Taking a star back from my first review. Ordered dinner from this place for my wife and I. I had the meatloaf which was OK, but they gave an ice cream sized scoop of mashed potatoes with it. For the prices they are now charging a little bit more food should be given. read more

My party of 4 just had 4 excellent tasting meals: eggplant parm, chicken parm, gyro and Mile High Meatloaf ( huge portion ). Our meals included salad, soup and desserts. I've only been here three times for breakfast. Overpriced, typical for Senior Ville, Monroe. On my last trip, they burnt my French toast, but turned it over so that I wouldn't notice. Maybe some people like burnt food, but I particularly don't, as it ruins the entire meal. Call me picky. I would frequent here so much more for wknd breakfast if this hadn't of happened and if the prices were a bit lower. Shouldn't be spending $30 for two.. its only breakfast! read more

Happy there are new owners and great improvement over the previous establishment. The food was very good and the service is friendly and attentive. My California chicken sandwich could have fed two and the fries were delicious (I like the coating). The brown gravy in which to dip, was not to my liking. Others had short stacks and loved them. Everything we saw go by looked delish and we will definitely be back to try more. Only suggestion is to add gluten-free bread/rolls. My parents live in Concordia and this place is so nearby that now we don't have to trek into Jamesburg for a decent diner. read more

I'm still full from my lunch of cobb salad, it was huge and yummy. My husband's chicken sandwich was enough for 2. A welcome edition to this area as most of the restaurants in this shopping ctr and on Applegarth Rd are average at best. I live in NY and dine mostly in Astoria for good Greek food but when visiting locally will return here. Next time we will have dinner. Based on a recommendation of a friend we tried Christos for the first time yesterday for lunch. We were not disappointed! Very attentive and friendly staff took care of us well. The authentic Greek dishes combined a unique savory taste with traditional comfort foods. If you aren't in the mood for Greek food their omelettes, salads and wraps are on par or better than most local diners I've been to. Given the quality and portion sizes, the prices are very reasonable. It's a BYOB so this is another great way to keep lunch or dinner costs reasonable. They are a great addition to the neighborhood and we will go back for sure. read more

I went with the special, I think it was called the Concordia burger sooo delicious and cooked perfectly. How sad. This could have been a wonderful new place to eat in Monroe. Unfortunately, it isn't. I've been there several times for breakfast. It is fine. You can't, however, live on breakfast alone. Two tries for dinner told me not to try a third. The first time I ordered I ordered stir-fried chicken made in a wok. My other dining partners ordered chicken made with a white sauce. Although one expects stir-fried foods cooked in a wok to have soy sauce, but some other spices and flavoring should be there also. Unfortunately, the chef relied on soy sauce and more soy sauce and more soy sauce to drown the poor pieces of chicken and mushy vegetables. He succeeded. They were dead on arrival, so salty that the food was inedible. The other chicken dishes suffered a different fate. I'm not a chef but evidently the one at this restaurant has a poor relationship with the bird. He must have decided to kill it by a slow drying process before serving it. We were the recipients of this dried entree. They do know how to steamed broccoli. Mashed potatoes had a thin consistency so they flowed to the side of the plate. When in a situation like this I often turn to bread or rolls. Unfortunately, we received neither. At the end of the meal we asked the server if they ever serve a bread basket and we were assured that they always do. Small mistakes like this can happen. It wasn't important. You may ask why we, as a table didn't complain. My wife and I were with another couple that seemed to enjoy the meal. We enjoyed being with them and we didn't want to make them uncomfortable. Only at the end did they share their disappointment. Dessert choices of bread pudding served cold, Jello or chocolate pudding shows how little imagination the restaurant has. We were served ice cream instead when we requested it. I asked about cake but was told that it didn't come with dinner. We decided to give Christos another chance and ordered food to bring home. Take out orders often don't show the best of a restaurant's ability to make great food. That being said, we order chicken soup with matzah balls and another with noodles, moussaka, and grilled chicken with steamed vegetables with a dessert of bread pudding. A salad was included with romaine lettuce. Romaine lettuce had been recalled by the government because of the possibility of contamination. Every diner-type restaurant serves matzah balls but very few serve sour ones. Wisely we had no salad or matzah balls. Noodles in noodle soup were nonexistent. The soup was tasty but the taste wasn't from chicken but from the many vegetables that it was made with. I wanted a chicken soup that tasted like chicken soup. The poor chicken was again given the dry heat treatment and was completely inedible. The moussaka was so bland that I left most of it. The bread pudding which was tasty was served cold. So, rather than continuing to moan and groan to myself, I decided to let you know of my experience. The staff was always friendly but I don't eat at a place for the staff. read more

