What perfect time to check out beard papa's! It was a hot day and wanted something cool to eat. We ordered the mango and oreo milk snow and a couple beard papas. The mango milk snow had mango syrup with mango chunks and mochi galore! The Oreo was just like the mango milk snow, but with Oreos instead. The snow isn't just shave ice, it's more like sliced ice cream, but not sweet! The sweetness comes from the toppings which is just right! The beard papa's,,,, you can never go wrong with some cream puffs! To me the quality of beard papa's have always been the same since I was 11 years old!! That's almost 20 years ago! The service here is nice, they even ask you if you're taking the snow to go because if you are they pack it up so nice for you. The inside is like a cafe with so many big tables, this is definitely a cool place to chill away from the sun!
Persona 5 collab! The matcha one was definitely my favorite out of the six though you can never go wrong with the original.
This is the 2nd beard papas I have been to and the cream puffs are always a delight to enjoy. They are the perfect size for a sweet treat after a meal and come in different flavors. This location is located inside of Mochi, and operate from the same counter so you can order something from either store.
Been a fan of beard papas and now instead of going to down town LA's Little Tokyo, you can find it in Irvine. It's located inside Mochi Cafe. So if you can't find any signs or know where to look at, just enter Mochi and you'll see all their products in there. I love the cream puffs as that's that they are known for. The cream inside the puffs are just like ones I'd have in Japan. It's custard/vanilla is the original flavor. That's the only one I always get since it's the best in my opinion. You have have the puffs with different toppings like Dubai chocolate, matcha, and other seasonal flavors. Ofcourse you have to get some coffee to go with it so I tried their banana cold foam latte and it went great with it. Tons of seating inside but it's hot as their AC always seem to be turned off. But either way come for the cream puffs. You won't regret it.
Beard Papa's puffs are tasty. The custard filling is much tastier than the traditional cream filling puffs. There are different flavors but I enjoy the original the best. Aside from the regular puff shells, they have other flavors now. The interior decor is inviting to sit and enjoy the dessert ordered here. The store was also selling other items like mochi ice cream and other desserts. The staff was friendly and prompt in assembling my puff order.
This place sells so many different types of desserts there is something for everyone. Bears papa has very fresh filling and lots of different flavors to choose from. There is a wide variety of mochi ice cream to choose from. The place has lots of seating for hanging out.
This place sells a really wide variety of desserts. It's been in Irvine for a very long time, and in my opinion, staying in business in one spot for that long in Irvine means the food is genuinely delicious. They have so many types of desserts, but I usually get the bingsu (shaved ice). This time, I tried the black sesame bingsu and wow... it was so good! It wasn't overly sweet, and it felt like it refreshed my entire mind in this hot summer heat~! The interior is spacious and they have two huge tables, so even if you go with a large group, there's plenty of room to sit comfortably. It's such a great spot with a diverse dessert selection where everyone can order exactly what fits their own taste! Highly recommended
Standard Beard Papa's. Place is spacious with plenty of seating for small and larger groups. Prices across franchises are definitely increasing over the years, but you sometimes just need that sweet fix. They do a good job of filling the cream puffs full of your choice of cream. Solid place for a hang out.
I came here two weeks ago. The store sign had the name Mochi Dessert Cafe that caught my attention. I didn't realize Beard Papa's was also part of the store until I saw a plaque on the window with the Beard Papa logo. I came for the mochi donut. I wanted to try the Ube flavor. I liked it. Ube is one of my favorite flavors. I would come back and try other mochi flavors. Service was fine.
Yummy dessert to end the night. Not super sweet-- sweetness is just right. We got the original and ube. They run out of certain flavors at 9-ish pm, so come little earlier if you want like Oreo or more popular flavors. Service is good-- not too long of line and accommodating. Ambiance is casual. Lots of families, dates, and studying folks. Would come again!

