Save some time and pre-order on the Toast app. I'm addicted to their Birdie Breakfast Sandwich - piled high with fluffy egg whites, spinach, turkey and pepper jack cheese on a soft herbed Kaiser roll. I don't know where they get their bread rolls, but they are unique and delicious! Today I tried their Raspberry white chocolate (made to order 1/2 sweet and non fat milk), and a Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar. Rich and decadent. What a treat for me! I've had this spot bookmarked for a bit because I wanted to try their cinnamon rolls but I had recently seen them on the app too good to go so I decided to go with the mystery bag! I wish they still had buns bec I def would have ordered one too but it was really close to closing and they were almost out is everything. In my bag came a muffin and two croissants: ube coconut and a sausage cheese one. Their croissant is really good! Would def return for those one my own. On a weekend trip down to SD and the daughter had a craving for cinnamon rolls so we looked up bakeries and found this little spot. We ordered more than just cinnamon rolls and were pleasantly surprised by the different pastries. They all tasted nice and fresh! I love that we have this bakery cafe in the neighborhood so we can grab some breakfast and coffee in the morning. They have a small parking lot and some seating on the inside. The place is very cozy. They are located next to USPS and street parking is often available as well in this quiet area. Service was lovely. She gave me a cinnamon roll and I ordered a caramel macchiato to go. Based on that experience I would be willing to come back for future morning treats before work. In terms of cinnamon roll it looked great and I like that it came warm. Flavor wise I think Cinnabon is better because the bread was lacking in Flavor. I'm the type who likes the gooey center and this was more bready. We've been coming here for close to ten years. They switched ownership within the last year and the quality has gone down while the prices have gone up. I don't mind paying for a quality product but sadly this isn't it anymore. We got 5 different types of muffins this last trip and were disappointed with each one. Each type of muffin used to be a unique flavorful experience. Not any more. They also used to have a large muffin top and now that's gone. Thank you shrinkflation. I have been to Bear Buns only once before, and that time I only stopped in to pick up some holiday cookies. Recently, I had an appointment nearby and had a little extra time to kill before returning to work. I hadn't yet had my coffee or anything to eat, so Bear Buns sounded good. Anyway, I walked in to find that it seemed to be quite the morning hangout for locals. At 8:15AM on a Thursday, there were several tables filled with groups of people chatting, but still plenty of space. I initially had been thinking to forgo breakfast and just enjoy a pumpkin latte, but then I saw a large variety of breakfast sandwiches. Anyway, I chose the turkey and pepperjack croissant to accompany my latte. Unfortunately, they had run out of skim milk, so I had to have the latte with almond milk. The latte was good and not overly sweet, which was a fear of mine, especially given the milk choices. They warmed the sandwich for me and brought it out. It was very simple, but not greasy. The coffee shop was a bit loud, but I think it was mainly due to the boisterous personalities in the groups around me. Otherwise, it was a comfortable place to sit and sip my coffee in the morning. For a place with "buns" in the name, I had expectations. The vegan breakfast sandwich isn't particularly delicious. Cutsy sings- check Appropriate music level to allow for chat but hides kitchen noise -- check I ordered a mocha and a cinnamon roll. I guess I was basic today, it ran me about $10.00. They both were good. The cinnamon roll, contrary to other comments, is not too sweet. It is on a sourdough base (I think), with a cream cheese frosting. It could use a wee more cinnamon (but I am a total cinnamon lover). You could achieve "more cinnamon" by shaking some a top it with the coffee condiments. With that being said, I will return again to try the other varieties of buns... cuz they are the perfect combination of sweet, savory, chewy and crumb. The mocha, was as I would expect. Great blend of chocolate and coffee, served at the perfect temp. With the added kicker of coffee art . The next coffee I'll try is the Mexican Mocha, one guest got that while I was here and loved it!! I also heard rave reviews of the breakfast sandwich. Parking, on the street, was easy and abundant. Make sure to check both ways when you cross, it can get busy. All the food is packed "to go". So you can choose to eat in or take away. The condiment bar is STRONG!!! You won't be wanting for anything. One comment, review or something said there was seating outside, which would for suitable for doggos. When I came by, there was no such seating and I saw one dog mum and dad leave sad. So. If you're looking for a dog friendly spot, this may not be your place, though.... This was a cute little place tucked very unassumingly at the edge of a small parking lot that took me by surprise! When you walk in you're greeted with a very welcoming vibe and the best smells! The sticky bun and cinnamon rolls (and really all the items) are huge! The Bennie sandwich was truly a unique take on a breakfast sandwich that I haven't seen anywhere else- the house made bun was flavored and gave the sandwich a nice touch! As a big Eggs Benedict girlie I've never seen a sandwich version so I was pleasantly surprised - I'd have loved to see a fried or poached egg on it instead of scrambled but it was still very good all the same! Clearly lots of love goes into this place, you can feel it as you look around at the business cards and flyers and can get a sense that people feel accepted here. I would also like to say that I will also miss the former barista who under the most stressful xtra-busy days stayed composed and provided outstanding customer service. It appears that, according to neighborhood gossip, Bear Buns ownership has changed as of March 3rd. Due to a modified budget I haven't visited this Cafe in a long time, apologies. Today I decided to pay a visit. Gone was the bustling laughter and conversation. Prices have changed and coffee cup 2/3 full, an adjustment that I will have to conform with. I paid $8.25 for a small drink; inflation=dynamic pricing. That being said the new staff is super nice and takes time to answer questions. Next visit I will have to try a cinnamon roll that, under former ownership, used to sell-out. I will also have to revisit the Birdie breakfast sandwich, my fave. Congratulations to the new owner(s). This is such a cute little shop, the decor inside and out feels so cute and welcoming. Everything we got from here was absolutely delicious! The lemon bar was the perfect amount of sweet and tartness, the blueberry pie crust had the perfect texture and the filling was so yummy.
