed with choice of shredded chicken or steak, topped with either red or green salsa. Daughter chose the steak with green salsa and said that this was pretty good. She thought it was flavorful and meaty and that it hit the spot. Tres leches - I got it to go. I found mold on top of the tres leches. You wouldn't be able to see it if you didn't open the lid because it was underneath their label. I don't know what made me open the lid but I'm glad I did. I returned it to the server and showed it to her but she never removed it from the bill. I didn't say anything about it but counted it as part of the tip. I'm giving this place 3 stars because of the mold on the tres leches and the server didn't take it off the bill after I returned it to her. I didn't say anything about it because there was a language barrier and I didn't know how to approach her saying it. While service was quick and friendly, I won't be returning here because of the mold and we got billed for it, anyway.

The salad was fresh and crisp - a welcome addition to the rest of the rich plate. At $20 the plate was an ok value. The restaurant was bustling and low key. I would consider coming again, but with so many other restaurants in the area I'd probably try something else first.

A huge thank you to the manager, Kiely, who was incredibly helpful from start to finish. Communication was excellent, every detail was handled, and they made accommodating the different dietary needs seem effortless. Our driver, Al, was equally amazing. He delivered everything as promised, stayed to help us get organized, and made sure we had everything we needed before leaving. That level of service really stood out. There are good restaurants and good teams, but Tacoria went well beyond that. The food, communication, flexibility, delivery, and genuine willingness to help were all exceptional. I would highly recommend Tacoria for catering, especially if you're feeding a large group. They made feeding 30 people incredibly easy. Thank you Kiely, Al, and the entire Tacoria team! My salad was exactly what I was jonesing for and the lime salad dressing was perfect. I would say don't forget the Agua Fresca. The lime is super yummy. My teen devoured his tacos and refused to share. But from his reaction, I would say they were pretty darn good. We also always look for a place that is gluten-free due to celiac. We did have to talk to a more experienced person at the counter, but they were able to explain that They put down aluminum foil on the grill so that our corn tortillas don't get crossed contaminated by the flour tortillas. And the meat is made only on a grill with meat so you don't have to worry about cross-contamination there. We ate safely, but if you do go, just make sure you advocate for yourself and they will accommodate you.

I ordered one of the specials that used skirt steak (sorry, my Spanish is pretty much nonexistent so I forget the exact name) and it was prepared in ~10 minutes or so. I could tell it was fresh, so no complaints there! I took my food to go, and I have to admit that it was pretty challenging to cut up my steak with the provided plastic knife and fork. Granted, I'm not really sure what the solution is - it's not like they're going to give out a quality knife and fork for a take-out order. The steak was definitely tasty and tender for skirt steak, and the sides (rice, black beans, and pasta salad with a jalapeño on top) were all high quality as well. Finally, they offered some side tortillas which were decent but didn't blow me away. The whole meal was only $10, which is extremely reasonable for Princeton. Overall, I was really happy with my experience at Chapin. All of the food was good (with the exception of the side tortillas, which were only decent). I do think that the restaurant could offer a little more information on the ingredients of the specials (I had to use Google!), but I guess I could have just asked the reasonably friendly staff and he would have answered my questions :) But it's nice to just be able to read it off a menu. Anyway, I can definitely see myself coming back!