Beard Papa's, is a very cute establishment in the plaza where Mitsuwa Irvine is located. Walking through the doors, the kids and I were in awe and immediately gravitated to the right where they had a wall theme of cats. Of course we took photos and talked about how the place had a fun and inviting atmosphere. Beard Papa's space is quite large with plenty of tables and seats with additional places to sit outside. The deco definitely gives you the happy feels. It's a cute place to grab dessert and chill with friends. Towards the back is where you will find the display cases for different desserts, as well as the cashier and some Asian toys or items for purchase. What we ordered; 1) Croissant Taiyaki with Nutella - I actually liked the texture of the croissant Taiyaki. It was buttery just like a croissant. It was different from other Taiyaki I've had but I enjoyed it. 2) Mochi ice creams - we had strawberry, which my kids didn't really like. They thought it tasted a bit like medicine. Mango, they favored this one much better. Matcha - it was ok for me. I felt like this didn't taste like true matcha. Overall, based on our experience, the deco, taiyaki and mochi, it was a 3 out of 5 stars for us. I would definitely return, but I probably would not do the mochi again. I may try those puffs or a drink instead. Ending our night out here was a fun and new experience.
Found this place through my daughter, and recommend everyone to try them out. I am not much of a cream puff person or cream stuff donut type of person. Pretty much the idea of anything stuff with something not my thing, but these puffs are amazing they have the perfect amount of stuffing in every bite and ingredients are good and taste fresh. What is great about these besides how good and soft the bread is that they have a variety of flavors to choose from as well. Staff was great and patient during my decision process on what flavors I wanted to get and answered all my questions.

I really love getting dessert at Beard's Papa ~ Highly highly recommend you guys trying Beard's Papa items. The shells are sooo good, it is crispy yet delicious. Especially, highly recommend honey butter shell, almond crispy or Oreo shell :333 The filling is delicious, it is not too sweet but still delicate ^^ read more

The cream puffs at Beard Papa's deserve four stars due to their yummy cream filling and pastry shell. The cream puffs are always filled to the brim and the pastry shell is so crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! It's one of the first places I go to when I'm craving delicious cream puffs. The reason why I'm giving this store three stars is because they only offer two flavors at a time (vanilla and coffee). The lack of options compared to other Beard Papa's makes this store a bit of a miss. At other stores (i.e. Sawtelle in LA), I've had options of green tea, chocolate, creme brulee, cookies and cream, and more! I was pretty sad that I had only two flavors to choose from, even though the coffee flavor was delicious. Also, the customer service in this store was pretty much non-existent. The guy that filled the cream puffs and the girl that rang me up were very unenthusiastic. The store is located inside Mochilato cafe and parking can get hard to find in peak hours because there are a bunch of restaurants and markets in this mall. read more
This Beard Papa's location is great! Their cream puffs are so fresh and remained fresh for several days! The minis are probably my favorite and I actually like the vanilla flavor the most! The do sell out quick though so the earlier you come the better! Customer service was good. They're very nice. They also sell boba here and food as well. There are seating inside and outside so you can hang out and eat. Cute little shop. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place!! My girl friends and I stopped by here after dinner since we were already in Irvine, and we ordered a Taiyaki with custard/ matcha soft serve and a medium shaved ice (I forgot the exact name but it was the only one with both green tea and strawberry ice) Taiyaki (with custard/matcha soft serve) - SO SO GOOD!! the matcha soft serve was amazing, perfectly sweet and not too bitter with the perfect strength in matcha flavor. It also has a very firm and creamy texture, not a soft and melty texture, which I love in any kind of ice cream. I've had a lot of matcha desserts in the past, and I've gotta say that this might even be my absolute favorite!! The fish shaped pastry pulled the whole thing together, light and a little buttery, adding a slight crisp to the creamy texture of the ice cream Shaved ice (matcha/strawberry) - also pretty tasty! However, I wouldn't recommend as much as the taiyaki. The matcha and strawberry flavors are good, but naturally not as strong since it's more icy and not as milky. But I really liked the topping that went with it! Plenty of fruit with ice cream in the middle with black bean and mochi. Delicious! My friends and I just had dinner and wanted a little something sweet so the 6 of us shared a medium and it was perfect to satisfy our craving! There's also plenty of seats and the store itself is pretty roomy. It was the perfect place for us to just enjoy ice cream and hang out! I'll definitely be back! read more

