Bear Brick Oven Pizza is by far my new favorite small business in the DMV area. BBOP combines all of my favorite things - great food with locally sourced ingredients and drinks, the opportunity to listen to some live music by local artists, and a great team to go with it all. As for their pizzas, I truly appreciate that BBOP offers Daiya vegan cheese as a cheese substitute for those with dairy allergies/sensitivity. It's pretty rare that larger pizza companies carry these alternatives, but this was definitely a factor that made me fall in love with BBOP! I also feel great knowing that BBOP is big on "Moco Grown, Moco Owned," which also goes for their brews! My family really wanted me to give a great review. The pizza was really good. We ordered the margherita pizza, the white cheese pizza, and another one with a ton of vegetables. They were all really good (4 stars). BTW, we love that there are big slices of tomato on the mergherita pizza. Please keep doing that. I really like the setup and simple layout, too. All good. I don't need crazy themes. The service, though, was not quite a 4. We waited over an hour for the pizzas. I'm sure this will improve, but if you notice someone has been sitting in your restaurant for over an hour without their food, maybe you offer a free soda. At the very least, you should check with the guests to make sure they're getting refills on the drinks they ordered. That didn't happen. Honestly, I recognize that the kitchen was swamped, but the restaurant obviously was not. With the COVID protocols, there didn't appear to be even 5 tables with guests, but there were 2 servers. Sorry to focus on the negative, but that's why I didn't give at least 4 stars. We will be back, though. We are looking forward to additional menu items, too, including dessert. read more

Was happily greeted and seated by a Veteran. It was good to have him as my first impression of Bear Brick Overnight Pizza. My server was friendly and very helpful with the menu choices. I was in the mood for the regular ole pizza but was shown the Crab Pizza. Hoping I would like it, I kept rethinking my choice and wondering if I was just going to get something that tasted like regular pizza with crab instead of the normal sausage and pepperoni. Well. I am glad I didn't change my mind. It didn't taste how I imagined, and it was so good! It also wasn't so unique that it would be a one time try and done. I will order it again. The Crab Pizza had so much flavor on a nice crispy pizza dough crust. The mix of the Crab and garlic sauce with the cheese topping and just the right amount of Old Bay was perfect. I ate it like someone was going to steal it. Slices are cut in an easy to hold and eat manner. The pizza was not overfilling and not heavy like others can be. Although I sat inside, a band was playing outside. Unlike so many other places, they were not overpowering inside nor out. When I walked outside, they were loud enough to be heard but not so loud that people had to holler during conversations. Having come from Chicago to work in the area and staying approximately 25 minutes away, I found this place on Yelp! and can agree with the positive comments. Of course, I had other choices within minutes of where I was staying. Taking the chance to come here was the best choice. When in the area, I will be back. Very worth my time and money. We got a 14" pepperoni pizza to split and it was perfect -- Just the right level of doneness, good quality cheese, balanced sauce profile (not too sweet), and delicious pepperonis. Reminded me of excellent New York slice flavor meets brick oven style dough/crust. We did carry out and they had our pizza in the warmer by the door; a really appreciated touch of service. Tried Bear Brick Oven for the first time. I ordered Pizza, an Italian cold cut and fries. The pizza was very good. The crust was done perfectly and the sauce and cheese tasted great. However, the Italian cold cut was average. We asked for the cold cut to be heated and the individual taking the order said it could not be heated because it was a cold cut. I think they need to better train the people answering the phones and taking the orders. Anyhow, even if the cold cut had been heated, it was average at best. We love Bear Brick, and are here about once a week (either dine in or carry out). The pizza never disappoints, nor do the old bay fries. Besides that, the cheesesteak is very good, as are the salads. This place is delicious!! My gracious...the crab pizza s amazing. Great flavor with no fishy taste and the sauce is so garlicky delicious!!! We had several pizzas and none of them disappointed our table! Nice environment and live music on some days until 9. Our server Souley was our server and he is excellent!! We received our meal in record time and it was pippin hot. Plus we had a 7 year old with us that loved it! They've got games to pick from so the family got have a great time! Super place. Clean. This pizza was so delicious! The crust has a tinge of sweetness. We went on a Sunday at 1PM (it was quiet), so we got a table for 9 people without issue. The turkey club sandwich was ok, but the pizza was the star of the show. It's reminiscent of Puputella pizza in terms of the crust and how it comes out of the oven. But the ingredients are fresh (they use fresh mushrooms instead of canned - always a plus), and high quality. read more