GOOD FOOD.....Place is a little plain needs a little more decor.Breakfast was pretty good, I had scrambled eggs with bacon, my daughter had chocolate chip pancakes they were good.Butter was in the packets that you have to open. Pain in the butt those little packets. Give people a little cup of butter instead, those packets are cheesy and annoying to open especially for seniors who predominantly live in the area.Menu could be updated to like an "Over Easy" restaurant menu from Marlboro,this is a very simple diner menu.Other then that, I will come back, Waitress Mary Ann could be a little bit friendlier not sure if she knows how to smile , probably a family member. I give the food is a 5 but the server was terrible. btw your Potato salad is FANTASTIC.!!!! Anyway our server.... She never once came back to checkon us until an empty plate was moved to the edge. I asked for a refill and my friend asked for a box and water. Five minutes layer she dumped a box in front of us but no water. My friends asked again for water and she just turned away. Five minutes later the water and bill came. I had a lunch special and she never asked us of we wanted dessert or anything else nor tell me i got Jello or pudding. Shame because we would have ordered dessert and another hot chocolate because we were sitting catching up anyway. Instead we sat there with a water instead of willingly spending more money. Took mom there for lunch. Food was good, restaurant needed decorating but the waitress was great. The manager was loud, abrasive and was yelling at the staff to the point that I was very uncomfortable, glad my mom didn't hear him saying "fu**"" repeatedly. He was coughing and spitting up into the waste can next to the register. Never again. I mentioned that we went there to a friend of mine who told me her and her husband had been there three times and the last time there was an older guy there instead of the young guy and he was so awful to everyone that they wouldn't go back. Husband and I waited for about 10 minutes to be seated. The couple behind us in line got tired of waiting and sat themselves in a booth. An older gentleman finally came out (host) and started to complain about the couple seating themselves. We sat at a table and was promptly waited on by a friendly waiter with very dirty fingernails. We gave our order and mine came with soup. It was vegetable/fish chowder which was tasteless and completely inedible. My husband had a wrap and fries and he was completely satisfied with his meal. I ordered the crab cake sandwich on brioche roll. My crab cake and fries were good, but the brioche roll was twice as big as the crab cake and it was stale. The sandwich came plain with no tartar sauce or mayo. I asked the waiter about a dressing for the crab cake and he said right away and turned and walked away. Ten minutes later he brought what appeared to be a sauce made from pickles and mayo. It was grainy and did not taste right. This is the second time we have tried this restaurant. The last time was 15 minutes before closing time one night and we were turned away because the grill had already been turned off. The restaurant's tables are really crowded in together and the staff seems very disorganized. Sorry, I wanted to like this place, but we will not return. read more

Place is okay. Maybe because they are new they will get better? My wrap came out not really wrapped well so everything fell out. It was just okay. Considering it's a small place, I kept trying to wave the server over but it took her quite a while to notice. We had a party of 7 and were treated to a great dining experience. The owners suggested a family style meal and they did not disappoint. We started with a spinach appetizer that was baked in a light flaky dough that was awesome then a calamari salad that exceeded expectations. The main course had shrimp, chicken, and sliced steak all prepared well with great flavor. We topped off the dinner with homemade rice and bread puddings that solidified Christos Kitchen as great place to enjoy an evening. The staff was attentive and made us feel like family.