I had bookmarked Beard Papa's and when I saw they had it inside Mochilato, I went in to give both a try. I was surprised by how small they were and how expensive. Just under $3 for a cream puff, or $5 for 5 minis which I was going to get until I saw the cookie crunch and paris brest for a few cent more. Going for variety I went with a cookie crunch and eclaire paris brest, both tiny and they were super stingy with the filling. The only flavors were vanilla and green tea, I went with vanilla for both and that was the only good part about the entire thing. The cookie crunch was ok, the whole thing just really stale. The paris brest soggy in the one tiny part that had custard in it, the rest stale and the chocolate not great on top either. This seems to be more of a hype than actually good thing, maybe a "real" Beard Papa's would be better, but honestly there are so many other great desserts, I'm over it. read more

I've had beard papa's before but never this location. It's very open inside and it's easy to order. It's a large modern spacious shop with ample seating and the shop has lots of parking The cream puffs make a fun dessert gift and they come in a nice little box. If you buy 6 you save $1 which can be convenient. These aren't cheap but are around $2.50/each depending on what type of puff pastry you get. Free wifi, helpful stuff.. read more

I've been craving cream puffs for a while now, so when I saw a Beard Papa's in Irvine AND it's in the same location as Mochilato, I made a mad dash there to satisfy my craving. There was a lot of people waiting to order either mochis at Mochilato or cream puffs at Beard Papa's, but the guy working didn't seem to hate his job. (Actually, if I worked there, I probably wouldn't either! But that's cause I'd probably eat all the sweets..) He was quick and very friendly. I ordered their special for the week, which was green tea. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of green tea flavored food items, so I wasn't too sure if I was going to like it. But it was pretty good. He filled the cream puff with plenty of the green tea cream.. yum! The shell itself wasn't as light flaky as I would've liked, but it'd do. I kind of regretted only getting one! read more

When checking out the renovated strip mall, I saw this place and slammed on my brakes, causing my tires to make streak marks on the pavement. I was surprised to see Beard Papa's in the Mochilata store. This is insane!! Quick service. Yummy cream puffs! The Americano was good too, but I wished they had real milk with the coffee and not that Coffeemate stuff. They did have a Beard Papa store in one of the Japanese grocery store/food courts in Costa Mesa, but it's been loong gone. So I'm glad someone had some sense to bring it back to OC! read more

We always had 'Beard Papa' in Asia and always loved the puff with custard inside and chocolate on top like an eclair so when we found out there's a shop here in Irvine also we were ecstatic ! So, realizing the shop name is NOT 'beard papa' was a challenge. I almost could not find the shop but had to call and asked for direction. Entering the shop, then realized it's also a coffee shop. Saw the selection on the board and found out they have a couple of more choices here than in Asia. Very eager to try them all so decided to buy six and get one free, so seven puffs for 2 adults and 2 kids !! When we finally ate them as dessert that night we were almost in heaven. Fantastic taste and texture. The chocolate coating on top is real nice chocolate and the best was the new item we tried - Paris Brest ! It's a ring puff with custard inside. Next time I will try the chocolate coated Paris Brest !! 2 days afterwards, the kids are still talking about how good the puffs were and those kids are real foodies ! Only eat the best food. Highly recommended and in the shop, they stock some super good quality cookies from Japan and fragrant candles from UK .. All at very reasonable price ! It's a hidden gem and should be kept this way ;-) read more

I still love this place! Our friends brought us here for cream puffs and taiyaki for the first time and we have always stopped here ever since on our SoCal trips. We have never had a bad experience and the staff are so friendly and professional. So far we have had all the different taiyaki. Our favorites are the ham and cheese and custard filled. As for the cream puffs, we always get the classic. They do have some more interesting flavors now such as s'mores, chocolate cream, strawberry and green tea. They also now have shaved ice! read more

I've purchased them and had some left over, they do get to tend to get hard after the second or third day.
