Several months back my wife and I had brunch at Christos Kitchen we were not satisfied with the food told Management they refused to offer anything. Now granted we waited a while before telling them, so we asked if they would comp the desert to make up for the poor quality brunch again no. I contacted the owner Hightstown Diner and they never returned our call. The food is not very good go to the Hightstown Diner instead. read more

Cute little dinner. Prices are average, but I think the portions are a bit smaller than what you get at other diners. I had the hot open turkey, which was good, but no gravy on mashed potatoes and they were kind of bland. Veggies were good. We went for a late lunch at about 3:00. I ordered chicken pot pie from the daily specials menu. Comes with soup or salad and a house dessert. The chicken pot pie was amazing. Wow, it was so good. First, the presentation was nice. It came in a bread bowl. The sauce was silky and butterly. Fresh shredded white meat chicken, and vegetables were fresh. The top of the bowl removed was toasted making a nice crouton for dipping, the bowl was toasted as well. I was blown away by the presentation and taste. Today Christos unveiled their new menu. Amazing! Never in all my years of dining everywhere in the US have I ever seen a 50 cents up charge for rye toast. Unacceptable. Very disappointing. You couldnt bury the 50cents in the upgraded prices elsewhere but no you need to insult us! read more

Small intimate place, you might have to wait during peak dining times but it's worth it. Servers are friendly and attentive. And did I say the food is great? lol ... I had NY strip steak, I was shocked on how well this steak was cooked, you can almost cut it a fork and delicious the sauce on the steak was great, even the mashed potatoes were heavenly, good cooking at christos I'll be back. I was really looking forward to having breakfast out today. I ordered a breakfast "gyro" omelette wrap special that listed ingredients I like but left out one major ingredient-- the meat, which I don't eat. My breakfast companion also was not expecting meat so she was very surprised. I asked to see the menu to see if I had made a mistake and was sharply told "Well that's what a gyro is". So I guess we are all born knowing all gyros MUST have meat so it doesn't have to be listed. You just have to know. It was also supposed to be in "wrap" so we were expecting a wrap or a pita bread. No wrap or pita -- which based on the server's comment "Well, that's what a gyro is" . I didn't get the type of toast I ordered and even though it was passed any kind of breakfast rush, I had to get our server's attention to ask for more coffee. This place is very lazy with their food. They use canned corned beef hash and canned mushrooms for their omelettes. It's not hard to walk across the plaza to stop and shop to get fresh mushrooms. Just bc seniors can't taste the food doesn't mean all of us can't. read more

I've eaten here many times. Thus is not about the food. It's about their pricing practices. I ordered breakfast and the check was higher than the menu price. When I brought this up with the cashier/woman "in charge " she said she can't change the check because the higher price was in their computer system and refused to charge me the LISTED menu price. Instead of doing what's right and lowering the check and placating a steady customer they are taking advantage of the public who probably does not scrutinize the charges. This is terrible business practice by advertising one price and charging a higher one. So I previously left a 5 star review because the first salad i ever ate there was delicious. I've only ever ordered Greek salad before because it comes with grape leaves. So the price of a Greek salad with grilled chicken comes out to $15... pricy in my opinion. With that being said, I'd expect all the ingredients to be there. Last few times I've ordered they kept leaving out the stuffed grape leaves. The hostess was nasty the last time and said "oh you're one of those" when I said please make sure they include stuffed grape leaves. Not only do I ask nicely, i even tip them just for take out. And for some reason they leave that vital ingredient out of the Greek salad. Today my friend picked up two Greek salads with grilled chicken. He called to make sure to ask about the grape leaves when placing the order because you know we have to keep reminding them. When we opened the salad we were excited to eat it because it had everything. However, after we ate the top layer, we saw slimy hairy anchovies in the middle. The menu does not state anchovies so i don't know why they thought it was okay to include that in the salad. The fishy smell ruined the salad and touched everything. It was so disgusting that I'm never going back to Christos again. I keep giving them chances, but they over charge, forget ingredients, have rude staff, and now they're adding anchovies in the salad. read more

Six of us walked in and were seated, then waited and waited and had to call for a waitress to bring us menus. BLTs came with no mayo! One was ordered on rye not toasted and it came toasted. Omelette was $10.95 ($8.95 at The Diner; $6.95 at Sal's for the same thing). $2.35 for a cup of tea - no herbal. My bill for an omlette and tea was $15.14 NOT WORTH THE DIFFERENCE IN PRICE. read more

Been there three times to give them a break being new. There's more to then serving then throwing the food on the table. They are renovating the place but over crowded it with too many tables. I know they have to max the place but I'm not sure I want to eat with strangers.The feeling by sitting so close. Because of lack of isle space our sever approached on the other side of our table and didn't place the food in front of me. Not a BIG deal but annoying. I think the best thing to order is a Belgian Waffle I saw numerous ones at lunch. My beef barely soup tasted canned and my brisket sandwich was very dry. I know it's subjective but I don't like the fries covered with some concoction of stuff to make them crunchy. My wife's mushroom omelette, ordered soft came out brown on the outside and raw- not loose on the inside. Sorry 3 strikes and you're out. Way to many diners in NJ to settle read more
