    Hawaiian Stuffed pineapple French toast
    Paul P.

Went to Bean Tree Cafe to meet my daughter for breakfast. I picked this place cuz it's local restaurant and they make good coffee but I'm here for breakfast not just coffee. They have young staff and very friendly. I ordered The Work, it comes with over easy eggs I ordered how I'd like cooked, fried cubes potatoes, bacon, pancake and a biscuit with gravy. Everything is very good and perfect but biscuit weren't fresh but little hard but still good. my daughter ordered almond milk latte and stuffed strawberries French toast. I think the latte was little expensive but she likes it. Thank you for friendly service.

Cold brew tastes just as good at home as it does in the café.

Five stars as always for friendly service and the best cold brew on this side of the river! I am just updating to let Yelpers know they are still open. Currently, you can get drinks to go at the counter or call in food orders for carryout. They have added a pick up window on the north side so you don't even have to get out of your car. So glad to see this local gem is remaining open during this difficult time. I'm happy to support them and happy to get my caffeine fix!

Closest thing to a family gathering I've ever experienced in a restaurant. And a pleasant drive to boot.

I'd prefer their lattes over any franchise drink, any day. What's even better, it's a 1/4 mile from my home & on my way! I always order a vanilla iced latte w/ oat milk & sometimes an extra shot. It is perfect, every time -- their syrup isn't overpowering and too sweet, and you can taste the delicious espresso. Not bitter and not too sweet, like other places, their espresso is the perfect combo. The Abbey is always quick, accurate, delicious & made by friendly staff. I look forward to walking in one day, soon. Excellent coffee, stellar service. Cheer's to you, The Abbey! :)

I've never really seen a double decker cafe, but this cafe has two separate dining rooms! We opted for the upstairs. It was super clean and modern inside. The service was so amiable and helpful, we really felt at home. You order at the counter but plenty of people come around to ask if you need help. An older gentleman kept asking if we needed anything else, he even grabbed us waters and ketchup! The food was pretty good. I started with an Iced Vanilla Latte and it had such a good flavor. Not too sweet and I could actually taste the coffee. We tried two sandwiches, the Grilled Chicken Gyro and the Olympian Stack Sandwich. My Mom thought her Gyro was good but a tad dry. The house-made tzaziki really helped add some moisture though. I LOVED the Olympian Stack sandwich. The horseradish and roast beef was packed full of flavor. Plus, the fries on the sides of our dishes were super crispy. We would come back, and sooner rather than later! Besides the gyro, everything was 5 star worthy.

It's the kind of place you instantly know you'll want to return to. This was our first time here and we were go glad we made the little trip down to Bourbon, MO! We ordered the bacon and egg panini, and it was cooked perfectly. Whatever homemade seasoned butter they use deserves special recognition--it added so much flavor and made an already great sandwich even better. Of course, the dessert case was impossible to ignore. Everything looked incredible, and choosing was no easy task. We finally settled on a pecan brownie and a sea-salt chocolate chip gooey butter cake slice. Both were fantastic, but the gooey butter cake completely stole the show. Hands-down, it was the absolute best gooey butter cake I have ever had--and I've tried many from plenty of bakers over the years. This single slice may have changed my outlook on life. They've set the bar so high that I honestly don't know how anyone else could top it. Warmed up just as the owner suggested, it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection with a tender, flaky crust and incredible flavor. Absolutely phenomenal. We will definitely be back again--and you should go too!

She did an excelling job telling us about their specials. It was obvious not only were they passionate about the quality of their ingredients, but so much love and thoughtfulness went into every food item and beverage. The coffee is roasted on site every Wednesday and is delicious (and refills were free for dine-in customers...waitresses were coming asking if you'd like a top off regularly). My husband had the Cuban panini with a cup of chicken noodle soup (amazing) and I had the Three Blind Mice panini "dilly dilly style" with a cup of their curried squash soup (also, all amazing). We weren't planning on getting a dessert, but after everything else was fantastic, and you see the desserts in the display counter...you just have to! We split a piece of their Reese's Peanut Butter Triple Chocolate cake...served warm with a side of homemade whipped cream. Let's just say, I'll be dreaming about that cake for the rest of my life! But above the delicious homemade food, desserts, and coffee was the heart of the cafe. This is a place you come and sit and make new friends. The seating is set up for you to stay a while and share a table with another smiling face and have conversations--face to face. I don't think I saw a single person alone scrolling on their phones or on their laptop. We met a lovely local gentleman named Dennis who came and sad with us. He was so kind and told us so much local history. We left feeling refreshed and cared for. The quote on the back of the waitresses' shirts is one from the great Dolly Parton, "If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours." And let me tell you, everyone we met there lives up to Ms. Parton's sentiment. Oh, and I must say the decor is so warm, cozy, and just downright cute! Thank you so much to everyone at Bourbon Cafe and Coffee Saloon. You fed our bellies and our spirits. I hope our paths cross again soon.

They also bake the pies and cakes on site. We now have a place to bring visitors to our home in Saint James, such a real great find.