Talk about pizza with love! I really feel for this place. They were supposed to open around the time Covid hit back in 2020. They've gone above and beyond to make this place happen. I'm all for that especially for a new pizza spot that's located in a building that used to be a Pizza Hut! This building was meant for pizza! Side note - I love their repurposed church pews and the overall vibe of the place. It will be a great spot hopefully once things return to semi-normal. I ordered a pizza to go on a Sunday. It was ready super quick and the place was pretty empty. I felt bad. The pizza was delicious with a crust that really stood out to me and I'm not a big crust person. Their fancy pizza oven is worth it! Something that really sets them apart from the rest are their pizzas named after local areas. You can almost make your own but I thought the neighborhood pizzas were a nice touch and spot on! I went with a create your own (my OG go to of pep and mushroom). It hit the spot! Huge disappointment.Friends and family of the owner must be the ones giving out these reviews! The cheese that is used on the pizza has to be the lowest quality I've ever tasted. The dough is definitely not fresh or airy. Very dense. The temperature cook on the pizza is definitely not right (per some other reviews) leaving the pepperoni undercooked, and dough gooey under that AWFUL cheese. Why can't we have a decent pizza place in this area!!! I will say the sausage on the pizza was pretty tasty. But that's about it. read more

Seeking a great NY style pizza, I knew a chain could never satisfy so Bear Brick it was. Decided to do takeout via Door Dash and had no issues placing an order. They are located accross the street from the Safeway in Cloverly and plenty of parking is available. It was a Friday so upon arrival for pickup I could hear music. They have live music weekly, minimum of two times and a patio where you can enjoy the "ambiance" and music. The pickup area was easily identified and the ladies were pleasant. I went with a small "create your own" and it was good. The dough was not crispy enough for me and the mushrooms added were minimal, however the Italian flavors were there. Will return, however, I may ask them to cook the crust longer for a less doughy bite.. Not to bad for a Moco hidden spot. read more

Don't have a clue as to how I missed the opening of this joint as it's basically in my backyard. A neighborhood brick oven pizza joint, ya can't beat that. As we have absolutely nothing like this in the area, I pray to the food gods this place not only survives but thrives. Ordered a bunch of food for pickup. Caesar salad, the fairland, the peach wood, the spencerville, meatballs, and fries. All the pizzas were solid. Salad was great (but its a salad so that's pretty hard to screw up). The meatballs are surprisingly good, deff will get them again. Can't speak to how this place is dinning in as again ordered for pickup. All in all, not the greatest brick oven pizza but given this place is so local, I'll support em. Definitely will be ordering lots of pies in the future. I did notice for dinning in options they have a great selection of local beers. So I might have to check that out in the future. read more

I've been here twice in the past few months and really appreciate the owner and staff. They opened a restaurant during unbearable circumstances and have done so with community spirit and support. The pizza - I love the fresh ingredients, and they definitely offer up fresh and delicious veggies and meats. You can't beat a thin crisp, but not too thin, brick oven crust, YUM!!! The salads - abbondanza!!! Big enough to share! Fresh cool crisp lettuce, and other vegetables generously tossed in. And a variety of salads to choose from. I haven't had the subs yet, but it's on my list. We live in Colesville and have anxiously waited for this restaurant to open. We went last week for dinner and 6 days later for lunch with my in-laws (who live in Olney and also loved the pizza!). Salads are fresh and the parm cheese on the Caesar is the best part of the salad. The pizza comes out quickly and is amazingggg. Soft crust, delicious toppings. My 4 year old ate an unprecedented 3 pieces! They have a completely covered, shaded patio out front which is so nice because we prefer to eat outside. Also, during happy hour it's $5 for any beer/wine on the menu. We will be regulars there for sure! read more

With brick oven pizza it's all about the crust, and Bear Brick Oven Pizza did not disappoint. The crust was excellent! We ordered the "The Cloverly" and the "The Colesville" specialty pizzas. Love the use of nearby neighborhoods for the names btw. Both pizzas were great and made with generous toppings and perfectly cooked. I especially liked the sausage topping. We paired our pizza with a couple of local craft beers from their menu and it was the perfect meal! The staff was very friendly and helpful.
